Are you kidding?

He may not win the Cup, but it won't be because he's not a very good horse!!!

I can just see that Yates horse just plotting along and then will get run down.. Delta blues should not of changed jockey... so thats a cross.

Chuck 5th November 2006 08:13 AM

I have it down to 10 (yes, a lot i know, but the list will be narrowed) :

Activation
Pop Rock
Dizelle
Efficient
Short Pause ($76 the place is very good IMHO)
Kerry O'Reilly
Maybe Better
Tawqeet
Delta Blues
Yeats

Chuck Bar Lena 5th November 2006 08:39 AM

Great minds think alike. I have the same 4. Just not sure which order yet.

TAWQEET
MAYBE BETTER
MANDELA
EFFICIENT
Delta Blues
Geordieland
Dizelle
Kerry O'Reilly

Horse Whisperer 5th November 2006 10:23 AM

the way the track played yesterday mandella is an e/w special at 25-1

Northern 5th November 2006 10:43 AM

I have to admit i have changed my mind to many times for the MC ive already backed Dizelle at healthy odds but gees i was impressed with Maybe Better yesterday and the 12-1 looks nice odds?

Changed my mind, dropping Efficient (4th run in 3 weeks.. not overly excited by race times, 3 year old, history against), and including Kerry O'Rielly and Activation. Already put $$ on Mandela at $30, Kerry O'Rielly at $50, and on Maybe Better at $80's already, plus a top up last night. Tawqeet is the obvious inclusion, and I can't help but think Activation will be thereabouts.

Quite happily prepared to go around internationals for various reasons and horses without any leadup form, regardless if they have been set for this or not.

TAWQEET
MAYBE BETTER
MANDELA
KERRY O'RIELLY
ACTIVATION

Will stick with these 5 now, and work exotics around them.

Storm_Scene 5th November 2006 11:44 AM

my selections are Tawqeet, Dizelle (i think it needs further, its run in the metrop and the CC were both very good) and Maybe Better (i think this horse will have no trouble backing up) and for the roughie Art Success.

Chuck 5th November 2006 01:23 PM

what does everyone think about this trifecta?

1st: Delta Blues, Short Pause, Activation, Pop Rock, Dizelle, Kerry O'Reilly
2nd: Yeats, Delta Blues, Tawqeet, Short Pause, Activation, Pop Rock, Dizelle, Kerry O'Reilly
3rd: Yeats, Delta Blues, Tawqeet, Short Pause, Activation, Pop Rock, Dizelle, Kerry O'Reilly

$100 for 25%

Northern 5th November 2006 01:33 PM

Yeah Chuck dont mind it if it gets up it will pay huge!! I Think maybe putting Tawqeet in there for 1st and id say Maybe better has to be included id be very surprised if it doesnt run a huge race??

goldmember 5th November 2006 01:36 PM

The more i look at it the harder it gets, but i heard that the Derby was 2.1/2 sec's slower than the SAAB, so i'll leave Efficient out.

for the win:

TAWQEET
POP ROCK
MAYBE BETTER , not sure about YEATS but i'll put him in.

for the place:

ZIPPING
ACIVATION
DIZELLE
cant believe people are tipping ARTS SUCCESS as a roughie, at Moonee Valley, DOLPIN JOE was swamping it the last 100m and IT doesn't rate.

wesmip1 5th November 2006 01:41 PM

I reckon I'll go with (In order of Preference):

1.YEATS
2. POP ROCK
3. DIZZELLE
4. ACTIVATION
5. TAWQUEET
6. MAYBE BETTER

Might throw them on for a trifecta or first 4. Should be a good race.

Good Luck.

goldmember 5th November 2006 01:43 PM

Good luck chuck, its a chance , but i would swap Short Pause for something decent as i dont think the track will be wet enough for it .

goldmember i really don't think short pause is a 300 dollar chance, even this prep it has thrown in a random good run - e.g. the Listed Japan Trophy at Flemington in september, it ran 3rd not beaten too far behind Maybe Better, and meets it better in the weights this time around. after that it was beaten 1.5 lengths in a randwick group 3 , half a length behind Activation. seems to like the bigger tracks, flemington should suit - as you said, the wet is a bonus and i think its a good place chance. i don't really think it will win, but if i leave it out of my trifecta i will be spewing!

goldmember 5th November 2006 02:56 PM

sorry, i meant to swap it around from the win to the placings and put in either Tawqeet or Yeats, BUT, 1 remember VAN DER HUM , he had no chance in the cup but they had a down pour 30 min before and he was a $1.50 chance.maybe do a raindance!

Northern 5th November 2006 03:09 PM

Hi All,

Can anyone give me a basic rundown on ratings and handicaps and weights given to racehorses for all races how does this work?

Yes but the time is 2 second slower than SAAB.Also Yeats winning time in Londaon is way too slow.

Have similar problem Matilda! Every time I review in an effort to decrease the number in my 'final' batch I end up adding another one or two! Not game to review anymore

ON A JEUNE
Taken along quietly with this race in mind

rabbitz 6th November 2006 12:19 PM

Hello

How much would the following combination first four cost?

The numbers are not the horses i like...thats a big secret

1ST-1,2,3,4,5
2ND-1,2,3,4,5
3RD-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8
4TH-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

is it 5x4x6x5=600 units

cheers

Oaksnaf 6th November 2006 12:26 PM

That is right, $600.

Matilda 6th November 2006 01:18 PM

Which is better? Go for a trifecta or First 4? I am still scratching my head.

How much should I put on tri or first 4?. Have some many combo in my mind.

a) Box 8. 338 units = 168 for 1/2 unit.

b) Have confident of 1 placing selection and box that (stand out) with 10 horses. 90units X 3. = 135 for 1/2 unit.

c) Select 3 confident selection and box with 8 horses. 3/8/8, 8/3/8 and 8/8/3.
126 X 3 = 378. = 189 for half units.

d) 5/10/10. 360 units. =180 for half unit.

e) As what rabbitz has. 300 for half a units.

have manage to cut down to 10 selection af of now. keep going...Pls advise.
