I think moderation was a bit overzealous before and now it's throttled back a bit to normal. I like the absence of foul language here, not that I'm a wowser, having served in the army I do have a fairly extensive vocabulary and use it when appropriate. Disagreement and mild biffo doesn't bother me at all that's what forums are for, to sort out different opinions and if gets a bit heated so what? Every forum is quiet, been so for the last year at least, bar those who promote tips. |

I would like to recommend a bot for you to look at. It is the Rolls Royce of bots and reasonably priced. You can make it do almost anything and it is fantastic for in running making "to bet or not "decisions based upon your rules in a split second. Two month free trial is available. |

Yes I have trialled it Speedy, but for whatever reason found the excel integration really easy to seize up? That's why I use Bet Angel now, it's bullet proof, but thanks for the suggestion though :) It's not the bot that's the issue it's getting the database squeaky clean of errors after importing outside ratings. You know, the horses name to match Betfair's, scratchings...., all that stuff? |
Understood. I use it for automated options based on price rather than pre chosen horses. It's a programmer's wet dream.

Not so easy to go the other way though - looking up a name using the BF name. The only real way is to use the tab number initially then do a sanity check on the name with the apostrophe stripped. Never ever ever use BF jockey data. They take the surname and the 1st letter of the 'given' name(s) regardless of what it is. So (for example) 'Ms Jessica Payne' becomes 'M Payne' which you'd logically think was Michelle. Matching Jockey names from different sources is a ************ nightmare. |
Seriously? b_l_o_o_d_y gets censored? What are we? 5 or something?

When I first joined jaz, about 2 weeks later I remember some stuff happened by others, stuff said, nasty stuff, and someone complained that put certain people in a "please exlplain" type situation. maybe not like I explained it, but in principle that why the censor thing. Gotta say, yeah well, if I want to be explicit, like ma*(&(*^fn&( og lahr, It's a form of Latin, |

I finished up with multiple fields for trainers and jocks in my database; title, first, second and surname plus initials where only available. Even if you get your info from the same source all the time the names still can come in different format. These days I can recall a good jock trainer from memory, not so easy if you use a bot. We standardized railway tracks, mostly anyway, so it will only be another 100 years before we sort this out. |

Most of us just click on the forums. On the main Propun page: Our main racing expert and editor of this website is curently in hospital. We apologise for the temporary lack of updates to ratings and links and the short term suspension of the forum tipping comp. We hope to return to normal by mid August. |

Jazzy, having run my own forum years back, you add a list of censored words to the database because mostly those words are used in an argument or derogatory comments. It saves a lot of moderation time. However, I see your point, that some words can be used in Aussie vernacular, and are part and parcel of a view and the way we speak generally. I think they just cover themselves to cut down having to go through every single post. |
