Races
I was looking over my past results for the last 3 mths and came to the conculsion that if I restrict the number of races on which I bet, I might improve my strike rate and POT.
So hear are my thoughts on which races to avoid. 2yo 3yo before december Jumps races Races with 12 or more. (To much can happen to a horse during the race.) Races over 2000m. Any thoughts guys. Benny |
BENNY.
Any race with a large number of ist uppers or horses having their 1st race start.
Races where the majority of horses are up in class. By the way .Are you only considering Metroplitan at this stage. Cheers. darky. |
at this stage yes.

NON-PLAYABLE RACES
-Hurdles/Steeples -Maidens -2YO Hcps -Mares -Class 1-5 -3YO fillies -WFA yeah i konw that gets rid of a lot but that s my philosophy |

Thats the best place to learn the proffession as you have disclosed form.
Unless your really up with it country /provincials can be a real nightmare. Stick with the better quality racing. Good luck darky. |
I tend to be on a different type of elimination line. I only assess Saturdays and Public Holidays and I don't eliminate any race out of hand immediately because of any of those factors mentioned, ie: distance, race type.
I instead do some assessment on each race with no more than 14 runners and then see if my ratings will stand out 2 or 3 from the rest of the field. I think as some people on this forum have said before, they have just as much luck finding winners in the lowest class of race. They all pay the same. My only criteria is that the field is not more than 14 runners as my stats have revealed that selecting winners in these races is much harder. Fining down a field to where you can identify just 2 or 3 chances is the biggest task and from four states may only give you 3-5 races in a day but zeroing in on them and not only getting the winner but going with multiples as well is the go. Always looking for a different angle to look at it. Good Punting |

PICWIZ - THE MANUSCRIPT available from Malcolm Knowles at www.inracing.com.au is the best grounding in proffessional betting I have ever seen.
Chock full of stats /facts and figures. In my opinion the best value in racing available in AUSTRALIA today. Cheers. darky. |
I meant winners are harder to find in fields of greater than 14. Should be proof reading before posting.
Knocking out WFA races without even a look is missing something, especially if your on the line of only betting in the best quality fields. |

Gday Chuck.. I reckon ya would have some pretty quiet afternoons... -Hurdles/Steeples To me they seem to be one of the safest more predictable bets to have.. Older horses, plenty of form, run pretty true to form generally... I love the jumps pity the season is so restricted -Maidens They are volatile sure, but by jeez ya can snag some nice winners -2YO Hcps Again I see no reason to exclude them... they are volatile so you have the chance of finding a nice winner amongst them.. the other way to play them is just play the stables.. -Mares Against each other are a fair sort of bet, but not one of my favz I gotta say -Class 1-5 There goes my bread and butter... I am making an assumption here that you will bet in those ordinary RMW races they hold in the city? If so, I would reconsider the Class 1 - 5, as those RMW races are pretty much lotteries.. dodgy form, dodgy horses etc...but then again you can jag some nice winners... For mine Class 6 OPEN and TRANS races are usually pretty boring affairs with the same old faces running around, and to me it seems to depend on what day of the week as to who's turn it is to win.. -3YO fillies I can't see any real reason not bet in these races if you find something that takes your fancy ... they are restricted by age and sex and sometimes class... that seems pretty straight forward -WFA That takes care of a lot of Group Class races... I dont understand your thinking there at all... Being logical I would guess that you would also put the pen through any set weight races.. From what I can work out you are left with Group and Listed Handicaps... Quality Handicaps... Open Handicaps.. Flying and Welter Handicaps Transitional Handicaps and Class 6 Handicaps... along with 3yo colts and geldings handicaps... plus those horrible RMW races.. there are probably a few more I can not think of... I dont know where my punting account would be without the wonderful racing that is held all around our great country.. I do not exclude any meeting from my betting plans because it is run in a country location.... I really should exclude some of the Melbourne Metro tracks.... as a matter of fact, I have far more success with country meetings than I seem to with the metro.. It;s just the way it works out for me.. I am all for having a good dig when you are betting... Have a bet here have a bet there IF your ratings are ok you will come out in front, but I do think that some punters can be a bit precious about the races they bet on.. They still pay the same for a $5 winner of a Port Macquarie maiden as they do on a Group 1 Handicap winner at $5 at Flemington, and the winner was probably easier to find at Port. Just my thoughts |
IF I WAS KICKING OFF IN THE GAME.
I would start where nearly every bit of form is at a glance stuff and to me thats Metropolitan racing.
Just my thoughts. Cheers. darky. |
