Wednesday 5th October, 2005 - CRANBOURNE CUP (2025 M)
Quote:
1st and 3rd was not a bad effort imo. Thought I’d snag the quinella there for a while but not to be. Winner won very well. Nice run by the Japanese horse Tosen Dandy to run 2nd carrying 58kg. Then again Show Barry was carrying only 0.5kg less. Free At Last disappointing but was running on OK at the end although well beaten. |

Let Go Thommo
Geez I was impressed with the way Let Go Thommo got to the line yesterday to win the 2nd. Nicely bred gelding by Laranto from Memory True. Might turn out to be more than handy.

Expert opinion
Quote:
Star studded line-up for the Moora Cup on Saturday going for the top weight and groupV winner Marooned Prince after an eye-catching effort in the Carnarvon Cup last start. Dangers look to be the former outstanding 2YO Millington Man and unlisted winner Mon Cheval. Rumours this race will soon be reclassified as a groupVI which will no doubt ensure an influx of interstate raiders (apart from Why The Long Face)! Be there or be square!! |
how you can leave Warning Tune out of your top 3 is beyond me WAOS
WTs last start York Cup performance would have to be far superior to that put in by Marooned Prince in the Carnarvon Cup and start before at Belmont equally impressive Got to be MAD to leave out of your calculations  |
Ya need that mileage!!!
We all know you have to put in the mileage to win one of these big cups – KONTIKI SIR – need I say more
Six top trial runs from last eight starts!! That’s what I call mileage! Why wait for race days when you can trial as well. And past two runs in the city had to be seen to be believed. Definitely the one to beat in a very classy field!! |

Have on good authority that Imaginaire accompanied by stable mate Destiny's Day landed in Melbourne earlier this week. |
grey matter wrap-up
Quote:
Yesterday at York near but not near enough with Blind Decision (3rd), Green Trader (2nd), Strong Force (5th), Mavericks Pago (3rd) and Our Nicola (4th) |
Quote:
So what race/s are planned for Destiny's Day or just gone as travelling companion? |
Quote:
Main mission Vic Derby currently 40/1 EW WA fixed odds. Chances of both (like a lot of early 3YO staying races) will depend on the depth of staying talent they encounter. Imaginaire is bred to stay (as already mentioned on this thread a number of times). Destiny's Day has run on well both starts and his last start win was full of merit, did not have the best of luck in running. His dad Montjeu won a lot group races between 1600m to 2400m including the French and Irish Derbies. So DD is also bred to stay. |
Free At Last
Read a report that the future racing plan for Free At Last may change following her unplaced run in the Cranbourne Cup. Instead of staying in Melbourne in the hope she can qualify for the Melbourne Cup may now be heading back west to continue her current campaign on home soil
