Anyway joy to behold today History being made I'm still on a high and as I said I didn't even back the Diva!!

...and just as I'm writing this post up pops robbos roughies..would you believe first time I've backed them...great work robbo (and the diva!)

Well I certainly know when to pop on the forum to check out robbos roughies (not really but it’s sounds good!) After that 25/1 winner the other day had my 2nd “plunge” on robbo's selections yesterday and boy was my heart in my mouth! I really thought Red Sovereign had got there, what a huge run for a another 25/1 shot. Great work robbo!!

The Age Classic

Do have to agree with sportsmad re Bomber Bill. On his best he could manage a place if a few others ran below par. I’m also going for Cape of Good Hope the weight turnaround should be enough to turn the tables on the mare Glamour Puss which is my 2nd selection. And for 3rd / 4th put in the 3YO colts Stratum and Jet Spur who look to be well in under the race conditions.

Ascot selection

Sat 05 Nov 2005 R1 #1 Star Trek. No pace allows him to get a strong 1800m here and he leads or tracks #9 possibly. All other condenders behind him. As usual, has taken 5 or 6 runs to get to peak and last time ran 108 in finishing off fastest behind It's A Legend. Only concern is Jock a -1.5. Dangers 4, 8 (if it leads) and 5 who has had problems.

Good luck,
Aaron

Winners of 2 other trials same day worth a mention.

Maiden 3YO Buttonhole pelted home from last and looked in great order, won’t stay a maiden for long and she should develop into a handy middle distance commodity.

The lightly raced Spin Silver has returned from a spell in fine fettle. He was very impressive leading all the way in his heat and won with plenty in reserve. Should measure up to city class.

Have backed Buttonhole a few times. Think she has ability. Just needs to mature a bit more.

Not sure I share your confidence westwinners. Just the 1 win in roughly 2 years and not gone the journey although races like the 1800 would suit.

Not a lot of depth in the race and will be suited the small field.

And unlike westwinners wouldn't be concerned about young Brad. The claim is a bonus!

Well I'm starting to think Paul's suffering a bad case of BO! A quick glance show's he has only 5 rides on an 8 race program? Best is probably Manjar in the Fairetha.

You tell him grey sapphire! I was still winning on a horse called Grecian Vale (or something like that) going back a bit. From memory still winning in the city at 11 or 12 years young :)

grey matter

Triconya (1st), Our Grey Halo (2nd), Uncle Brian and Bay Of Smiles (4th), Electic (5th) and Snacking (7th) make up the grey brigade at Ascot tomorrow.

The Fighting Tigress

Contrary to rumours trainer David Mueller has confirmed that a Railway Stakes start for Miss Andretti is not on the cards AT LEAST FOR THIS YEAR.

Although a 5YO The Fighting Tigress is very lightly raced and the trainer doesn’t think she would get to the mile in top class at this stage.

As a matter of interest if you take a close look at Miss Andretti’s bloodlines apart from her grandad Royal Academy she’s actually bred to be more of a stayer than a sprinter!

and I don't disagree with David Mueller one bit for ignoring the Railway Stakes for the tigress. Look how Elli was going this time last year and then how she performed in the Railway.

Yes I remember Shout From Maroof when it raced in Perth. Didn't realise it became the o/s Natural Blitz and did what it did. Thought it just went amiss or something. Amazing!!

THE AGE CLASSIC

(1) CAPE OF GOOD HOPE is the best suited at WFA. Superb effort in the Salinger going to the line very strongly. Fitter for that run just his 2nd after a spell. Has a fantastic record against some of the best sprinters around today.

(7) STRATUM looks the best of the 3YOs. Did all the work in front in the L’Oreal and only beaten 0.3L. Queen Of The Hill who should have won that race now has to concede Stratum a further 3kg in this whilst the winner of the L’Oreal Jet Spur got a nice cushy run in the slipstream.

(6) GLAMOUR PUSS was placed behind straight tracker specialist Falkirk then good win (Salinger) up the straight last start.

(5) TAKEOVER TARGET has been plagued with injuries so wether he can recapture the form that saw him win his first 7 races is problematical. Nothing wrong with first-up effort in Salinger when loomed up to win, but his condition gave out over the last bit.
