9th race - Retama Park - September 08, 2005

#...Horse..............Win....Place....Show
4 Mr. Question......14.00..9.00.....6.00
8 Five Flags..................12.00....4.80
3 Corp Trip...............................5.40

"MR. QUESTION (won by 3 3/4L) contested the pace while three wide, edged clear inside the half-mile pole, gamely repelled the bid of CORP TRIP in upper stretch then drew away under strong urging."

Looks like the hand brakes were released tonight :)

saratoga samchaz 9th September 2005 02:49 PM

He did draw off, didn't he! I wish I could of caught that triple and exacta but I just barely got the win in as I was watching Aussie when they were going in the gate. Thanks Avenge! and thanks for alert, Brave.

Branch Out First start, sat outside leader in crazy speed duel, were 6L in front of field, kicked clear in the straight, only tired last 100m. In Mick Price stable, will win races.

One in a MillionWould love to see this horse draw a barrier. Sat outside Lotteria first up & today raced 3 wide no cover outside the leader in a solid pace. Huge merit. Worth noting the other 2 horses finished last & 2nd last.

Chuck 10th September 2005 06:28 PM

Fourofakind

Was blocked for a run the entire race, got through with about 40m to go and dashed to the line to grab 4th,,,exciting horse

saratoga samchaz 11th September 2005 03:50 AM

Brave, sorry. i've been giving credit to Avenger for tabbing Mr Question. Good job there. He was stepping out of State breds to open company but he handled the jump no problem.

dundas lane 11th September 2005 12:46 PM

ON A JEUNE - Since winning the Cranbourne Cup LR last year when he drew a middle gate (8/16), this horse has drawn the following barriers. Geelong Cup (16/16); huge run!, Melbourne Cup (18/24), Ballarat Cup (16/18), Open Hcp (2/7 First Up), Open Hcp (10/10), John D Lee LR (15/17), Balaklava Cup LR (15/15). Providing he gets some luck with the marbles this preparation, I think there is alot of upside to his staying potential.

Note: Placed in the South Australian Derby G1 when drawing (15/16).

APPROACH THE BENCH - Finished off last campaign with a placing and then a win in consecutive MW0 races at Moonee Valley. As it stands today, his career stats are 8 starts for 4 wins and 4 placings; (all seconds). Races handy and has great fighting qualities. Yet to be produced this spring but a definite watch!

ASPEN LIGHTS - Good wraps on him before his shocking failure at debut on a heavy track at Bendigo; stewards queried the ride. Wait for him on a good track some time after the carnival.

ADIOS DAPPER GAWLER R6 No.5 (1600m)
Flew home 2 starts ago @ $36 from wide barrier, dissapointing last start 7th in barrier 2, again in 2 this time so maybe would prefer wider (ran 2nd @ Chelt in Jul form Barr 16), still should be nice odds

My bb comments "Goul 2/9 bolted home - awsome turn of foot @ 200m put 4lngths on them inside 50m"

First Starter ran 3rd recent trial, 4lnghts... bit of a speculation

SPORTIVO BELMONT R2 No.1 (1000m)
Fantasy Stable Hose...so just a specy

LINDHOLME DOOMBEN R7 No.3 (1650m)
Charged home for 3rd at Ipswich on 2/9, extra distance will suit

Manilla Boy has yet to win a race, having been placed five times in Brisbane city races, including Listed company. If ever this 3YO is going to win a race it will be next start.....??

OCTOBER GREY DOOMBEN R8 No.6 (1200m)
Has two 2nds from two starts, is drawn wide, but has Cahill this time

MATRAS SANDOWNHILLSID R7 No.8 (1600m)
Looking at the better races this spring, was not overly impressive las start so, must go close this time. Drawn wide, but has drawn wide twice previously, so no real concern

VATANA SANDOWNHILLSID R4 No.12 (1800m)
Ran @ Bendigo 11.08.05 - finished well very close, is consistent and has been taken to town. Has S King, drawn well... should be nice E/Way odds

Huge result there with Macs Tune. well done!

Tenacious Spirit 19th September 2005 03:13 PM

Pendragon. Got the 1800 which is what he wanted, 3 wide the trip, looked the winner a long way out, looked like he didnt really like the whip in the straight, looked like he was getting a bit tired before stretching out for the last bit.

Isanami. Had a pretty hard run and then copped interference. I don't think he would have picked up the first 2 but he is just working up to a nice win.

BELLA SENORA WARWICKFARM R2 No.5 (1100m)
Ran second to a 27-1 shot.... so tad unlucky. Hope to be nice e/way odds

CLONTAAGO WARWICKFARM R6 No.8 (2400m)
Slowly away two starts ago. Jumped with them last time and won paying $6's. Worth another shot... hope to get the same (hope)

Rudolph 20th September 2005 01:36 PM

Sale Race 10-No.8 Goalkicker
Beat a handy field at Cranbourne before going to town, had to carry 57.5.
Been given a freshen, back to 1200 Class 1, and drops to 53.5, should be good EW odds.

*Even with 58 the topweight does look hard to beat.

I reckon this thread has a pretty good stike rate.

I reckon you would have made money if you had gone say 1x2 or 1x3.... not so sure about level stakes the win though.....

I've got a heap of BB's today.... pretty confident with them... wait and see!

Hope everyone keeps contributing

Good Luck....... and giddy Up!

ID LIKE TO KNOW HOW YOU HAD COVET IN GOLD B/BOOKED, HASNT RUN A GOOD RACE FOR AGES AND EVEN THE OWNERS WERE READY TO SEND IT TO DARWIN, YOU MUST OF SEEN SOMETHING WE HAVNT. GETTING PLENTY OF WINNERS FROM YOUR BBOOK I SEE, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK..

Tenacious Spirit 23rd September 2005 06:50 AM

Its weird. Just a while ago (3 months ago) i black booked a few runners after i saw them do pretty impressive runs. Like 90% of them ended up winning after about 2 or 3 runs after the one i blackbooked them, not ness the first run after i blackbooked em. The thing about this was, by the time it got to the third run after the BB most had jumped off but i got 20's or more for most of them which means i got all the money back on them and then some.

TS

Loyalty can pay off..... no doubt! It's hard to follow some of them some days.... i.e. MR KYKUYU (would of been well in front on this horse if had done the right thing...)

Hate it when you let them go and they turn up the next start and win...... geeeezzzz I hate that.... but value is the reward....

Is three BB's for a Friday acceptable?? (LOL)

BELLA MACCHINA SCONE R8 No.3 (1100m)
Is a consistent horse, up in weight this time, has won at this track and likes being on top of the ground. E/Way maybe...

MISS BRIDPORT MOONEEVALLEY R3 No.7 (1200m)
Won Moe Maiden at first start, where raced greenly but finished of the race really well - taking on some good ones here (4 Rewaaya/2 Megadeal/1 Bodacious Harmony), but @ $13 pre-post represents good value (me thinks anyway!!)

RED DAZZLER MOONEEVALLEY R5 No.3 (1600m)
Was dissapointing last start when pulled up sore - but has somethin about him - his previous run was excellent (3 len to 2nd, 3 1/2 len to 3rd) in heavy - so soft going will be appreciated and extra distance suits

Good luck.... Giddy Up

JOE DIRT ROCKHAMPTON R7 No.12 (1200m)

Has won three on end after a series of placings, has been "up" for a long time, but appears to relish the racing. Placed every start @ Rocky and 5 of 8 at the distance. Has a wide barrier and is only reason to tip against him here, as record from wide is a little suspect (as are all horses!) Up into open grade, but down in weights 1.5kg on last run, and he has carried 61kg to win this preperation. The other item to note is a new Jock on board today... Merritt

Obvious dangers are:
2 Bourverie's Jest
3 The Falcon
9 Bro

I'm going to go:
12,2,3 - 2,3,6,9,11,12

Good Luck
