Congratulations in order for Sally Pearson. Just won the 2014 Sportswoman of the Year award.
And last week, also crowned the most inspirational Australian athlete of the past 12 months.
Well done Sally!

Yes, well deserved. And Sally has a new coach. Ashley Mahoney.
Ashley is also a podiatrist. He will be concentrating on the technical side of Sally's running.

On the subject of awards & Commonwealth Games, Cate Campbell, who won three gold medals in Glasgow followed by four gold at the Pan-Pacs in August, was a clear winner as the Australian swimmer of the year.

Likely won't be competing but Valerie Adams has voiced her concern about the prospect of her sport being dropped from the Olympic Games.
Shot put is one of five sports that may be cut from the Games after 2020, with the International Olympic Committee wanting to modernise and update the event. Will be interesting to see to what degree the Commonwealth Games Federation follows suit.

Sounds like Pearson may miss the Beijing world championships
Broke her left wrist in a dramatic fall at the recent Diamond League meet in Rome
Sally hit the fifth hurdle & fell to the track midway through her race
Broke the ulna & the radius & also dislocated the joint
Ouch!

Sands 7th June 2015 07:14 AM

Have seen the replay
Sally wasn't traveling that well & really made a mess of the hurdle that caused her to fall
He's hoping just a minor setback
