i wonder what your pot would be if you calculated it on the basis of getting best starting price about your selections (any tab or sp)???

Pot would logically be better if you could in theory "get" the best odds in every case, but in practice would expect that would mean monitoring a number of sources and / or placing bets well before time or at last minute.

Hi noel,

Actually POT would be significantly better if you dropped any runner which started favourite!
However, all my selections are done 24 hours in advance without a prepost market at my disposal and without scratchings or track condition.
If you are following the selections at all, my advice would be to not bet on any horse starting favourite and no bets at all if the track condition is worse than DEAD.

Interesting today, that we didn't get the winner as Liquid Lunch was expected (by me ) to be a scratching - long time since I've seen a horse back up the following day :eek:

Having said all that, I might say that all results are posted in S-TAB divvies, so more than likely if you were able to obtain top fluctuation profit would be significantly higher.

I'm interested in how you come to choose the race for the selections ie do you exempt maidens, F&M, 2 & 3 yr olds, races with too few/many starters, number of percieved chances? Can you throw some insight on this? Once again, thanks for all your input on this forum

In answer to peakster...
The races selected are where there is a smallish field, with a distinct "class" advantage of the three runners selected. You will notice that all races are either Class 4, Class 5 or Open. So no maidens or lower than class 4 races.
The aim is to select the horses with class runs, but not necessarily wins under their belt. Of the three selected we are standing at about a 60% RACE strike rate.
Unfortunately all selections are done without a pre post market, so many winners are under the odds. It might pay to select value horses or target quinellas to get the value.
The worst win dividend has been $1.60, but the best has been $10.80.

An important lesson to any investor is that they need to realise that in any betting series your going to have Hi's & Lo's in your bankroll.
If you run MCsim's on your betting stats, you will find in most cases you will hit your Minimum bankroll 9 times out of ten before hitting your Maximum Bankroll in a 100 betting seriesthe minimum will occur on avg just looking at your stats from bet 40 - 60 your max bankroll will on avg be from 50-80 in your betting series.
If your using a mechanical system in your selections.....confidence should be currently building..but!!
if you have fiddled your selection criteria after seeing your POT dropping...you have done like so many and headed down the road of dispair....
