Certainly looks like it now that I've seen the replay. What a finish. I swear she made them look like they were standing still. Caulfield & Melbourne cups???

She must have been a good 10 lens from the lead at the top of the rise, tried to get to the outside and was shunted back into the ruck by Gee That's Tops. Then bore a path up the middle, still around 4 lens behind then at the 100M yet still ran them down to win by the best part of a len. One of the biggest Group1 wins I have seen for a while!!

Well done Umrum!!! I don't know that your namesake ever finished quite as fast as you have in this comp. :)

Great job picking Carry On Cutie today. You made more money in one day than I made in the whole comp!!! :o

Anyway, this comp's been fun. How about we do it all again in the Spring?

TESTAROSSA 2nd April 2005 10:14 PM

Hey Sportz,

Just a suggestion but why not continue with this and tip in every Group 1 race until we get back to where we started from, therefore having an undisputed Group 1 king/queen punter.

Sportz 4th April 2005 07:38 AM

Hmmm, not sure how Umrum would feel about that after I've just congratulated him on winning??? :o

What about everyone else? Do you want to continue on in a few weeks time from where we left off and carry this comp right through to the end of the year?

Personally, I think I'd probably prefer to call it quits now, proclaim Umrum the winner and start up another Group 1 comp when the Spring Carnival comes around.

kiwi 4th April 2005 09:59 AM

Hi Spotrz, Unrum is a deserved winner of this comp so far.
I agree with Testarrosa to continue, or start another Group thread and widen it to Group 1, 2 and 3 until the Group 1 comp starts again in the spring where the original thread began:)

Seeker11 4th April 2005 11:25 AM

Start afresh but include all Group Races

Congrats Umrum and comiserations Read Deal we got upstaged by a "roughie" in the last furlong!

Sportz 4th April 2005 11:29 AM

Geez, I don't know about that. There's only around 65 Group 1 races a year but there's loads more Group 2 & 3 races!!!

I'd rather just stick to the Group 1s, so I think we might start up a mini Winter version of the Group 1 comp in a few weeks time. Only about 11 or 12 races to consider in SA and Qld, but it still should be a bit of fun. :)

Thanks guys,
i managed to have a few bob on cutie and armee on the weekend so am very happy. Bad luck to real deal, probably the most consistent tipper of the comp. Thanks to sportz for his time and effort. In regards to a new comp I think we should stop right now ;) ha ha Just joking I'm happy either way.

The more the merrier hey Sportz! :)

Sportz 4th April 2005 11:42 AM

Hey Paddy, seeing as how you always post all of the fields, prices and results for all of the Group races, perhaps you could run this comp??? ;)

Humbled by your generous offer Sportz, thankz :) but as you have probably noticed in the past I tend to disappear (go offline) for different periods, so couldn’t be counted on to complete the job ;)

Chuck 5th April 2005 04:32 PM

i would if i knew the fields, races etc. If Paddy/Sportz would tell me where to find this, i'd have a go at doing a comp
