It's okay. It was interesting to know the figures and I've set up the spreadsheet so that I'll be able to update the P.O.T every week hopefully.

I just wish I could get a few winners myself for this comp. I'm going shocking! :(

Rabbitz, there are teams all over Australia begging me to not let you bet on them any more in this comp. :D
Okay, just for you and maybe Chuck soon:

If your balance goes below $10, you can bet the following amounts: $2.00 or $5.00

That means you can still have 2 or 3 more bets Rabbitz.

Yeah, I don't normally take any notice of the NT races, but they were doing a tote call just before the race and I heard them say that name. I had backed it a couple of times before and it wasn't hopeless, so I hurriedly threw a few dollars on. :)

Only jokin' Betsy!
And the proof of going well is really in the P.O.T. and I'm sure yours is up amongst them!

Sportz 10th April 2005 08:25 AM

Well, it's only taken me 8 damn weeks, but I've learnt my lesson regarding what I should do in this comp. It just doesn't work trying to be greedy and putting extra teams in your multi bets. Much better to be more cautious like I am with real money. I'm way back on $314 now. I hope I can get a few wins on the board and gradually fight my way back. TheBookie is doing very well. He's out on $802 with still a few bets riding today so he can go higher.

Well you could cross out thebookie and put in Jack Daniels and have posted it last week.
But I'm glad I didn't notice thebookies bets or my comments would certainly have brought egg on my face!

Sportz 10th April 2005 08:50 AM

Mo, I've never been a fan of having more than about 2 or 3 games in my multi bets (usually I just have single bets), but when Jack Daniels started out so well with his 5 leg multis, I thought I might give it a try. No good. Just lucky that I've only been betting small amounts, because if I had been outlaying $50 on each bet like some have, I'd be back there with Rabbitz and Chuck. :D

This week for example, I originally had three multis picked out and two of them would have won:
S12: Highlanders, Chiefs, Stormers
S12: Highlanders +7.5, Chiefs+7.5, Stormers +7.5

AFL: Carlton, Essendon

But what did I do? At the very last minute, I decided to get greedy and I stuck two extra legs in those first two multis. DUMB!!! :(

TheBookie has not had one multibet that I can remember in this comp. He seems to go for single bets in the AFL that are $2.00 or longer. Admittedly he's been helped greatly by the Swans last second win as that's jumped $300 onto his tally. Whether he stays on top or not we'll have to wait and see. Might find things more difficult later on when the AFL gets further into the season. We could well have many different leaders over the duration of the comp. Personally, I'm just hoping I can somehow get back to $500. :o

moeee 10th April 2005 08:57 AM

Struggling to make the minimum 50 bet rule.
BET #10

A multi of Adeaide +18.5
into
Essendon straight out $1.30

$50 @ 2.27 returns $123.50

Opening Balance was $560.50
Closing Balance $510.60

I'm a bit like Floydyboy.Lost track of where I am.
So I will keep a note like Sportz said.Problem solved!
Is there anything that man doesn't know?
Apart from making a profit!!

Sportz 10th April 2005 09:00 AM

I think you're doing just fine. Wish I had had only 10 bets at this stage. Leaves you with 40 bets in about 24 weeks. Less than 2 a week.

By the way, I assume that bet is supposed to read $50 @ $2.47 ($123.50)

You're right again Mr.Amazing.
I got one of those el cheapo solar powered calculators that don't light up the display too well with curtains drawn on a gorgeous sunny day here in Melbourne.

Betsy 10th April 2005 09:15 AM

Unlike me Sportz, i'm sure you've been gambling for a while - why would it take a minor comp like this to teach you how to bet? Even i know more than a cpl of legs in a parlay is nothing but danger! You appear to be telling us everytime you have a loss that you were not primarily going to chose that pick, eg. your system chose it but you went with your gut or you originally had the winning multi etc etc

In general (might not apply to you) there also appears to be alot of ppl who can pick the winner after the event has been run and won, it often occurs where someone posts a tip and it doesn't get up and ppl begin picking that persons tip to bits saying things like 'how did you think they would win?' But where were comments like these prior to the event? If the tip was so bad why wasn't the poster told before the event?

In general this forum is great with a lot of helpful advice, however, theres no need to cover your ******** after an unsuccessful tip or pick someone else's to bits - no one is going to think any worse of you if you have a loss, thats what happens - its gambling! However im sure many will look down upon ppl who have cheap shots at punters who just come off a loss

Well thats my rant for the day

No bad intentions here just posting some observations

Happy Punting all
Betsy

Sportz 10th April 2005 10:22 AM

Betsy,

The thing is that I tend to bet very differently on here than I do with real money. When I'm betting with real money, I'm only competing with the TAB or bookies or whatever and I'm happy to bet very cautiously and hopefully just get a small profit over time. In this comp however, I'm competing against 19 others and I thought I would have have to do a lot more than that to have any chance of winning. Well, after 8 weeks of trying more risky bets than I'm used to, I realise that sort of betting just isn't me.

I really did have those two winning multis picked out and changed them at the last minute. If you want to, you can look at my post on page 46 and you'll see that I've edited it with just 2 minutes to spare. I am not claiming to be brilliant when I talk about originally having winning selections and then changing them. I am simply admitting a terrible flaw in my tipping in that I'm very indecisive. I wish I could stop that. :(

Yes, I'm guilty of that this week and I apologise. I must admit that I got very annoyed this week with some of the comments of another forumer and I let it get to me. Sorry. I'm going to try to stay quiet as much as possible from now on, both before and after games. :o

Betsy 10th April 2005 10:46 AM

No need to apologise, i'm a newbie compared to alot of you guys and i respect the majority of the members views. I must admit this forum is a ************ good one and i'd hate to see it go down the path of almost every other forum where 99% of the posts have no substance and the members constantly involve themselves in slanging matches.

I have to agree 100%. I have been a member of another forum totally unrelated to gambling for about 8 years. While it still has some useful areas in the forums, the general or conversation forum if you like has gone down hill at a rapid rate in recent times. I would hate to see that happen here too.

Lets stick to the topic and discuss each others bets with respect. I know I post a lot of crap from time to time, but believe me when I say I never intend to disrespect another forum member.

Good luck with all your "real life" bets, I would rather see you guys having a win against the bookies anyday! :D

Go the Port, Essendon and Broncos -7.5 today :fingerscrossed:

God knows I need to get something up. :)

Sportz.
What I normally do is combine as many as it takes to get about 2 or 3 to 1.
If that is 4 or 2 games then that will do me.5 games is getting a bit scary.

I believe you Sportz.lol.
Nah only muckin' around.I really do.
What you got is a discipline problem.Maybe it's time to take the blinkers off?
Funny how I had the worst tipping round ever this round, and possibly for the last 12 months, yet my wallet is telling me different!.As is the punters comp.
There must be some sort of wisdom in there for people of understanding.

Chuck 10th April 2005 04:18 PM

CB $12.23

Can i continue to use $5 an $2 bets, because otherwise i may only have 2 bets in me until the Free one?
