What a race...damn Diva is good.

Makybe Diva has cost me dearly. I had Grand Armee in the first leg of the quaddie, just for $1, me not being a big time punter and not usually one for the exotics i just chucked it on for interest....and then the next three ran in like they did. Cost me $313. Would of made a very good day a pearler.

Too big, too good, too strong. Should never have backed against her, i agree GA didn't stay he absolutely plodded over the line.

Beg to differ Mr ed. Wasn't a weakness in the GA armour that made the difference. Seems the Diva is still underrated in some quarters. I guess that's just racing !

Mr ed 20th March 2005 12:55 AM

Not at all Paddy, she's awesome, had plenty left, she would have beaten him anyway. But no judge watching the race could say that Grand Armee looked comfortable at the trip. This can be seen by the difference in margins between he and Vouvray from their previous outing in which he was eased down. I am a huge a fan of the Diva, she's an absolute world beater, but just calling GA's race on it's own merits.

Paddy 20th March 2005 01:06 AM

Still one would expect Vouvray to perform better this run, just back from a spell & did run a grand race in last years Caulfield Cup, this distance and on a dead track.

Mr ed 20th March 2005 01:42 AM

Fair enough, but Vouvray was second-up when she ran that great race in the Caulfield Cup, and the trainer has always believed she goes better on the fresh side. GA is not as affective @ 2400m as he is @ 2000m do you agree on this? Again emphasising i'm in awe of Makybe, no other horse in Australia could have got near him from her position.

Raw Instinct 20th March 2005 09:35 AM

Mr Ed I would say Grand Armee is questionable against the top horses over 2000 metres it a truly run race where he doesn't get it all his own way in front. I think he is a really good miler who has gotten a few real good wins over longer journeys because he gets to walk in front and sprint against stayers who usually cannot sprint. IMO GA got it all his way yesterday to the difference was that this time there was a stayer in the race with a better sprint than maybe any stayer we have ever seen her sectionals are truly extrordinary she is the best horse I have seen which may not quite be the ammount of horses alot of you guys have but of the modern era which I have seen I havenot seen better.

Given his 2000M record & with only 2 (I think) 2400M attempts, you'd have to agree Mr ed.....is his Hong Kong trip still on the agenda?
