Hi Sportz,

There wil be a Crusaders backlash after the Brumbies game. They will thrash the Cheifs who are struggling with a string of injuries and a couple of players never arrived for the season's start.

I stand to decimate my TAB account if I"m wrong

Thanks sportz and moeee, its good to be back, had a rough end to last year [ a few very bad storms, a couple of 48hr blackouts, phones down for 4 days 2 deaths and to top it off we were robbed 2 weeks before xmas] so i threw my hands up in the air and had long a break until now and i'm ready for a big season of footy !

This time :

goldmember 3rd March 2005 04:47 PM

Yeah, i sure hope so,i dont normally bet on pre season games or the 1st couple of rounds, but this year i'm going to get stuck into them from round 1 as i'm even MORE confident this year , couldnt back the swans or lions in the wizard cup after looking at the sides they put in, reallistically the should have been at least 10/1 each, i feel for anyone who put their hard yearned on them?

I'm not skipping the more marginal bets since my system still does quite well on them. I intend to bet ALL of my S12/AFL/NRL picks here. That's going to be around 350 or so bets, so the idea is to bet as singles and hopefully build up a balance, so that I can then bet as multis without so much risk.

I notice sportz above me has included the win amount as the total returned. I only included the profit amount. Probally better to include total returned since we're deducting bet amounts from balance, so I changed mine.

Sportz 4th March 2005 02:23 PM

Mr J,

I assumed you'd want to bet on all of the S12 games, but I didn't think you'd want to do the same with NRL & AFL too. By the way, I think if you wanted to bet on every S12, NRL & AFL game, it would actually be closer to 450 bets. I know your method works for you, but the reason why I put a limit of 200 bets on the comp is to make tipsters be a little bit selective, and so that people who don't want to bet on all 3 codes aren't disadvantaged.

Mr J 4th March 2005 02:56 PM

"it would actually be closer to 450 bets."

I don't bet EVERY game ;) The bookies are usually more accurate later on in the season. I was only betting on around 75-80% of games near the end of AFL/NRL last year.

I'd like to be selective, but betting all my picks is the most reliable way to get ahead. If it means I have to bet multis for a large chunk of AFL/NRL then that's what I'll have to do.

I can't be selective because I can't be sure which are my best bets. My tests have shown that the picks perform similiar no matter how large their perceived advantage is. Large overlays don't really perform better because they are way off often enough to offset the accuracy of the other large overlays.

Going by the incredible score at the moment in the opening Super12 game of the week, I may end up having an ABSOLUTE SHOCKER!!! Can't believe it. I thought if there was one absolute certainty this week it was the Blues at home to the Reds. :(

Looks like you may have come up trumps there Mr J. I think you're the only one that considered backing the Reds.

Sportz 4th March 2005 06:32 PM

Well, they eventually got out of jail, but a winning margin of three points was about TWENTY short of what I was expecting!!!

So one of my bets is down the gurgler. Well done on getting your line bet up Mr J.

Well done Jack on your multi. Looks like you might be on the right track there with your strategy of going for big returns. You've only won 2 out of 7 bets, but you're up over $200.

Personally, I had another shocker. Need to take a good look at what I'm doing.

Proof is in the pudding so they say. Warratahs 36 Vs Sharks 13

I thought the Tahs would win by at least that many but wasn't overly confident of them winning by more than 10, seems they did it easier than I had thought.

Go the Tahs!!! :D
