yep a terrific run by a great horse BUT a shocker by the jock, i would say more like half a ride than a ride and a half, if the horse went down by a head we all know who would be copping the blame and with justification i would say

Apparently not the mystery punter from Perth, Shaun – so they say

Bad ride ???
He won, and was not punished to the line to do so either.
How many lesser jocks would have panicked, or would have taken him to the lead too soon or had him wide early or gone back to the inside where the going was clearly worse?
Bad ride?, those on Makybe Diva did their money cold.

Well, what can I say but brilliant! He's answered my previous question. That was definitely if not more an octagonal win if ever i've seen one. That was just pure bulldog! I doubt I've seen a horse produce such an amazing recovery in a race such as this. I didn't think it was a bad ride. The horse on his outside up the straight there looked to run in a bit and completely chop out the passage he had. To switch round and rebalance him like that and rely on the horses spirit was both magical and genius to watch. Well done Lohnro the big L. What I can't believe is that it was his Melbourne swansong. He's only just peaking don't you reckon?

Cheers Megamoos

I totally agree. Although Beadman probably shouldn't have been where he was, he had no real control of the pace or their positioning due to the speed set early by Physique.

When he was in trouble it seemed to me that Beadman let the horse find his own way out of trouble then he let him go, pushing him without thrashing him home.

Beadman also conceded upon dismounting that it wasn't his best ride but he got the big fella home and also rode a treble on the day.

I think it was one of the best rides (or runs) that I have ever seen and confirmed to this Melbournian what a lot of interstaters have said all along, that the horse is an out-right champion (although I always did like him anyway)

He's the best horse in Australia at the moment. Clearly. But does that make him a champion. 'Twas a great win all the same.
cheers

Forget all this 'champion' stuff - it's all too subjective...

What we saw yesterday was legendary... It will become part of racing folklore. We will all remember (for those it saw it live) where we were and what we were doing when Lonhro came back from adversity to win the Australian Cup.

Lonhro the Legend. Now that has a nice sound too it!
