A quiet debut for the world’s most expensive player Cristiano Ronaldo. Real Madrid eventually beating the Shamrock Rovers 1-0. Was closely marked and was taken off at half-time having failed to sparkle against some very physical defending by the opposition.

Still plenty of money in that bucket! Real Madrid in the final stages of signing off on a deal worth around €35 million for Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso.

Cristiano Ronaldo produced only glimpses of his talent during his home debut for Real Madrid in a 1-1 draw with Al Ittihad.

Ronaldo, who played his first game for Madrid last week in a 1-0 friendly win in Ireland against Shamrock Rovers, impressed with his first touch after a minute, performing a series of step-overs before passing the ball to a teammate.

Wholesale changes to the starting line-up has worked for Manchester United. Back on track after their midweek defeat to Burnley with a 5-0 win over Wigan. Although beaten by a big margin thought Wigan played pretty well & could be worth following against some lesser likes.
