boys the beers would be on me tonight...i had a very very large amount (i won't say how much) on Portland Singa....i'm loving today!

Thanks L2B, he ended up at good e/w odds on the tote, thought the run of the second horse had as much if not more merit however. Shadowmaker (in a race where the winner reads so well, now) gave back my place collect on that so an even day for me, still well up for the weekend and will now wait to have a go at one of my favorite horses in El Man Goss first up Wednesday. Well done Chuck and the rest of you in the black today.

Cup Day Summary
 

Race 1.
Good start for the day with Unite and Prosper getting up ..also backed Katabatic....very good run by Unite who can go on with this and win a few.
Nice trifecta :)
Race 2.
Nothing much in this race..always a bit of a lottery..had go at Hello Possums but might as well thrown a dart.

Race 3.
Street Smart was to short..had a go at the trifecta but no luck.
timeless dane ran well.

race 4.
Suubird was ridiculous odds....good time to go the bar.

Race 5.
Nice result with Spirit of Tara finally winning back the money she owes me.
Great result with the 1st4 and trifecta as well.
Celebration time as i'm ahead now and its all just sit back and relax time..

race 6.
Had a go at Upiolio ..big loss ..great run by the winner and ready as.

race 7.
Big loss again as i had sizeable cash on County Tyrone...the pace never suited ..was wide the whole way ..never a chance.
$300 worth of 1st4's and tris and wasnt even close :)

I did a good job of stopping my roughie (Danasri) in the Cup.

One bet for the day for a DNF, that's racing.

I had yet another awesome day with the scratching of World Peace out of race 1 I ended up settling on Unite and Prrosper which basically then meant I couldn't lose on the day then the Cup I was worried where Portland Singa was drawn but to be honest it may not have won if it wasn't drawn wide because they may have tried to snag her back a bit from a good gate. When she turned in front by so far all I could was just yell and yell and yell but the time she got the winning post I was jumping up and down with no voice left. On a sad note Danasri broke down right in front of us didn't look good but from reports at the track sounded like they are trying to save him anyway which is good to hear.

Just thought I would use this now to say although Doomben maybe the most modern of the 2 race tracks I just love how close you are to the action at Eagle Farm between giving High Fives to Michael Cahill as he rode past on St.Basil after the win on Saturday to little things like patting Make Mine Magic at the end of the day I just had an absolute ball this weekend and probably would have even if I hadn't of won but the fact I won about 5 times what I came down here with just made it that much sweater.


Obviously I amnot talking from experience of ever being to carnivals in the past but if you haven't been to Straddie weekend then go you will love it.

I will add that I was furious at myself for dismissing Darci Brahma so quickly I just thought it's run last week was very very average certainly turned it around today much to my dispare knocking off my top pick in the end Ready As atleast the Singa made up for it.

I'm furious myself for jumping off Portland Singha onto County Tyrone..dont know why i did it..portlands runs have all been good and didnt deserve the odds he was at..
i usually back atleast 3 horses in a race like that ,,but for some reason just backed County and Pacific Dancer..i was just worried about where he would be in running from the barrier..oh well a good day just the same..

Will be taking it easy for awhile now...been a bit hectic the last month or so..

Have had a great carnival overall ...all started from way back when i got Gumnuts and Spark Of Life....

Still have the glasshouse and the Ipswich cup ..so theres still something around...

I agree Raw,,although Doomben has better facilities it struggles on the big days...eagle Farm is more open and crowd friendly,,has a better atmosphere as well...i was probably the only one in the ring cheering Gee I Jane home (except the bookies of course) and had people patting me on the back saying well done..great bunch of people..
Glad you got Unite and Prosper...put in some good performances last prep and will win a few more races ..
