Will be a 'slow' track tomorrow at the Valley. Probably on the better side of slow.

crash 28th July 2006 08:45 AM

Sorry, but I bumped this off the page with my last post:

Sportz,

A bit puzzled about the choice of feature race[?] No depth whatsoever here in R8 [Paris zero [odds-on] if 'slow' and Steptoe if it isn't or Coffeeshopblues for a bit of odds].

The Moonee Valley Hurdle is clearly the 'feature race' of the day. Why are we avoiding hurdle races?

Yeah, I thought there might be a complaint or two. :o

It was tough this week, crash! The Hiskens Steeplechase is definitely the biggest race, but I know that many people simply don't like betting or tipping in jumping races. And as for the flat races, there was the listed Dermody Stks in Adelaide, but it looked a bit lacking in depth, and in any case, I really wanted to stick to just Melbourne and Sydney only for the race of the week. Sydney is a very heavy track at the moment, so I went looking for a flat race in Melbourne, and I thought the overall class of the field in Race 8 was the best.

As a general rule, I look at the races that TAB Sportsbet is operating on, because they ONLY operate on feature races or the best quality non-feature races. This Saturday, they're betting on just 2 races, the Dermody Stks and the Austereo Hcp. So there you go.

Ahhh no, just the gallops.

Sportz 29th July 2006 12:07 AM

I notice a few of you aren't including reserve selections. Very risky if you can't come back on tomorrow.

I'd really prefer that you post at least 2 reserve selections please.

Geez, what happened? I was going to pick Stormpede, but when I looked at the odds a couple of minutes out, it was only paying $1.40!!! So I left it out, and it ended up paying $2.10.

rabbitz 29th July 2006 12:12 PM

Of course, the one I replaced him with My Son Day didn't even manage a place.

Horse Whisperer 29th July 2006 01:21 PM

gee that sucks, two odds on favourites, two seconds, not a good start.

Sportz 29th July 2006 04:00 PM

Well, there you go. Raw is the specialist at getting the race of the week. Well done mate!

Raw Instinct 29th July 2006 04:00 PM

Unbelievable managed to pinch it in the last nice shoice of races there Sportz for the 2nd week in a row :)

Sportz 29th July 2006 04:03 PM

Raw,

I think we've found the secret to success! I'll work out the best race to bet on and then you pick the winner. And you don't bet on any other race all day. :D

Raw Instinct 29th July 2006 04:05 PM

LOL that sounds great mate would help my profit margins a bit that is for sure.

sports mate this is brilliant. despite my loss im luvin this comp

Sportz 29th July 2006 05:53 PM

Thanks. Above all, it's a bit of fun. And it can actually be quite exciting if you follow the tips throughout the day. Raw Instinct got up to beat Stix in the last race, and Panther got up to beat Leroy by just 2 points with the last race as well. Leroy's a bit unlucky. He's scored 145 points, but hasn't registered a win yet. I'm sure he'll get one soon though, and when he does his high points total may help him get into the top 8. Umrum found a $15.70 winner today to claim a bonus point, and Chuck got a bonus point as well. Well done guys.

Sportz 29th July 2006 06:00 PM

Looking ahead to next week:

ROUND 3
Saturday August 5
Sportz v Chuck
Leroy v maverick1993
crash v Stix
Svenvlad v Real Deal
rabbitz v breadman
ijuanaQLD v umrum
Raw Instinct v Jim Curran
