Some toppies did very well at Belmont today!
Scuffs carried 58kgs to win R3. Now 2 wins from 5 starts for that filly.
Jarnot carried 57.5kgs to win R7. Now 16 wins from 37 starts for that gelding.
Sir Chalmers put up a herculean effort to take out R5 carrying 61.5kgs. The gelding has now won 7 races from 20 starts.

Also worth a mention, topweight Vigarage Gate (ridden by Ollie) took out Cranbourne R7 carrying 58kgs & Go Kart ridden by Zac Purton took out R5 at Warwick Farm carrying 58.5kgs.

Heard a report that the Broome champ will now be transferred from Phil Grantham to Neville Parnham. Guess we'll see more of Jarnot in the city from now on

Sir Chalmers

Didn't see the run but must have been some sort of effort to win with 61.5kgs (53 min) at a city mid-week!

A great effort coming from back in the field!

Some nice performances from some toppies so far today!
Most with the assistance of an apprentice claim ;)

However a few did carry their full impost - Craiglee Charm, Gold Coast, carried 58kgs in winning. El Maze carried the same weight to win at Morphettville, as did Translate at Belmont.

I think you'll find that Jarnot has since retired. An injury to a suspensory ligament is what I read somewhere.

Apparently Phil Grantham [owner] was told that Jarnot could have made a recovery in 6-8 months, however he has opted to retire Jarnot. Not lost from the racetrack altogether, reported that Jarnot will now assume clerk of the course duties.
