Ellicorsam (race 4) returns from an unsuccessful stint over east. Likely to be a very warm favourite. Won 3 in a row before going east - average winning margin around 4lens.
|
I see Elli's 1st start (close 2nd) was on a slow track MyHatMyCoat, so should do OK on the heavy.

At least half a dozen genuine chances at first glance.
Priceless Matt could make it a Coolgardie Cup / Boulder Cup double. Ran a close 2nd last year in this race behind Space Age who started at cricket score odds. Others who performed well in this race last year include Mr Guilty and Morocco Bound. Recent arrival from Vic, Sir Bollinger about ready to show some form. Well backed first visit late last year but failed dismally in the group3 RJ Peters Stakes. Blevvo back in form, step up in distance in his favour. Beaten Coolgardie Cup (1600m) fav Ca Cao will also appreciate the extra distance. Likewise My Thornbird and Field Commander who were also well fancied in the same race. And there are a few others in with a good chance. Hopefully some good value to be found. _________________ All the best from the West Sandgroper  [ This Message was edited by: Sandgroper on 2004-08-30 22:50 ] |
A couple of horses who finished behind Mr. Tambourineman in the Darwin Cup recently, have returned home and race in the Balaklava Cup this Wed. Capo Del Opo and Pray In Vain.
On their Darwin efforts Capo Del Opo looks to have the edge but Pray In Vain has started twice at Balaklava for a win and place. Both look nicely weighted. _________________ All the best from the West Sandgroper  [ This Message was edited by: Sandgroper on 2004-08-30 23:01 ] |

Should be a great race Sandgroper.
I'll be including Mercedario in my multiples. Good draw. Should now be race fit. And expect nice price. |
Sandgroper, doesn't take me that long to see where "Value" is,
But it's Blevvo that sticks!! |
Last time Blevvo won in a preparation he went on to win 6 of 7 next starts. Beat Constantinople last start that horse winning since. Does look well in partypooper.
Also like Priceless Matt. Fred has got him back to his best at the right time. My Thornbird looks well in on the limit & although the form guide says 10 of 16 last start only beaten 3.25lens after getting back too far early on. Nothing wrong with Changing Lanes form. Only beaten a neck by Priceless Matt last start in the Coolgardie Cup & meets PM 1/2 kg better in this. |
I guess the PPM special would have to be in order (if any get a start) - Gambace, You Are My Hero & Violent Wind. Otherwise Star Of Telesto. All would have some chance.
|
Reported Northerly still in work, Kersley planning to start him in welter over here 11th Sep. Then going east, if all is well.

Yes almost demister jay. Just a lip in it. Fought on extra well.
$10 place and managed the quinella, so wasn't all gloom and doom. _________________ All the best from the West Sandgroper  [ This Message was edited by: Sandgroper on 2004-09-01 20:40 ] |
The O'Grady Lefroy
Double Jewel will be too speedy for this lot. Nice and fresh Moon Talk should run on well for 2nd. Shake My Hand and Uncle Brian should fight out 3rd and 4th. |

Sad news! Ex WA star Shot Of Thunder had to be put down at Glenlogan Park stud (Qld) after a freak accident yesterday, the stallion fracturing a femur.
