2.50 about Spikes on course ?? even i would of jumped on that.

Don't know about on course but IAS didn't get under $2.5, opened about $3.... I got $2.8

maverick1993 30th August 2005 02:22 PM

Tarbs ..i've been looking at Betfair for awhile now....has alot of merit ..
actually i could make a stack laying my midweek tips :)
I see alot of false favs around on the Saturday..hyped up by media tipsters ect ...easy money to be made if you've got the smarts..

maverick1993 30th August 2005 02:26 PM

your still alive tarbs in the treble...wish i saw that 5 you selected ...knocked me out of it...all hopes today now on itsamonty :(

tarbs 30th August 2005 02:28 PM

didnt rate it with the other three, missed by a nose, suppose you just roll with the punches. You have to follow your ratings and strong tips or else your all over the shop and lose in the long run, I rarely ever put in $2-$3 fav's in trebles (especially on tuesday with small pools - large TAB commissions), if I do I have rated them highly and as a standout with a ruffie and increase the bet.

Would have been nice though to get the 5 up in first leg - had field in 2nd and confident with a tad cool in last - if it gets up with bella and pay's well I will be a little disappointed but it is tueday and these things seem to happen more early in week, looking forward to tommorrow in Adelaide, very confident with a lot of these. Probably wont look anywhere else unless someone out there has a special! (leave me out of sydney though!)

Restrospect is a beautiful thing....I'm dreaming now!

tarbs 30th August 2005 02:29 PM

You beaut...

didnt eveen look at results I was so disgusted!
Now it could be a good day!

Thanks MAv, about to switch off radio and Computer and go for a run. Might crack open a coldie now an settle in and enjoy!

tarbs 30th August 2005 02:37 PM

Sorry Mav, I only posted it just before jump (after I had placed bet) sorry about that but I did actually think Our Alakabar was best pick.

now i wish i doubled my bet.....
but then again I did only rate a tad cool a 3.70 favourite, so it is more open than my treble suggests, Must admit though I'm confident ( and would love a real ruffie in the next!) but generally miss trebles by a whisker, but thats OK in third leg, hate going out in the first!

Sportz 30th August 2005 02:41 PM

Sorry Tarbs. Deleted my post when I saw the final result. I got fooled by the call just like you. :o

Good luck with your treble. If an outsider gets up in the middle leg, perhaps you can have a saver on something in the last leg.

maverick1993 30th August 2005 02:46 PM

Clontaago ..$6 ?? the beadman factor again

tarbs 30th August 2005 02:49 PM

Didnt post this originally, but given track bias in warwick farm brings a couple right into it:

Race 7: Leave out the 1 now, think it brings the 2 and 4 right into it with 3 right behind. They all like to race on pace, and a dollar short is best pick at value from the 2 with 3 right behind. The 7 horse also likes to race handy

Race 8: Alot of pace! Who knows who will lead? I like the 6,7,8 from the 1 - they all should challenge for lead. 8 on top from 7 then 6 and 1.

I will take the double here a few times, value I think:

2,3,4 - 6,7,8 - may put the one in final leg depending on price/ pool size etc

Will probably put in a straight out double as well : 4-8

But who knows in Warwick farm today! I hate track bias, because even the backmarkers try to push up due to instructions from owners etc.

tarbs 30th August 2005 02:55 PM

whooooo hooooo, come on a tad cool

Easy trifecta at Sale..needed old Ed to run a place to make it worthwhile...think hes still running :) get a tri 5 times and still end up behind..

hoping for another treble today...going 3,4/3,4,12/4 ..

that treble would be looking promising if the 4 in the first leg had a bigger nose... :(

go tarbs ..

tarbs 30th August 2005 02:59 PM

how confident are you with yours Mav in the next at Warwick farm?

Didnt include it, and missed its last run. Were you looking for better price?

tarbs 30th August 2005 03:02 PM

Mav

You had the 4 i have the 6 in the last leg. Given mine knocked out yours in the first leg, yours will probably knock out mine in the last! Thats usually the way it goes isnt it!

maverick1993 30th August 2005 03:03 PM

was hoping for atleast 10s ,,good last 2 runs..but does get back,,
Beadman might ride it diferently today though...open race this one ..

I picked both of them.

Do you think you should have a saver on something?

maverick1993 30th August 2005 03:06 PM

IAs gave me 12's so i'll take it,,, come on beadman .... :)

Yeah, I originally picked 1 & 10 in the next race, but I'm not confident now!

lol you and your savers Sportz.....live fast die young is my motto :)

Sportz 30th August 2005 03:09 PM

Geez, I'd hate to have just one horse in the last leg and it goes down by a nose to your second selection and you miss out on a big div.

maverick1993 30th August 2005 03:12 PM

its ok when you have a Sirenese in the last leg :)

Sportz 30th August 2005 03:14 PM

Phew! Just got there! :)

luv2bet 30th August 2005 03:16 PM

See a blackbooker Ed posted is running in the 9th at sale Boys of summer. Its down a class from last run but has drawn wide. Over this journey shouldnt matter too much, currently well into double figure odds... worth a look in..

Stix 30th August 2005 03:18 PM

Thnx Sportz

Nice work Sportz.....

exacta paid $70.... and the tri $1450

Well done..... again !

tarbs 30th August 2005 03:19 PM

Yeah, but only a little one Sportz.

My trebles are usually only smallish outlays, so a loss generally doesnt hurt too much, so will cover it with i think with the 2 e/w. Why is everyone tipping the 4? I must have missed something. I rated it about 6th best with a tad cool clearly on top from 2,3,5,8

I remember the first treble I got up was my biggest. Straight out at Victoria Park mid week meeting. Had what I thought were the 3 fav's - Herecles down the straight which paid $3, then one of Haye's horses in middle leg ($2.50). Finally It came to the 3rd leg I had old Frenzel Rhomb, who was paying $28 in a crappy staying event!!!!. Looking no chance on the turn he stormed home, treble paid $550 and I had it 10 times. Loved playing with them since, but generally only take one or two a month as they are probably the least profitable betting type offered by the tab unless you have some good mail.

approximate is $772 so hope it gets up.

Well done!

luv2bet 30th August 2005 03:23 PM

Just to through a spanner in the works I have South island rated on top at $4.50, with ollie cheval not far behind it.

tarbs 30th August 2005 03:25 PM

Dont you hate that....

I put the 7 in as a chance but didnt put it in tri!
So much for the 1 being unders!

Sportz 30th August 2005 03:25 PM

Years ago, I used to take doubles and trebles all the time, but I just sort of went off them. Now I hardly ever take them. Often, when I look at the results at the end of the day, I realise that I could have cleaned up if I had taken them.

maverick1993 30th August 2005 03:25 PM

good luck tarbs .. i need Itsamonty to get me out of jail today...if he loses i undo all the good work of yesterday and i'm back to even for the week,,
may the better horse win :)

tarbs 30th August 2005 03:26 PM

All will be revealed shortly....

Definetely going for that run if I miss here!

tarbs 30th August 2005 03:29 PM

running now....

maverick1993 30th August 2005 03:31 PM

and were both down for the count... it had to happen...to much weight on our horses...bad luck tarbs..
back to scratch for the week,,..big day tomorrow ....time to get stuck in..
a whopping 70% loss today :( ouch ..
need a drink or 2

tarbs 30th August 2005 03:31 PM

I'm afraid that was a bit of a speculative tip on Policy there looking for value. But Flaming was obviously the one when it shortened in the betting like that. Got the first 4 in my first 5 tips. Did the same in Race 7 at Sale, but unfortunately didn't take one with number 10 on top. Wasn't that difficult to do though.

i agree ..against the bias ,,from way back made a stack of ground...hopefully beadman wont be on it next time and we get a price.

luv2bet 30th August 2005 09:26 PM

Tomorrow looks to be a great day on the punt, having the day off might head out for the balaklava cup, then again might stay home too many ales on a day like that....
One ill be having a LARGE go at is Covet in gold. Its a mates horse and there is a lot of confidence about, stokes has had it in the bullring and its fired up ready to run. In a big field I would expect juicy odds, it should take a sit just behind the pace and rally late. Will need to be ridden well as it doesnt like running through traffic, but am confident here..

Going through the tapes be back later with other standouts for me..

Big wednesday ahead!!!

luv2bet 30th August 2005 09:29 PM

Might have a good look at your tips 2morow Mav, they cant keep a good man down for long!!!!!!!!!!!
