Highs and Lows

Thought Covertly was very disappointing in the 5th at Belmont today.
Perhaps the addition of blinkers had a negative impact!?
Conversely was impressed with the return to racing (last raced Mar 03) of the top weight same race Storm Shot.

Covertly was a well beaten (4.25 lens) 7/4 fav I think most punters would share your disappointment sportzcaster!!

Desi 27th September 2005 09:44 AM

Agree, Sportscaster, was boxed in along the rails but was never going to beat Gobiton yesteday hoping it will benefit from the run next start...

watsonnek 27th September 2005 09:45 AM

eazy as

…thought yesterday’s quaddie was one of the easiest to snag for some time…only worry was Covertly winning the first leg which would have meant a potentially low return…didn’t happen :) although I had to settle for a reduced divi in the end anyway…with my top selection Stratham Streaker dead-heating with Sunrise Soaring :( …..still $565.10 was a great return imo :D

watsonnek 27th September 2005 09:51 AM

computers!

PS sorry was not able to get on to post my quaddie selections yesterday…my darn computer developed some kind of boot up problem :( …luckily one of my mates works in the computer industry and fixed it for me….but took almost the whole day!!

Changing Lanes

Solid win by Changing Lanes today at the Lark Hill trials and would expect another good campaign will follow. Changing Lanes is the winner of the listed Bunbury Stakes, group III Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic and listed Belgravia Stakes.

Looking at those trial results shaun1993 was surprised to see that Changing Lanes only ran the 2nd fastest time of the day for the 900 metres

The best time of the day was run by an unraced 3YO filly called Orpenchic who obviously (by the winning margin) won her trial easily

Only other start she ran last in a trial at Bunbury in Feb

May be worth following at her first few race starts at the least

shaun1993 27th September 2005 09:28 PM

Yep agree Mav3000 worth a watch.

IMO The Gray Bear, Stormy Pleasure & Top Drive probably the top three chances from your grey brigade today puntersteve

Northam race 1

Might turn out a tricky little race the first
The Gray Bear and Wild Frankie will no doubt dominate the betting but will not be the least surprised if one of the other three cause an upset

My apology for posting on the ‘death’ for some reason I’m having problems (very slow response sometimes) accessing this site

Not having problems accessing any other sites ??

FYI included Pinch Of Spice as only finished 1.5 lens behind Maverick’s Honour last time they met (1400) and would be fitter for that run and previous form suggested would appreciate the extra distance of today’s race

Mav3000 28th September 2005 04:06 PM

..no worries westi and nice saver $16.20 / $5.40..logic for inclusion sound.. I often look at the past performances of horses lining up against a hot favourite today where they have previously competed against the same horse..looking at your logic and considering the win div for Maverick's Honour was $1.60..Pinch Of Spice at $16.20 was well worth a saver

If you are using a proxy westi might be the proxy causing the slowness and not this site you might want to seek out some fast proxies (i.e. use a search engine to find)

watsonnek 28th September 2005 05:40 PM

Cheers westman I do use public proxies but as I said when it's slow using this site it's not as slow using other sites

Thanks for the suggestion anyhow

I’m expecting a much improved run from Plastered but given his main mission is the Melbourne Cup would be pleasantly surprised if he finished in the top 3 or 4 in what looks to be a pretty strong Turnbull Stakes

Free At Last looks likely to miss a start but fingers crossed

Similar thoughts FremantleDoctor re Plastered and at 7/1 (current EW fixed odds for this race) happy to watch and hope for an injury free run

westman 29th September 2005 09:00 PM

If Free At Last gets a start will have a little EW but will wait till race day as I think she will start better than the 20/1 or 25/1 currently being quoted in fixed odds markets

Blimey charlie! I thought Polygram had retired!! ..surely he must be suffering the odd dizzy spell as a result of going around and around as often as he does !!! :)

Early thoughts Birthday Stakes

If you forget Call Me Henry’s last 2 starts (both on firm surfaces and over 1400) you would have to give him an excellent chance in the Birthday given likely slow track and the step back in distance. Legend Express has a great strike rate, looks nicely weighted and is unbeaten in the slow. Strong win by Stir Pak first-up beating last week’s sprint winner Gobiton and goes OK in the wet. Field Commander should now be race fit and also OK the wet. Intowishin goes well fresh and in the slow and might be value EW.
