Not this time, she is really focused on this event and will be too good for this field, hope hanson can fill 2nd spot, that would be great, cant see quinella betting on sportstab which is dissapointing,so the 1500m will be just a watcher with hackett @$1.01

sportznut 16th August 2004 08:10 PM

Do you think anyone else knows what we're referring to?

goldmember 16th August 2004 08:15 PM

You mean GOAT, yeah i think everybody has heard his mouth being the Greatest Of All Time, but then i didnt find out till later that he has a tattoo with the spaces inbetween spelling goat, thought that was over the top

Not quite sure who I hate more, the American sprinters or the so called 'Dream Team'.

goldmember 16th August 2004 08:28 PM

I think you have to go with the sprinters, because the dream team is a nightmare at the moment.

It is a funny phenomena how if your watching an event and it becomes clear that an Aussie can't win, you barrack for the rest of the world to beat a Yank. They are fairly unlikeable. A bit like when you're in the tote and theres always 1 loudmouth carrying on and shouting for his horse which is usually racing in another state and you just pray that he gets beaten, prefferably in a tight photo.

sportznut 16th August 2004 09:39 PM

That's so true!!!

Well done Thorpey. I haven't seen the race yet, but judging by the splits, Van Den Hoogenband certainly wasn't far enough ahead coming to the last 50. Looks like Ian swam a great race and had things pretty much under control the whole way.

Another minor medal to Liesel Jones. Unfortunately that's becoming a regular thing. She just doesn't seem to be able to swim her best when it comes to finals.
