Thanks Sandgroper, you haven’t seen the best of me yet
|
Ascot today
R4 EASTERN STANDARD, MERCEDARIO, ROYAL SONATA R5 LOCAL PRODUCT, DURBRIDGE TOY, JEUNES FANTASY R6 REBOTTO, VINDALOO, CONSTANINOPLE R7 EDUCATED MONEY, DECISION TO GO, DONS RECORD R8 MAJOR DEAL, POINT OF NO RETURN, CHIEFTILLA |
mhmc,
excellent tipping there. Of the others, thought Eastern Standard had every chance when led easily, and Constantinople was well ridden. |
Yes, nice going MyHatMyCoat, 4 winners & a nice profit overall.
|
Thanks anchor & BettyBoop, makes up a little for my poor recent efforts.
|
N D Parnham’s starters for Wednesday (Mt. Barker)
Just the 2, both up in distance: R2 no 7 Regal Whisper R7 no 1 Jumallique |
Just added to suspened jockyey list - Jason Miller who has received a two-week suspension and Bunbury apprentice Matthew Giadresco who has been banned for 24 days - both for careless riding.
And I note John Egan still to ride his first winner. Suggest still finding his way - aussie style of racing / getting to know the tracks. |
Here’s my effort topsy99

I'm expecting a big run from Satin Special in the last race at Mt. Barker tomorrow. Won the same race last year, has the same weight, and will be ridden by Alana Sansom.
Admittedly a better field this year, but she did win very easily last year. Promising stayer Kyoshi, although not well weighted (imo), will still be hard to beat. Sulo Warrior another with a strong chance. Just pipped in last years Mt. Barker Cup over 2000m. Later placed in the Albany Cup (behind Kyoshi & Satin Special) & then next start won at Ascot. Also include (first4) Shy Wild, who stepped up in distance (1800m) last start at Albany, following excellent Ascot form. Made his run way too late on that day (imo) and was only beaten 1.25len. |
Looks an open race El Gordo. Would also consider Special Jester and for that matter Warning Tune.
SJ is back in winning form and WT is a multiple city winner over distance. The Mungrup Sprint is another interesting race, with both Jumallique and Face Your Fears lining up for their 3rd start in the sprint - Jumallique winning in 2002 and Senate Lease lining up for his 2nd tilt. Not to mention some other promising types in this race, including Bletch Magic & Jarnot. Looking foward to both races. _________________ All the best from the West Sandgroper  [ This Message was edited by: Sandgroper on 2004-02-03 15:38 ] |
What about the topweight - NOTHING BUT GOLD fellows – I think an EW chance.
In the sprint the MERCURY HALO of old would brain them. |
NOTHING BUT GOLD will have it's admirers BettyBoop - ex eastern states performer. Not sure why it is top weight, 2nd in prize money to Special Jester, has won a few in country WA since it's arrival, but stepping up in distance for the first time.
Agree your comments re MERCURY HALO, has been a bit dissapointing since his first couple of starts this campaign. |
I like Stockie's Yarn & Jarnot in the sprint. Senate Lease & Mercury Halo also amongst the chances, which are many.
|
PLEA BARGAIN in the sprint and HEAPS OF CLASS in the distance event
|
STOCKIE'S YARN & SHIRVIC scratched from the sprint, NIGHT WATCHMAN scratched from the last.
R7 JARNOT, PLEA BARGAIN, MERCURY HALO R8 SHY WILD, KYOSHI, HEAPS OF CLASS |
Just to confuse the issue even more fellows, I'm going to include (9) Chucka Khan & (12) Little Miss Madam - race 7 & (5) Mirror Moon - race 8, in my multiples.
Good luck to all having a bet at Mt. Barker. |
CHUCKA KHAN won the sprint (thanks BB)
Late scratching Jarnot! WARNING TUNE won the last (thanks Sandgroper) from SATIN SPECIAL (thanks El Gordo) with NOTHING BUT GOLD 3rd (thanks BB) I finished in front fellows, hope you did as well  |
Yes, easy win to Chucka Khan in the sprint BettyBoop. Task made easier with the late withdrawal of Jarnot, who was my top rated. He'll keep till another day
Warning Tune just pipped Satin Special in the last. Almost the double to Alana. Your prediction almost came off El Gordo - bad luck. Warning Tune is a bit of a in-and-out customer, but on his day, not a bad neddy. _________________ All the best from the West Sandgroper  [ This Message was edited by: Sandgroper on 2004-02-05 18:44 ] |
N D Parnham’s starters for the weekend
Up in distance: Ascot 1 no 11 Precious Lady Ascot 4 no 16 Yukon Run Ascot 6 no 2 Bit Of A Ride Ascot 6 no 15 Trimagic Pinjarra 1 no 6 Regal Whisper Pinjarra 1 no 8 Sheer Power Pinjarra 2 no 13 Richman's World Pinjarra 5 no 1 Trimagic Down in distance: Ascot 1 no 16 Seemingly Rich Ascot 2 no 1 Secret Remedy Ascot 2 no 4 Civil List Ascot 2 no 7 Educated Money Ascot 7 no 8 Fitzroy Flyer Pinjarra 4 no 1 This 'n' That Pinjarra 7 no 8 Typhoon Fille Same: Ascot 4 no 8 Eutri Ascot 5 no 2 Space Age Ascot 7 no 10 Crystal Clear Pinjarra 4 no 14 The Truth Hurts Pinjarra 7 no 6 Lombo Choice Pinjarra 8 no 7 Sweet Dreams And perhaps a little EW Ascot 3 no 14 Mighty Smart. Raced more truely with the addition of blinkers last start. Ran on well after an early check  |
Noticed Metal Reign makes a return to WA racing at Ascot today Race 1 with a nice odds quote in the morning line 10/1. Based on past times and first up record, it's a good bet.
Time will tell... |
ALBANY CUP TODAY.
SATIN SPECIAL, JEUNES FANTASY, KYOSHI, SPECIAL JESTER |
Looking at the metro jockey stats, with Paul Harvey's 4 rides yesterday it now makes it 30 consecutive losing rides. Still the leader by 7 from JWhiting.
|
Yes anchor, Harvey's last city winner was on Relocate way back on new year's day. Looking at all rides, his last win was back on the 8th Feb at Pinjarra - 17 consecutive losing rides since that date  and John Egan still winless after 23 rides in WA

JEUNES FANTASY failed to finish, very poor run by SATIN SPECIAL :???: , KYOSHI & SPECIAL JESTER filled the placings behind the winner OUR PAL BLUEY.
|
The pontiff finally back in the (city) winners list, but now suspended until midnight Saturday 6th March

SPECIAL JESTER looks poor value in today's Esperance Cup if he starts anywhere near the odds quoted in this morning's press.
I like WARNING TUNE from OHIO, RAPID RANCHER & BAY REWARD. |
Main 2 races at Pinjarra today -
Race 6 (Matchmaker) - MARKET WRAP, BONNIE BRAE, SEEKING QUALITY & (VALUE) MAGISSA Race 7 (Sprint) - HOT SHOT BROTHER, KAMES HOPE, POLYGRAM & KAPRATS |
R2 at Pinjarra, Stage Doll will be at short odds but Vern and Alana have a good combo going...Good luck!
|
Surprised you have not included Poziere (R6) and Mr Callahan (R7) in your selections, MyHatMyCoat.
I'd also be including Proven Destiny (R6) in the multiples - although better suited over a bit more ground, may be fresh enough to run a good race - listed at 30/1 this morning. Lombo Choice (R8) looks nicely placed EW, and Overmaster (R9) could surprise EW at good odds (listed at 50/1) with young Pike on top. In the Esperance Cup, I would include Mr Debernals. This horse was not beaten far in last year's cup, finishing 3rd just behind a couple of handy horses in Miller's Fancy and Kyoshi. _________________ All the best from the West Sandgroper  [ This Message was edited by: Sandgroper on 2004-02-29 13:30 ] |

Great picks MyHatMyCoat...put me ahead for the day...
|
Echo Desi's comment MyHatMyCoat, you got both winners in your top 2 picks, paying $6 & $20.10 Thanks. Thought Blondelle a very easy winner in the last, should be more wins coming.
|
Thanks Desi & BettyBoop - Nice overs for METAL AS ANYTHING on the NSW TAB, certainly pays to shop around.
