County Tyrone has won two races in the last 29 months, Railings hasn’t won a race for 17 months, Soulacroix has never run a place in a Group 1, Group 2, or Group 3 race in 23 starts to date, so where is his class? Confectioner hasn’t won a race since September 3, 2005, so that’s 18 months and he’ll need a traffic cop to show him to the winner’s stall if he does bob up one day. Spirit Of Tara won just one race in the entire year of 2006 and that was in a photo finish at Eagle Farm, so based on that historical masterpiece with the same strike rate thoughout 2007, he may not win another race in 2007, as last week he won his one race for the year. Then we come to the aptly named Vanquished. He hasn’t won a race for over a year (2/1/06) and is second-up in seven days, begging the question – what did he do to deserve that?


So Desert War is the class runner, but he couldn’t beat I Am A Pie Eater last start, which all begs the question: can some breeder around Australia please start breeding some decent horses? Out of 20,000 foals a year for some years these are the disgraceful excuses for horses we finish up with. Fair dinkum, I’m glad everyone thinks we’ve got the breeding bit down pat now. Horses like Miss Finland beat a horse like Casino Prince by a wart last week and he can only win one race in the year and she’s a “champion” according to everyone, because she beats the same bunch of scrubbers in her own age group each start. Many people need to take a serious reality check at understanding the definition of the words “champion”, “class” and “acceleration” as they relate to thoroughbreds.'']
