crap, thats a lot of data! :)

Bhagwan 4th February 2008 12:22 AM

Pengo, the reason why there is a lot of data is because there are a lot of races ,anyway, didn't you just ask for this data?
So why do you sound upset ?

Cheers.

I there isn't any pattern? Well I can only try. Would be handy though, for placing automated bets.

Thanks
Good luck

Hi Iomaca,
One way of using the Tab data is to use Qld UniTAB, target the TAB 1st & 2nd fav at 1 min till jump.

Bet them on Betfair if it is paying at least 1.5 pts more than the UniTAB.
Example
I bet Flying Along which was $3.60 on UniTAB it was carring 59Kg after just one race start, which it previously won , there were 3 other horses with the same wt & more. Its form to wt did not look good compared to the other more experienced runners in the field.
It Won paying $8.60 on Betfair.

It is considered amoung Bookies that QLD punters tend to be a little more astute than the other states when it comes to the punt.
One will see many winners that pay less on Unitab compared to the other states TABs among the top 2-3 favs.

If both the 1st & 2nd TAB Favs are paying 1.50pts more on Betfair, bet both of them.

Cheers.

Bhagwan, I am not sure if we Qld punters are more astute or more stupid.
As I understand it the Qld TAB does not pay a set % of the pool for a race as divvies, it pays what it reckons is a fair divvie.
How it arrives at that figure is anyone's guess, but the TAB is reported as saying they have to be competitive with other betting outlets.
(Info from Mon Courier, The Ear section)
It came as a complete surprise to me, so there really is a million ways to do your dough apparently.

JoeF (or anyone else)

I'd love to see a link to that intriguing story.

I believe the reason UNiTAB dividends (on winners) are far too often lower than elsewhere is because they offer big kick backs to certain players. Very hush hush of course.

So the smart money finds its way into UNiTAB.

JoeF 5th February 2008 05:33 PM

JFC, I don't know about any link but I have the paper in front of me (Mon Courier 04/02/08).I shall type in what it reads. (Bear with my limited computer skills)

Quote
"In recent weeks we have had an unusually high number of punters asking us how to explain the percentage deduction system for UNITAB.
We did try to get a definitive answer but the best we can do is there are no longer set deductions from any TAB pool.
UNITAB is not the only one which operates on a system where it must return a minimum 75% (a 25% deduction) on any given bet but over a year must return 84 % (16% deduction) of all money invested.
The safeguard is the TAB must remain competitive with the other TAB's in declaring their dividends.
They also point out they have to pay tax and expenses out of the 16% they take each year.
But how each bet's calculated- who knows!

You could ring UNITAB, but I think Mark Oberhardt would have got to the bottom of this, if there as one.

PS That took me an age to type.
