Confectioner

Looks like an excellent race with many chances I can only narrow it down to these:

BALMUSE
ELVSTOEM
MUMMIFY
CONFECTIONER
(with some hope to DELZAO, HUGS DANCER & DESERT WAR)

Roughies: UPSETTHYM (70/1), DISTINCTLY SECRET (100/1) (fixed S-Tab)
Neither likely, but on best form both could be a big surprise like Econsul last week

Why is BALMUSE such a good price?
I reckon it should be about 6 or 7-1

Might be because he has never raced over 2040m before? or not raced in Aussie and the bookies are unable to get a handle on him? Just my thoughts, no doubt someone will no know for sure.

Might because of barrier 2 and he is a back marker. Might get stuck with big field.

Cant believe all the people tipping Elvstroem, sat 3rd on the fence last start over 2000m,waited for a split and it was a sprint home, with the back markers no chance of winning, won the weakest derby in history and the horses finishing behind him battling to win in timbucktoo, dont think he is a stayer and if i was a bookie i would be laying him till the cows came home!

Maybe you should contact the punter who has invested $400,000 on Elvstroem to win $1.2 million with Sportingbet

Goldenmember has a point..technically Elvis on breeding should struggle to get 2400m
Danehill has never sired a CC or MC winner.

I'd love to see Elvis win it but i wouldnt be taking anything short about him.

Great to see history made and how short is Makybe Diva going to be in the cup ??

Jack Daniels 16th October 2004 03:41 PM

I am a happy chappy
I took the following:

1st. Elvstroem, Confectioner
2nd. Elvstroem, Confectioner, Makybe Diva, Mummify
3rd. Confectioner, Makybe Diva, Mummify, Grey Song, Balmuse

Woo Hoo.

Not a bad payout either. $895.00

moeee 16th October 2004 08:30 PM

Hey Goldmember.
Mug Punta tells me it takes about 11 days or so to get the egg off your face.

mug punta 16th October 2004 09:14 PM

Be nice MO. I did nearly back Elvestrom simply due to the Port Power factor, but, I didnt bother in the end.
Cant wait for Shes Archie this week at the valley. Anything around evens will do nicely.
Ive hardly actually had a bet this carnival. Got alinghis tri in the thousand guineas 5 times but im gunna have a big crack at the archer.

Mr ed 16th October 2004 09:28 PM

Good strong win by Elvis, good chance in the Cox, no chance in the Melbourne. I have Vinnie Roe going for nearly 10,000 but have almost conceded defeat, what a run by Makybe Diva she is awesome and i dont think Vinnie can beat her, i hope i'm wrong.

jimmyc_dogs 17th October 2004 06:02 AM

i done my usual cautious betting,

elvstroem,
$20 win
$50 place,

ahh well still a $180 collect, cant complain

jimmy

Raw Instinct 17th October 2004 07:37 AM

Mr Ed I wouldn't be to worried I think that Vinnie will extremely hard to beat especially if the tracks stay the way they are right now.

Matilda 18th October 2004 03:42 PM

I think Vinnie has a great chance of winning. I think that Archie and Diva has come to an end of their campaign although Diva did run a great run in C.Cup. He normally can't perform good twice. He might get 4th again. 4th place specialist.
