mad 1st February 2006 03:02 PM

Boys we should reserve a table (or two) and have a mini ozmium tournie one night. Nothing major, $20 buy-in or some such for a bit of fun and bragging rights. Anyone interested?

Mofo 1st February 2006 03:52 PM

Yeah, great idea Mad. Would prefer a $10+1 at Party if that's doable.

mad 1st February 2006 04:12 PM

Certainly Mofo, just gotta drum up some interest and decide on a time. Will contact Party and see about reserving a table. Who's in?

Wesmip?
Mav?
Mr J?
Chrome?

wesmip1 1st February 2006 07:21 PM

I don't hae a Party Poker account so would need to get one set up.
I am happy to jump in but it all depends when.

maverick1993 2nd February 2006 01:12 PM

count me in ..sounds fun.. :)

mad 6th February 2006 02:37 PM

Boys was playing at Party last night and noticed a new feature, well i think it's new 'cos i've never seen it before. Can setup a private table with password entry no probs, click of a button type thing. 50c/$1 lowest limit available so i don't know if you'd be happy with that, but i suppose we need some more suipport before i get too far ahead of myself. Might have to start spamming soon, LOL.

BJ 6th February 2006 03:57 PM

I would be interested depending on when... Since I am not very good, my preference would be a low money table.. Wouldn't want to give you guys too much money....

Hey Mad,

Do they have that option in the sit & go's because that would really be ideal. That is, it would be ideal if we could get a group of 10.

The option you're talking about is a private table at normal limit poker. That's fine, I'd be in that too, but I think I'd prefer some kind of tournament.

mad 6th February 2006 05:27 PM

Hey fellas,

BJ - good to have you aboard. No stress, small stakes game. Just a bit of fun.

Mofo - i'll check with them to see. Nothing in stone at this stage so open to all suggestions. Just trying to get 10 people might be a struggle.

wesmip1 6th February 2006 06:59 PM

A suggestion ....

Everyone get a royal vegas poker account ( free $10 ). That way we don't have issues with people needing to put money into accounts.

Royal Vegas has Sit and Go Private Tables.

I will find us one we can use if I know the number of people who are going to play.

Therefore there is no excuse for anyone not to play ... real money play ( no deposit required ) and its a Sit and Go tournament ( no one has an advantage due to large money roll).

Let me know if you want it followed up.

wesmip1 6th February 2006 07:04 PM

Ok further to this ... for those that like low stakes games....

I found one which is 30c buy in (25c + 5c) and the winner takes all ( $2.50 ).

If everyone got the $10 free account this would give us approx 33 games which people could join in without having to fork out any cash.

I found two more tables, 1 paying 2 places and 1 paying the top 3.

All tables are password protected for our enjoyment.

mad 7th February 2006 09:39 AM

That sounds like the way to go wesmip, thanks for that. So now that we have found suitable accomodations all we need is to decide who and when.

Players at this stage:
Mad
Wesmip
Mofo
BJ
Mav

Need a couple more so jump on board fellas, free game and money. How bad?

wesmip1 7th February 2006 10:57 AM

If needed there are 5 player tables but I would prefer to play a 10 seater.

To get some interest going how about we run a mini comp with it ... we can record the results here for bragging rights.

luv2bet 7th February 2006 05:50 PM

Ive been playing poker a fair bit lately, still not very good at it but I'll jump on board for sure... sounds like a good idea.

mad 7th February 2006 06:22 PM

Great stuff luv2, chit thanks to wesmip's endevour it's free to play so why the hell not is what i say. LOL, i wonder if "hell" will get past the censor.

Stix 8th February 2006 07:16 PM

count me in........

.......but first what are your balances? :D

wesmip1 8th February 2006 07:30 PM

Stix,

Great to have you aboard... Haven't started yet so $10 is everyones balance.

But not for long .....LOL

mad 8th February 2006 08:20 PM

Good man Stix. Tried to get Neill to play but he said he doesn't play. I coulda' swore i saw him posting re: stretegy in here before. Oh well, i think he's scared we'll beat him, LOL. (Told him i'd say that). Anyways fellas we're getting a likely bunch of misfits together now, should be good fun.

Misfits so far:

Mad
Wesmip
Mofo
BJ
Mav
Luv2bet
Stix

Did i miss anyone?

Real Deal 9th February 2006 07:50 AM

I am in.

Havent read back a whole way yet but sounds like a good idea.

Mr J 9th February 2006 09:27 AM

"I folded a huge raise, and of course the 10h came out, but in the long run it has saved me heaps, the odds of getting the next needed card are very slim."

A read is what matters here. You'd push back at him unless you thought he had a set or a better flush draw, and he will do this with alot more hands. As for slim odds of getting a card, you will make a flush or straight more than half the time if you see the river. I doubt this was a good fold, but I know nothing about your opponent.

Chrome Prince 10th February 2006 08:18 PM

Mr J,

How is it possible to make the flush more than 50% of the time when there are 4 suits in a deck?

Stix 10th February 2006 09:17 PM

Table #4019042

i'm on table 4019042 if anyone "out there" is up and happening (and still "talking" to me... sheesh !!)

mad 11th February 2006 10:24 AM

Sorry Stix, i missed the post but i'll try and catch up with you next time so i can take all your chips.

Jack Daniels 12th February 2006 12:50 PM

Sounds like a fun, who ever said NO to a free game.

Count me in :D

I take it it would be a night time thing. A Friday or Saturday would be good for me due to work committments, not sure about you pros though. ;)

I'll check back here in a day or two to see whats new.

Mr J 12th February 2006 03:34 PM

Chrome, I said flush OR straight draw = 15 outs for around a 54% chance of hitting.

mad 12th February 2006 03:59 PM

Great stuff fellas, we're getting on a roll now. Gee, i tell ya this is some list of "wise guys"

Mad
Wesmip
Mofo
BJ
Mav
Luv2bet
Stix
Real Deal
Jack Daniels
Floydyboy (upon his return from NZ).

Now that we have ten players or so (more welcome) when is a good time for everyone? In the evening sometime i suppose, unless you want to quit your day jobs for a 50 cent game of poker. Anyway, JD would prefer the weekend. Hows about a Sunday evening/night game? Open to all suggestions.

Real Deal 12th February 2006 06:01 PM

Sunday definately best for me but hey i am free every night.

Best to organise it and set date a week ahead-surely everyone checks in at least once a week. Need to get the times also organised, surely we are not all vics like me.

luv2bet 12th February 2006 08:23 PM

Sunday is good for me as well. Usually too sloshed on fri/sat nights for cards.

BJ 13th February 2006 02:14 PM

I am usually pretty good for any night except one with a night gallops meeting. Sunday night is pretty good for me after Perth races if applicable.

Couple of days notice and I am there with bells on...

wesmip1 13th February 2006 02:34 PM

Looks like Sunday night it is.... sounds ok to me.

Now since we are going to play a SnG we need to confirm everyone will be there. The game won't be able to start without 10 players (or 5 players).

This is why it would be good to have 12-13 players and 2-3 players as reserves just in case someone doesn't make it.

Lets start this Sunday.

Can everyone please get an account early this week at Royal Vegas Poker and post here their username.

Thanks

BJ 13th February 2006 02:36 PM

Furthermore, we could think this through a little more, and take advantage of some of the bonuses on offer. One such example is the refer a friend $50 bonus.

Would need to be looked into further, I am not sure if this wipes out your 40% deposit bonus or what is the go. But if people are going to be depositing real money at some stage, then these things should be looked into.

BJ 13th February 2006 02:53 PM

I just created an account, with the alias BJ_____. Appears I did something wrong though, I didn't get any free money. Do I need to deposit to claim this bonus or what. If that is the case I would just prefer to play at PartyPoker where I already have money.

wesmip1 13th February 2006 04:07 PM

BJ,

Give it 24 hours .... You will get your $10 free. I thought the same thing and then it appeared the next day when I logged in ... that is why I suggested everyone get an account early this week.

Thanks

BJ 13th February 2006 04:24 PM

OK.. All is good then... Well I am all hooked up then and ready to go. Have we come up with a time? I am thinking maybe 9-9:30?

luv2bet 13th February 2006 05:42 PM

Im ready to go for sunday. Going by the name of NICEWAN.
Ill check back later in the week for times etc....

Huh? I'm puzzled as to what a stariaght has to do with a flush.

If we are talking a straight flush, then the odds are against you unless you have the Ace, the Ace is already on the table and you have the King etc etc.

The fold was good proportionally, it's like kicking yourself because a horse under the odds won and you let it go without a bet?

Frustrating, but good play.

wesmip1 14th February 2006 06:13 AM

Chrome,

Straight or Flush draw is as follows : (where c=club d=diamond h=heart s=spade).

I Hold 8c,9c
and the flop is 7h, 6c, Kc,
and the turn is Qd

My best drawing hands at this stage are the open ended straight ( 6,7,8,9 ) or a flush ( need 1 more club)

Based on the cards we have seen (well those in our hand and the table) we have 16 outs. (4s,4d,4h ,Th,Td,Ts give a straight) and the clubs ( Ac, Qc, Jc, 7c, 5c,4c,3c,2c, for the straight) and 4c or Tc, (giving a straight and flush).

Count these up and you have 16 cards. So 15 outs was wrong. There are actually 16 outs or 16 cards that could appear on the river to provide a winning hand.

Since the deck is 52 cards and we already know 6 of those cards, we can calulate we have a 16/46 (or 34%) of hitting a winner.

Now it all comes down to pot odds in a ring game on whether to play the hand. As this was a tournament game I would go either way depending on what I felt the other player had.

Oh course if we looked at this just after the flop it would be a different story. Chances of hitting 1 card needed on the turn or river to get a flush is 1.75 to 1 against hitting it (which are not bad odds) It is similar with the straight hitting an open ended straight is approx 2.3 to 1 against hitting it on the turn or river.

Anyway hope that helps explain it ... I am not sure where 50% came from with Mr J.

Good Luck.

Real Deal 14th February 2006 04:23 PM

I'll probably end up depositing money into the account if the site is good. Especially if there is a deposit bonus. If this is like the Party refer a friend bonus then I'll certainly use someone as a referrer.

Anyone done any further investigation into this? What do I need to do? I'll sign up Wednesday or Thursday.
