BTW

are we calculating the final rankings on POT or Winnings? For example who would be winning this week if we have a different person on top of each ladder?

Sportz 12th April 2005 09:50 AM

It's calculated on overall winnings (sorry Chuck :)), but I include the POT table there just as a reference.

After all, it would be possible for somebody to get a huge POT by having just a handful of runs and getting one or two good results from those. This comp is about selecting as many future winners as possible, and preferably at reasonably good odds, so overall winnings it is.

oh well...2nd's better than 7th eh Sportz!

Sportz 12th April 2005 10:24 AM

Yeah. :o

I think 12 horses is plenty and maybe just be able to change 2 a week would be good so then we could add our specials. I also like the idea about any tab races, because as we all know getting a 4/1 winner in the country is exactly the same as getting a 4/1 winner in the Melbourne Cup, and Victoria country meetings is where i do best.

Would suit me! One of my stable is a possible starter at Kalgoorlie on Sunday!!

Some people had as many as 10 or 11 of their stable runners going around this week. Hard to see more than a few of those backing up next week, so they might find it a bit tough to add to their tally. Will be interesting to see how many selections we have next week. It was easy this week by comparison because at least we had the fields to go by. There's a couple of horses in my stable that I'm worried about because I thought they might have been in this week and they weren't. Hope they aren't injured or out for a spell.

Great  I'm already one down :(

Sportz 12th April 2005 11:52 AM

OH, WHAT THE HECK! Geez, I'm easily persuaded! Okay guys, here's what I'll do.

We haven't had a horse run around yet at a midweek or non metropolitan meeting as far as I know, so no reason why we can't change that rule. I agree about the fact that a winner in the bush is just as much a winner as those at City tracks. (disagree with that comment about the Melbourne Cup though Ed)

Also, I agree that it would probably be better if we could make changes every single week instead of every 3 weeks. That way, you can quickly replace horses that are injured or going out for a spell etc. Also, as we will be making changes every week, it's not necessary to have a Group A & B as we'd just be able to change them every single week anyway. So for pure simplicity, I think from now on we'll just have 12 runners in our stable, no Group A & B. I'm sorry, but I'll also adjust our results from Saturday accordingly.

So here are the new rules. Everyone that's in this comp please read them:

Everybody to have 12 horses in their stable.

During the period of the comp, you'll be having hypothetical $10 win bets on all of your stable horses whenever they start at an Australian meeting covered by Unitab.

Each Friday, you'll be able to replace up to 2 of your stable runners with new selections. If you have a stable runner racing on Friday, you must wait until after they've run. Otherwise you can make your changes any time on Friday up until the cutoff time of midnight.

It is up to you to post all your stable runners on here when they are down to race. Probably a good idea to use something like the 'Racenet Blackbook' so you don't miss any of the selections, especially as we are now counting races at out of town tracks. http://www.racenet.com.au/blackbook.asp

There. Those rules are MUCH simpler. Why didn't I just do it like that in the first place??? Anyway, as not everyone is likely to read this before tomorrow, can we have volunteers to go through all the stable lists and check for runners. I'll have a look but I might miss one. I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be any running today, but there might be a couple tomorrow. I know that Kylikwong is down to run and she's in a couple of stables. Also Mr Ed mentioned Sonic Royal which might run on Thursday.

Okay, that's it. No more rule changing from now on..... :o
