...SPORTS BETTING COMP...
Would there be any interest in another betting comp?
However this one would include all sports not covered in the Football Punters Comp, such as Tennis, Cricket, Soccer, NBA etc
We don't really need anyone to run the comp, as they're pretty much self contained and generally run on a trust basis
Possible rules:
Starting Bank: $1000
Bookies: Centrebet, Sportingbet, Pinnacle
Maximum Bet: 15% of account
Minimum Bet: $5
Free Bets: If registered before Monday 5th June
Maximum of 4 legs in multis
First prize is $1* (Conditions apply)
*postage and handling $2
Reply ASAP if interested
Cheers

Yep no worries mate
No more than the 4 bookies though - more than that and it would be chaos

Think it could be anyway if previous experience is anything to go by.

Betsy,
Can we please leave this sort of "entertainment" for the racing forum. The AFL forum is already getting cluttered up with "tips". Haven't we seen enough?
So and so tips this and someone else tips that - what does it all prove and how does it contribute to a really informative discussion. If people gave some reasons for their "tips" it might be OK but it never works out that way.

If you don't like it..... don't read it. Nobody forces you to.

Betsy,
I've had a bit of a change of heart. If you want, I WILL introduce some extra sports into the Punters Comp on the AFL forum, so we don't have to start up something new on here. But so things don't get totally out of hand, they would only be a handful of major events that I nominate, like the current French Open, Wimbledon, British Open Golf, Ashes Cricket, NBA Championship final etc. What do you think?

macca - what exactly do you bring to this forum? Do i see you putting your neck out on the line and posting tips. i usually refer to your type as parasites - leeching off others without contributing to the ecosystem that is this forum :D

Macca, and a couple of others,
There is nothing wrong in my opinion with people posting tips without a reason, because most of us in here are smart enough to look at the horse pointed out and see why they were selected. the same goes with sport betting. ie. I could post geelong to win over 39. Whats the point of naming ins and outs and form or whatever else when they are all obvious to anyone with basic research skills.
I for one enjoy keeping tabs on peoples selections, this is a great forum!

Careful now Chuck. Getting a bit personal. You know what happened to your other "buddy".
I simply disagreed with the idea of another tipping competition. So for that I get personally attacked. Good form fellas.
I think Chuck, Sportz and others in the little "clique" should get off their high horse and shown some respect for others even if they have a differing point of view. I thought management warned everybody to cut out the personal jibes. Seems you guys cannot tolerate any other point of view from your own.
I repeat I simply offered a civil reply to the original question posed by Betsy.
As for the repeated innuendo about Czar, Primo and Rock - I will not even bother to go into detail suffice to say I have emailed Neil personally. He knows my name and if this little "Chuck and Sportz" clique wants to continually play games then go ahead.I know where you will end up. With Floydy. I believe I am being blasted because I stood up for Rock who was given a raw deal - there can be no other reason because every post I have made has been civil - none has been removed which is more than I can say for Chuck. I saw that personal attack before management gave it the flick - very poor form.

Well, I have nothing against you personally, just your opinion that everyone using these forums should be deadly serious and professional at all times and anyone who's not somehow doesn't deserve to be on here.
A winning tip is a winning tip, no matter whether you provide loads of facts, stats and opinion to back it up or not. The most successful tipster on these forums has been TheBookie who posts in the Punters Comp on the AFL forum. All he does is come on each week and post his bets. He doesn't make any other comments at all, and he doesn't need to because he's having a brilliant season!
Why not lighten up and have a bit of fun with the sports betting occasionally. If it was up to you this would become a VERY boring forum and would be quickly deserted.

Sportz,
Well thankyou for a reply without an attack or innuendo. OK, so not everyone is professional in their outlook - fair enough but don't you agree that there should be a seperate "tips" section so the other forums don't get clogged up with tips.
Not everyone wants to see "tips". I am a member of another forum that is very professional and "tips" posts are very rare indeed. I agree that the sort of punter that posts here is generally not as professional or serious about winning as I am or others on that forum. I am not interested in "fun" when it comes to matters of the punt. I don't particularly enjoy doing 30 hours of dog videos a week either but if I don't do that I know where I will end up - broke!
Believe me, I have taken short cuts before and paid the price.
I take your point - maybe I need to lighten up but it is hard when every time I post I get whacked over the head by Chuck et al.
I love Marco's WTA thread and obviously there are people who don't appreciate quality posts but maybe we should all be a bit more tolerant. This is a PUBLIC forum open to anyone who plays by the rules set out by management. I just think some of the old regulars on here need to have a good look at themselves - Propun is not THEIR baby even though they may have been posting on here for a lot longer than me. Cut out the "club culture" and maybe other "lurkers" would be prepared to post.
