A few i like tomorrow..
Brissie
*Alana's Song (Lana Belle e/w), *Noble Gaze, *Prang (no's 6,12 safe)
*Tuscan Jazz (daimyo)
Balaklava
*Queen Catherine, *Gorilla Bisquit, *Toms Vision, *Enter the sandman,
*King's Arch and Pride Of Archway ..go Mick :) *Brakenbury Bill
Belmont
*Foxaround
Wyong
*Johan's Toy, *Sky Blitz, *Rostrum e/w
Sandown
*Steelworker, *Ranson Claim

I like the Balaklava Cup...with Micks runners you have Pride Of Archway who gets back but can run on strongly..,,and Kings Arch who should be prominent and give good sight..Civil has to be kept safe..and for the excotics OnaJeune, baraba Rd and radiant star all should be there somewhere...looks a real good trifecta 1st4 race if you go wide enough..
Brakenbury Bill with the blinkers and the good draw could surprise at odds..Toms Vision form around the Lady looks to strong..(poor old Lair) Gorilla Bisquit in this ordinary lot atleast has some good form good lst few runs..,,,queen Katherine has ability and has been backed strongly of late especially on course tells me its working well..
Brissie doesnt look easy early on...Alanas Song might be alittle short..Noble gaze with finally a good draw has a big show...Prang is in good form..last run when a mile back against the tempo was good,,the extra distance is a queery ..Special langfur might get the lead here and if the leaders are winning and with Stathi aboard could get the prize....Pager if ridden quietly could come over the top of them all..
fairly confident with my Wyong, Belmont and Sandown selections..
have to many selections ..limit 12 but scratchings and short prices usually cull a few..

Good Luck all.. :)

Hope your right..having good and bad days,,,aslong as the good days are making up for the bad days alls good ;)
been really looking for value of late,, can be hard going and its easy to lose patience..
Have a few there tomorrow that should be real good odds especially at balaclava...good thing about the longshots is you only need to get 1 over the line to be ahead..

Good luck tomorrow Luv2 ... have a horse down there somewhere with Eric Musgrove that'll be over the jumps hopefully soon....will let you know when he's starting..

Might have a go at it Luv2bet,

Good too know a few of you here have interests in a few horses. Racing gets too boring if you dont have more of an interest than punting. We have had a little bit of success of late with my old mans horses, actually we just retired one last week, Rumah Batik. She won six (2 in town) and her maiden at $96 a couple of years ago (what a day! - think we were the only ones on her!, in fact she always won at odds), she ran second a couple of weeks ago to Pipkin in town in her swansong. Only a smallish horse, you had to get her on her right day or else she was a b****! (and she needed the bull-ring as well Luv2 to be anywhere near her best!!). Good luck to her though, think she will have a great foal (she's visiting distant music) as she's so well conformed and correct.

And I think tommorrow another of my old mans horses, On Focus, should have her first foal to testa rossa (hence my liking to the testa's!) - will keep you's informed on how the little one goes if your interested. She was an exiting horse, won 4 stakes races at two before getting injured. She still holds the track record for 2yo at Cheltenham running I think 56.85 for 1000m.

But enough reminising! (they were the good old days!) lets look to balaclava tommorrow instead. Real storm here at the moment though, hope it doesnt persist or effect the track. Winds up to 100km/h can throw up some rough results!

Adelaide:

Brackenberry Bill: I think is close to a special with the long straight an lots of speed

Keytocache: owes me a stack but has heaps of ability, stiff comp
from...

Diceman: (could be the one - recently won a trial by 4 lengths so abviously fit first up) Obviously tiara dane rates very highly.

Adios Dapper - blackbooker

Toms Vision a special from 2,3,5,8,9

CUP:
On a Jeune: really like this horse, dont know where he will possie up though, a real risk.
Barraba Road should have every chance with Gatt/gate 1 so will be on him, Stamen to improve and flash home, and Royal Jade with Didham on board.

Brisbane:

Picabelle

Sandown:

Delvechio and Princess of oz qn ex (lots of pace though so beware - could set it up for Our guided missile)

Maggies Mate/ Ransons Claim qn ex etc

Test zone

Jestawinna

I don't think so.

w924 31st August 2005 07:18 AM

HI Mav,
Dont know if you managed to see Flying Ed and Sabre run yesterday...Flying Ed ran out of puff very early and Sabre pulled its way out of the race... Drawn 1 yet ran wide without cover .. jock couldnt get the horse to settle. Probably best to forget both runs..esp Sabre's. If the connections didnt want Sabre to win, they sure got their wish..in spades

Pride Of Archway is a cat LOL..I'm just sore because I can never catch it..1600m is about as short a distance as I would ever back it these days. Maybe today is its day..esp if at good odds..i'll never back it when short ever again.

Good Luck Maverick..sorry about yesterday..I had a whole week like that last week. Got absolutley caned! LOL

Tenacious Spirit 31st August 2005 08:18 AM

These popped up in my horses to follow:

Adios Dapper - balaklava
Amboise - Wyong
Don't say don't - belmont -
Questionable - balaklava
Ziti - Wyong

I don't know what to do today. I am getting flogged of late. My only saving grace was shannon bank on saturday, which i decided to back at the very last minute. The one and only ever last minuter to come off for me lol.

luv2bet 31st August 2005 11:17 AM

Few more thoughts for today.
Balaklava.
**Tigara. should be fitter now couple runs in and hasnt been far away. Drawn well and should be running on at the post.
**Barabba road. Followed this horse for a while and has been close enough last couple of runs, has been running on well. As above should be fitter and ready to go. Good tri first 4 race i would expect big divvies. Include on a juene, civil, roman arch, radiant star, ottobello.
**COVET IN GOLD........ go you good thing!! Big go on this..
**Amber flow in the last. Bit of value here. Liked its last run a lot, although coming 5th was charging home and only finished 2 lengths behind proscenium arch who will run favourite today. The extra 50 meters and the long straight puts amber flow right in this, may be overlooked by many and result in nice e/w odds.

Wyong
**The merry widow. Should be suited by this distance, will break through soon for a win, like the walter/boss combo.
**Onion, probably wont have a bet on this unless odds permit but this will be very hard to beat.

good luck to all....

Sportz 31st August 2005 11:56 AM

Some tough races today. Not very confident, and found it difficult to cut down the chances in most races. Will be taking it easy and just looking for value.

Not a good start. :o

maverick1993 31st August 2005 02:30 PM

thanks w924...the runs sounded to bad to be true,,Flying Ed has had leg problems maybe they've come back,,Sabre just dissapeared ..money around for it aswell,,,will be wary next start..haven't seen the runs yet but have the copy...

Sad day for me so far..My dog of 13yos just died this arvo..had a stroke,.,weird ?? never knew dogs could have strokes,,real sad because it was 1/2 paralysed and couldnt walk or anything..heartbreaking to see...

Then i log on to see Toms Vision and Alanas Song have both lost...hopefully get a few winners today...need to pay the vet bill...and they know how to charge..
Confident in the Cup..go wide with the excotics..any of these could bob up in this race..

maverick1993 31st August 2005 02:39 PM

Noble gaze is a start ...better than expected divie...tri paid heaps ???? and 1st4 ????? jesus .....wow ..??starting to feel alittle better :)

maverick1993 31st August 2005 02:56 PM

You beauty..:) good old Civil..finally pays back some of the cash he owes me...but kelstein ?????????????? dam if kings arch puts his nose in front ,,i'd i've got the 1st4 ,,

Sportz 31st August 2005 03:01 PM

Kicking myself. Gaju Chief is such a swimmer that I really thought it had a great chance today. I just thought 6, 8 & 9 would probably have a bit too much class. Anyway, did well with quinellas and any2s.

Civil was good too. Took an any2 bet with Civil from the field. Paid very well thanks to Kehlstein. Would have been a beauty to do your field trifectas, Mav.

maverick1993 31st August 2005 03:06 PM

yeah.missed the gravy train there..just got alittle greedy i think..should of kept it simple..
Got Foxaround :) 3 in a row.. can pay the bills..

Protest ??????????????????????????????????????????? maybe ??? who was 6th ??

maverick1993 31st August 2005 03:12 PM

I have chickaloo for 4th ...so if the protests upheld against Kelhstein and Kings Arch is 3rd and chickaloo is 4th ...woohooo alot of ifs and buts though..
what happens to the 5th horse ?? who was 5th ??

Sportz 31st August 2005 03:13 PM

Amazing odds on Limarki!!! :D

maverick1993 31st August 2005 03:18 PM

great odds if you had it,,,had Prang who just couldnt finish off,,,the extra distance was always a queery..

maverick1993 31st August 2005 03:21 PM

oh well...happy with the result ..cant get to greedy :)

maverick1993 31st August 2005 03:30 PM

Johan's toy..always to good .... :) not a bad tri a few times for good measure..
got the double with Civil at 21/1 ... happy days..

I agree Sportz..Delvechio on class alone should of been a moral...i just dont have the confidence i once had down there in Melbourne..

i've been surprised b the excotics today..the mona lisa 1st 4 was $180 ....i'm not complaing :) ..love carnival time ..theres all that ma and pa money in the kitty..

Sportz 31st August 2005 03:35 PM

Delvecchio was too good for them too. Easy winner.

maverick1993 31st August 2005 03:59 PM

Nice result in the last in Brissie :) ..happy with the 1st4 and trifecta ,,would have been huge if Tuscan Jazz got up ..but the place divie at $4 will do nicely....been a great day..
Might have something on Sleek and Swift who's won for me in the past..
also have Ransom Claim left for the day...
way ahead ,,huge...after a very emotional day its come at a good time..

that'll do me..12 races is my limit..5 good ones 7 bad ...
great day ..nice double to top it all off ,,,

hope you guys cleaned up...i know Mr Ed a fan of Civil would of..

maverick1993 1st September 2005 01:57 AM

Just a few thoughts for tomorrow,,
Rocky
*Cindy Kate,,faces her biggest test here..but i think she can do it..i havent a jockey for her yet but hopefully a clamier to make it that much easier for her..
Charlie is going to be tough to beat and is the only one i'm worried about..
Cindy was wide on a unsuitable surface last start so it would pay to forget it..
*Tara's Song..racing in fine form,.,made a stack of ground against the bias last start and the start before...the extra distance looks to suit....i like Regimental but was dissapointing last start,,but will be thereabouts though..
Wyong
*Radetzky March...this horse has been real good to me...cant wait to see it tomorrow...Macs Tune has been racing in good form and likes the track is the only one i'm worried about...
wont take anything short ...
*Empyreal...great run last start behind stormhill...top jockey on board..can race handy. lead or come from the back and race on any surface..very versatile....,Dancing daggers is flying but always seems to leave it to late...

only the 4 for me tomorrow..lately i've been following up good days with bad ones so im alittle gaurded ..

Good Luck all :)

saratoga samchaz 1st September 2005 04:55 AM

With ya on that Gaju Chief Sportz. The old first up, ain't ready, not today even though he likes it heavy thing got me as well, but only in theory as the Turf CLub shut me down again anyway. They are unreal. It's like you're inconveniencing them by betting in their shop. I didn't tell them to start taking Australia. If you offer it, you have to stay open. Once in a while I can understand, but they call last race early all the time (even on Fridays when we are getting your best racing!) I looked at that site with the duets but they don't want anything to do with Americans on there. I understand the legal gray area, but I'm sure I can find a place to take my Aussie action if the Turf Club doesn't want my hard earned money. I used to bet sports with Bowman International from Manchester, England (with a phone center in Maritius to avoid any legal wranglings) and they are extremely dependable but they don't take any horse racing except the big ones, and even that is fixed odds win wagering only. I'm sure I can find one though.

Tommifrancs came through for ya Sportz. Not much odds but a win..... Luckily my shutouts last night saved me money as my only winners would have been short(really loved Johnny Be Good at Sand-6/5 is so short though). If you know of any shops that will take American action let me know please. I'd rather play Australian for all the turf breeding and quality horses than some of our junk tracks that run at night here. I'll stay home and listen on the computer to the calls on the Aus. radio. I think that's bril anyway.

gazman 1st September 2005 06:47 AM

hey there saratoga

have you tried ,,,,,iasbet.com.......i think there the best here and they pay better than than two of the three totes all the time and allways put there markets up early, its also a easy site to get around.........
we have a fish called a saratoga over here they say its over a million years old.
hope that gets you some were.........cheers....gaz.........

saratoga samchaz 1st September 2005 07:05 AM

Good morning, Gaz. No kidding a fish called a Saratoga? What is it, a freshwater trout or a salt water fish? You know, Bob Baffert nicknamed Kentucky Derby winner and sire that I see often in OZ, REAL QUIET, The Fish! They're better not be any real quiet's running today! He never even tried the turf but he sure has a few turf runners over there. He's not even listed on VIRTUALFORMGUIDE.com as as a top 100 sire in Aus. I will look into the betting shop you mentioned thanks.

w924 1st September 2005 07:11 AM

Hi Mav, sorry to hear about your dog..yep they get just about every ailment that we humans get.

wathched the cup..had a bit on the pride of archway "cat" ...suckred in by those long odds...but it ran true to my expectations of it..maybe needs longer...or retirement lol

Saratoga Samchaz,

Perhaps you can get in contact with The Avenger. He seems to have no trouble betting on Australian racing and he often gets very nice divs on our races.

Meanwhile, maybe you could take a look at these sites and see if you can sign up:

Saratoga:

For an American or Canadian, I recommend setting up an account and betting Australian on-line through either Brisbet.com or youbet.com. I have used both, and they are equally decent. As long as you have broadband, you can watch the races live. I am using Bris right now. Us North Americans have our own pool, so it does not affect betting in Oz. The beauty of it is as you learn to handicap Australian, and get the great tips from the folks on this forum, you will often get much better odds than they do, because of the relative lack of Aussie racing knowledge by your betting pool competition. I have gotten 30-1 on horses at only 5 or 6-1 in Australia. I watch an Australian betting site's tote board live every night, and bet as they do, frequently at a marvelous price. Good luck to you.

Regards,

Glenn

saratoga samchaz 1st September 2005 11:20 AM

Thanks for the info Venge and Sportz. I didn't realize Bris and Youbet took Aus but I guess it makes sense. I guess the time to get the real values are on weekends as the pools are a lot larger then. I was starting to think that the way to get the real value is bet through a couple of Aus spots and shop around as opposed to having to wait until the very last minute with the American pools to see the true values. I did set up, rather remewed my phonebet acct w/ Philly park last week but they close before Aus even starts and if you are a Delaware resident they won't let you bet NYRA tracks(Saratoga, Belmont, Aqueduct). It's crazy the rules they have. I'll probably be setting something up with a couple of places (Aus and US) if possible. I checked out IASbet and it looked excellent. I read the rules and conditions and it seems to be they stay purposely vague about the US and that's cool with me. They kind of hint that they do take US dollars and residents by explaining wagers and rules concerning US sports, even though I realize the punting savvy Aussies are known to throw down on the States and such. I actually was in the "business" over here for alot of my 40 years, on the right side if you know what I mean and was always trying to get this Aussie figure skater (Nah, he's cool as can be, with a hot wife) to bet, n his words "MERICAN FOOOOTBAAW! AY LOVE IT!" with me. It really sucks that this country is so politically correct and hypocritical that you can't even try to make a decent side buck. It's not like you aren't risking losing and the credit card companies charge a lot higher vig than 10%. I mean they get more than loan sharks! I will check out all those other sites as well. Thanks guys

Sportz 1st September 2005 11:31 AM

Wyong
Race 6 - 4 SKY RIGHT, 3 Diamonds'n'pearls, 2 Malita (4,3,2,6 - 7,5)
Race 7 - 5 MAC'S TUNE & 6 ON POTENTIAL (5,6,4,9 - 3,2)
Race 8 - 2 IRONGAIL & 1 DANCING DAGGERS (2,1,3,4 - 7,6,11)

Mornington
Race 1 - 12 VIAKALANI SMYTZER, 2 Berwick (12,2,3 - 11,5,4)
Race 2 - 13 TUNGSTEN JIM, 11 Silent Echo (13,11,6,12 - 1,5,4)
Race 5 - 2 INDICATES, 1 Lucky Benbara (2,1,3,7 - 4,5)
Race 8 - 10 BENKO & 12 KEJEN MISS (10,12,9,3 - 8,11)

Rockhampton
Race 4 - 3 ONE ALONE & 1 SMART GREEN (3,1,13 - 7,2,9,16)
Race 6 - 4 FROM THE TOP & 3 DEADLY CLANG (4,3,8 - 6,5,9,2)

Take care with race 2 at Mornington. I like Tungsten Jim, but there's a couple of first starters which could be okay. Watch the betting there.

What a shocking run from Viakalani Smytzer! :o

My 3rd selection won at nice odds, but I didn't even consider the horse that ran 2nd. Not a good start to the day.

maverick1993 1st September 2005 11:48 AM

Thanks W924....as you can see by my tips i'm very loyal to my stable,,,Lair , Grand Merlot,Tycoon rose are all testiment to that...
Kings Arch , Pride Of Archway and Civil are all horses i've been following this prep.....its hard for me when i have so many in the one race ..trifectas ect get hard like yesterday had every horse but Kehlstein...wanted to go over my stake but i'm disciplined nowadays as you have to be......

Like Cindy Kate today..wont know herself with that weight..St Spartica and Charlie are the dangers....would want 5's atleast..

Regimental and tara's song to fight it out....Regi might of needed that last run and should be improved ..tara really hit the line well last start...looking at backing both if the odds are good enough..

Mac's tune with radetzky looks alot better,,but theres mail around for him so he might end up being short...thought On Potential 8's in the paper excellent value..will work around these 2..

the cup looks a fight between Dancing Daggers and Irongail..but i'm hoping empyreal or Square one or even Wicked wizard can upset the apple cart ..
will back empyreal e/w and have a play with excotcs looking for value..

Dont mind Indicates at Mornington...
Good Luck all :)

saratoga samchaz 1st September 2005 11:55 AM

Sportingbet was extremely helpful on line and take US customers. And "LOST" i slike 2.50 for Best drama Emmy. A stone lock! George Bush and Tony Blair are quite the value for the Nobel Peace Prize at 101-1! I wouldn't take 1001-1.

Sportz 1st September 2005 11:56 AM

Mav,

You won't get 5s on Cindy Kate. She'll probably be around $3. Likewise On Potential won't be anywhere near 8s. It and Mac's Tune will probably be battling for favouritism around the $3.50 mark.

Ahh, that's better!!! Nice win and nice trifecta. :)

Shows the value of backing more than one horse in the race. I liked Tungsten Jim today, but he was VERY disappointing. Nice win by the backup selection.

Sportz 1st September 2005 12:56 PM

A few races I'm looking at for Northam:

Race 2 - 4 MAVERICK'S HONOUR & 10 OUR BESSY
Race 4 - 10 METALIKALI, 8 Cereiza
Race 7 - 2 RON'S FOLLY, 1 Beau Halo

Stix 1st September 2005 02:23 PM

Nice...

6 Big Red Ball...... nice divy Sportz. Well Done $17.40.

Desi 1st September 2005 02:25 PM

Like Ron's Folly too Sportz (good trial at Belmont 22/8 when running second best time of the day- Foxaround was the fastest) has won at distance and a good record at Northam...will be short though...also have Power Glide and Stormy Gale on the trials BBook but not sure how to rate the trials properly...watch all though Belmont races by video and again have to work out how to use info...any advice...:)

Sportz 1st September 2005 02:27 PM

Yeah, I didn't think it would pay that. Sky Right was a lot shorter than I expected and it was VERY unlucky.
