Ozgunner 3rd October 2005 05:50 PM

CAULFIELD GUINEAS 8/10

Im prepared to forgive Denmarket for his last start disappointing effort (3rd-up) behind Paratroopers in the Stan Fox

Previous start beat Stratum in the Roman Consul

Interestingly also disappointed 3rd-up previous campaign in Perth

Back to the Perth way of going in the guineas

Paratroopers is early favourite for the Caulfield Guineas at $3.20 (EW) Stratum is $11.00 (EW) whilst Denmarket is $35 (EW)

I know where Ill be putting my money

Chenille Prince 3rd October 2005 08:00 PM

Belmont trials today

The last trial heat at Belmont today turned out to be a two-horse war with old-stager Victory Trump just edging out Early Express in the best time of the day. Both horses are lightly raced and are returning from lengthy spells. Victory Trump (28 starts 10 wins / 7 places) last raced back in June 2003. The 9YO was a handy 2/3YO and also won the listed Birthday Stakes as a 4YO. Early Express (22 starts 5 wins / 9 places) last raced back in Oct 2004 when was a beaten fav in the listed Anniversary Cup. His last win was back in Nov 2003 beating Modem in the group II Lee Steere Stakes. Good luck to connections and let’s hope there’s a win or two or three around the corner for both.

In the end finished up likewise puntersteve after initially leaving Sikmrex out (thought carrying a little too much weight) but later included in my multis after seeing your post as you seemed very confident he would do well

Nice effort by Konjo in running 2nd but missed out (tri) with Elvis Rules running 3rd - every time I've backed Elvis Rules (which has not been often) it has performed dismally!

You can get 66/1 for Denmarket in NSW Ozgunner!

(7) Phormium ran a nice race when a close 3rd at Northam last start and will appreciate the 1400.

Imaginaire was really impressive again. Missed the kick slightly, had to make a sweeping move from last at the corner before reaching the lead and winning easily, thought eased up last bit.

As I mentioned in my earlier post she is bred to be good with sire Fusaichi Pegasus winning a Kentucky Derby and dam Beaux Art winning a WATC Derby and WA Oaks.

A trip east wouldn't surprise me. Since Saturday's race has firmed from 100/1 to 50/1 for the Thousand Guineas and from 50/1 to 30/1 for the Crown Oaks.

The Oaks looks a good target, Imaginaire has a good turn of foot and is sure to stay all day.

Be very surprised if David Edwards is not contemplating taking Imaginaire to Melbourne as she has the potential to measure up to the Vics and others.

Only other start she ran last in a trial at Bunbury in Feb

May be worth following at her first few race starts at the least

Orpenchic is a final acceptor for race 1 tomorrow Mav

Would be a big class rise

Imaginaire certainly won with a bit of authority Kingston Rule but not sure the class of horse flesh she has beaten so far and a campaign over east would be entirely a different kettle of fish

That said she IS bred to STAY ALL DAY as you have already stated

I’m expecting a much improved run from Plastered but given his main mission is the Melbourne Cup would be pleasantly surprised if he finished in the top 3 or 4 in what looks to be a pretty strong Turnbull Stakes

Free At Last looks likely to miss a start but fingers crossed

Reports are that Plastered pulled up well after his game fifth behind Makybe Diva in the Turnbull Stakes on Saturday

Plastered’s heart rate was a lot slower then after his Underwood run indicating his fitness levels are getting better all the time

He has been entered in the Yalumba but at this stage it is very likely that his next start will be the Caulfield Cup

I’ve got 2 black bookers running in the 1st at Belmont tomorrow.
(6) Metal Storm got into all sorts of trouble when backed and beaten first-up in April and is a recent trial winner.
(7) Silent Wishes again in all sorts of trouble at first race start a few weeks back but still managed a strong finishing 2nd.

grey matter

Just a handful tomorrow at Belmont. Matinee Appeal and Blancmange [partial] (1st), Danglememagic (2nd) and Calarosa Donna (3rd) make up the grey brigade.

I'd be running him in the Yalumba! Needs more mileage under his belt to be a real chance in the big one.

But then again I'm not a horse trainer!!

..the first at belmont tomorrow looks a shocker from an investment perspective,,,a class 6 it aint…either the top weight will salute at pretty short odds or pick the winner with a pin,,,wont be getting my money...

eagle1 4th October 2005 10:00 PM

Inclined to agree with you glenn101 but if you WERE DESPERATE for a bet in the race why not Paul Harveys mount Fleeting Angel......unraced but Paul must have some opinion of the horse to be climbing aboard.......

Was at the track for these trials Chenille Prince and would you believe the oldtimer Victory Trump looked a lot fitter than the younger Early Express

Others that impressed were Brocky's Ace (heat 3) who finished very strongly down the outside to win with something in reserve, the George Daly trained Behn Scenic (heat 6) who was always travelling well throughout showing great accelaration over the last 200M and Dee Picked (heat 6) who also travelled well throughout and showed similar accelaration over the last bit. Dee Picked in particular looked to have something in reserve at the end of the trial

Did notice Shaun, Thanx :)

If I can get 8/1 or better EW for Orpenchic I’ll speculate a little but as some previous posters have suggested this race could end up a blowout for punters

For this reason might also play around with the multis (favs and scout wide) just not sure at this stage who the players will be
