Well done Wesmip1. Managed to hold on in there after a big push by Wise one today, with a great place collect from a longshot.

All up though, we all lost to the bookies over the Carnival I think.

Thanks to everyone who participated and who did their best over a very hard Carnival !

Cheers.

Crash,

Thanks for running the comp.

Its interesting (to me) how I used a purely mechanical ratings system to choose 1 horse per race (ok 2 in some as I had $20 to spare most weeks) and it came out in front of everyone....

Good Luck.

Sounds like a bit of 'crowing' there mate :-))
I wouldn't be rushing into selling you mechanical method yet though as even after 83 bets, it still lost to the bookies and most of your collect came from a couple of longshots the system threw up.

After carefully re-checking the actual win/loss figure for the whole comp:

Wise One [missed a week actually]----------- O/L 900.......Rt 1054.......Profit 154
Wesmip1------------------------------------O/L 1000......Rt 870.........Loss 130
Magivor-------------------------------------O/L 900.......Rt 845.........Loss 65

Of special note*
InjuandaQLD------------------------------- O/L 300.......Rt 552.........Profit 252
I think we were all lucky this punter only punted for 3 of the 10 weeks!

Also, I'd like to point out that [with hindsight], my scoring system was very poorly conceived, as there was a lot to gained just by tunning up every week [even to lose] and those punters who missed a week here and there, were unfairly penalized. So I'm sorry about that.

Cheers.

Not getting too much water down there are ya Crash?

At least some of it is going into the Thompson Reservoir......

crash 2nd July 2007 02:00 PM

Hi Stix,

Just come back from a trip down to the shop [in a dry part of Paynesville] to try and get a few supplies . Water up over the bonnet of the 4x4 to get through. Wouldn't have tried it yesterday, so the flood here on the Lake has gone down quite a bit.
The poor ************s on Raymond Island will be trapped there for a few more days yet. The water is too high for their ferry to operate. A lot of serious flooding there. All their snakes have come over to the mainland.
