sorry to gripe, but i say we should still have Group A and B horses, and that these changes should come into effect at the end of this week i.e. Sunday

************! And I've got a stable runner (IRISH DARLING) starting at Sandown tomorrow!!

Sportz 12th April 2005 12:18 PM

I'm very sorry for all the stuffing around Chuck. It's just that it will be easier if we do it this way. I really should have simply organised it like this in the first place.

As I said, there's probably no more than just a few horses racing this week anyway and as we've only had one raceday, I don't see any real harm in bringing in these rules now.

Again I apologise to all for the sloppy organisation, but I think it will be better if we do it this way from now on. :o

Chuck 12th April 2005 12:27 PM

what about he Group A and B rules...are they going to stay because i thought that was a good idea

Mr ed 12th April 2005 12:42 PM

What about if you only get 2 changes a week i.e swapping a horse for another horse = 1, moving a horse from group a to b = 1, this would stop people mixing things around too much. Example, if you wanted to swap Gold Wells from group b for Mccarthy's bar that's one, then if you wanted to swap Mccarthys bar into group a and downgrade Gallic to group B thats your second. Once any changes are made the contestant must then post their full Stable list including specifying the changes they made and grouping their stable. Just throwing around ideas, but i think this Sunday we should all be able to chose a complete new stable, as for the new any meeting rule.

Sportz 12th April 2005 01:01 PM

:( Fair dinkum, I'm getting a headache with all these suggestions. I thought I had it all sorted.

I must admit that's a good idea of yours Mr Ed regarding the number of changes and Group A/B. I should have thought of all these damn things before I started this comp. It seemed like a good idea at the time. :o

Sportz 12th April 2005 02:11 PM

ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY THE FINAL RULE CHANGES I'M MAKING TO THIS COMP!!! I hope. :(

Okay, this is it! No more changes. This is what I'm going to do.

READ CAREFULLY
We will keep all of our original stables and follow the original rules as they are until after this Saturday's meetings are finished. That means that if any of our horses are running at any other meetings this week apart from the Metro meetings on Saturday, they won't be counted. I'm very sorry about that, but that's only fair to the people who distinctly followed the original rules and picked out horses for Sat metro meetings only.

Then, after Saturday's meetings are finished, everyone is entitled to choose a completely new stable with up to 12 new horses if you wish. You have up until Midnight Friday Apr 22 to post your new stable or Midnight on the day before your next horse races. If for example you wish to include a horse which is running this Sunday, then you have to post your new stable by Midnight this Saturday. If you wish to include a horse running next Wednesday, you have to post your new stable by Midnight next Tuesday etc etc. With these new stables, we will be following these rules:

RULES

Everyone to pick 12 horses in their stable, 6 'Group A' horses and 6 'Group B' horses.

During the period of the comp, you'll be having hypothetical bets on all of your stable horses whenever they start at an Australian meeting covered by Unitab. You'll bet $20 Win on all Group A horses and you'll have $10 Win on all Group B horses.

Each Friday, you'll be able to make up to 2 changes to your stable. If you have a stable runner racing on Friday, you must wait until after they've run. Otherwise you can make your changes any time on Friday up until the cutoff time of midnight. If you sack one of your stable runners and replace it with a new selection, that is counted as one change and if you swap a Group A horse and a Group B horse around, that is also counted as one change. You must have 6 Group A horses and 6 Group B horses in your stable each week. Make sure you outline your changes when you post your new stable each Friday.

It is up to you to post all your stable runners on here when they are down to race. Again, as I suggested, probably a good idea to use a blackbook service as we'll be counting races from non metro tracks and on all days of the week.

Well, there you go. I apologise sincerely to everyone for all the terrible stuffing around and rule changes. Sorry also to Paddy and Mr Ed and a couple of others who will miss out on runners over the next couple of days, but I thought it was only fair to stick to the original rules until everybody gets a chance to change their stables.

Hmmm, I definitely should have thought this through a lot more before I started this comp. :o

So EW is back in for this Saturday?

Sportz 12th April 2005 02:25 PM

No. That's one original rule that I've ditched altogether. Just $20 Win or $10 Win.

No problemo. At least you’re consistent.

Sportz 12th April 2005 02:41 PM

Yeah! Consistently inconsistent!!! :o

Mr ed 12th April 2005 02:57 PM

Looks the goods Sportz, and they said we'd never make it.

Yeah, I hope it all works out. :)

I'm sure it will Sportz :)

Raw Instinct 12th April 2005 06:31 PM

ok thought it was my turn to put my 2 cents in :) was starting to feel a bit left out here the only thing I would say is that maybe 1 change would be better than 2 the way I see it that still leaves at a tough challenge makes your initial picks important but gives you the oportunity to replace a horse that is injured.

Chuck 12th April 2005 07:00 PM

Should we pre-count all the edits Raw Instinct is going to do as actual changes? That might give him an incentive to make is 1st choic his final one ;)

Raw Instinct 12th April 2005 07:18 PM

lol yea nice work there Chuck and I deserved that one I guess I meant that once the comp has actually started I guess to be honest I had that many horses that I meant to put in there but was running out of time to do it so in the end I just put a make shift stable together without to much thought into it.

Chuck 12th April 2005 07:28 PM

BTW i notice your namesake is running in the first at EF this Saturday...perhaps a guest appearance in your stable?

Raw Instinct 12th April 2005 07:39 PM

lol yea he is down to run in the Weetwood at Toowoomba on Thursday aswell that is where I think they will go with him might be a place chance there hopefully he will just get some luck this prep.

I have a good one for you. His name is "Garth" and I think he may be racing in Brisbane this week. From what I've seen, he's quite promising.

Mr ed 13th April 2005 09:49 AM

Too right Sportz, very promising. I remember when this horse was unraced i got the mail that he was very good, in fact Neprotain had just won five in a row for Moody, and they said this thing was kicking its brains in on the track. Backed off the map before first-up win at the Valley last time, then won well when long odds on with big weight in the country. He is down in the weights this weekend and looks a real chance in whichever race he accepts in. I here he is being set for the Stradbroke, if he can qualify.

Only failure heavy track! Might be a worry heading for a "winter" carnival!

but Paddy from memory that 1st-up failure was against a pretty good field

Sportz 13th April 2005 10:27 AM

Okay, well these horses won't officially be earning money for people's stables (sorry guys) but they all have an excellent chance, so let's see how they go:

Today:
Sandown R2-7 Irish Darling
Sandown R6-2 Kylikwong
Tomorrow:
Cranbourne R8-2 Sonic Royal

By the way, there's a horse running at Bunbury today that I've had a bit of success with in the last couple of months.... R7-2 Joachimstaler. Anybody have any opinions on it's race today?

Mr ed 13th April 2005 05:34 PM

Add on 2 more winners today @ 2.70 and 1.80, and we're on fire!, well done.

Oratorio won that race Garth was in @ the Valley, was Manikato day on the heavy a very rare occurance for Mooney Valley. You might be right though Paddy he has a perculiar action, very long strides so might not like the real bog.

Isn't Power Hunt running tommorow Spotz? He is alo entered for Saturday so maybe not. He is a immature but a very good horse, needs luck though so is always a point or two short of his real odds.

Sportz 13th April 2005 06:07 PM

Spotz here. :D

Yeah, Power Hunt's down for the Weetwood tomorrow. He's a BIG horse and from what I've seen, he seems to take a while to get going in his races. He usually has to come from the back of the field, but he can really fly home at the end, and there'll probably be speed on. Looks like a wide open race that anything could win.

Raw Instinct 13th April 2005 09:49 PM

Tremendous Value there in the Weetwood sports that is for sure there always seems to be good value there I remember the race a couple of years ago I think the favourite was 8-1

No fancy odds but did win :)

Certainly did Paddy.

Very wet track @ Cranbourne today for Sonic Royal. He has a second in a maiden and a trial win in the heavy so i haven't changed my mind, should get better odds though.

For those that maybe haven't read the previous pages, I've made some rule changes to account for different situations which have come up with this comp and requests from different competitors. That includes most importantly counting horses which run at meetings away from the Saturday metropolitan tracks.

Please read this carefully:

We will keep all of our original stables as they are until after this Saturday's meetings are finished.

During the period of the comp, you'll be having hypothetical bets on all of your stable horses whenever they start at any Australian meeting covered by Unitab.

If you sack one of your stable runners and replace it with a completely new selection, that is counted as one change and if you swap a Group A horse and a Group B horse around, that is also counted as one change. You must have 6 Group A horses and 6 Group B horses in your stable each week. Make sure you outline your changes when you post your new stable each Friday. If you don't post a new stable by next Friday, then we'll simply count your original one.

It is up to you to post all your stable runners on here when they are down to race. Again, as I suggested before, it's probably a good idea to use a blackbook service as we'll be counting races from non metro tracks and on all days of the week. It's important that you post your selections on here, so we don't have to go through all the races to find them for you.

Sorry Chuck, read my previous post again.

You can choose a new stable now if you wish, but as far as bets go for this Saturday, you can only bet on horses from your original stable. After Saturday's meetings, you're entitled to choose another entirely different stable if you wish with up to 12 new horses, so why not wait till then.

By the way, yes, you did set it out correctly, IF we were actually doing it that way this week.

Chuck 15th April 2005 11:22 AM

Okay, then remove the bets on Radetzky March and Sir Dex

Astrodame - $10 each way
Irish Crusader - $10 each way

Group B

Show Biz Kid - $5 each way

Go forth and kick those donkeys!

Sportz 15th April 2005 01:26 PM

Starcraft,

Sorry, but I decided to abandon each-way betting in this comp and make it only win betting, so you'll have to have:

Raid The Royals - $20 Win
Astrodame - $20 Win
Irish Crusader - $20 win
Show Biz Kid - $10 Win

Rudolph 15th April 2005 03:07 PM

Been away for a few days...so i'll have to brush up on the new rules.

Pretty sure i've only got Amtrak(Flem R7-No.2) running tomorrow.
From the A stable so $20 on the nose.
