Watch out for Olitate, either racing tomorrow at Ascot or Thursday at Pinjarra, should turn into a decent horse.

Why has Mandurah greyhounds been abandoned?

watsonnek 15th November 2005 06:36 PM

Thanks for the tip AdrianLee :)

Re Mandurah greyhounds - no idea don't follow the dishlickers much. Can't be the weather, lovely warm day over here.

Hey nice quartet whiterhino :) PARIS RAIDER, PERONISTA, CERTIFIED and WHIPBIRD paid $1,049.20 in WA. Even bigger div if WHIPBIRD jock was successful with either or both protests.

Olitate listed to race tomorrow at Ascot AdrianLee, race 4.
Suppose to be a class 6  - all starters but 1 are maidens (including Olitate) the other is a class 1. Olitate's trainer is ex WA jockette Paula Wagg, you might remember her.

Plastered out for 12 months!!

This mornings West Australian reports that Plastered's managing-owner Janelle Harvey has revealed that Plastered is set for a radical operation to fix a serious respiratory problem.

Action in progress to send Plastered to a Victorian vet for surgery on his degenerating "lazy larynx". Ballarat specialist Ian Fulton will perform the surgery to reconstruct the larynx using nerves from other muscles.

A simpler operation could have been performed in Perth but was likely to have limited the horse's potential at his pet longer distances.

The surgery is likely to keep Plastered out of racing for at least a year.

The worst case scenario is that the 2004 Victoria Derby winner's career is over after nine wins in 15 starts and stake earnings of $1.55 million.

Ian Fulton has a very good reputation if anyone can get Plastered's problem sorted out he will. Plastered's still a youngster let's hope we see the start of his most successful campaign in 12 months time!

I think there’s been just two alternatives since Plastered’s condition got worse – retire or fix the problem. If the operation’s not life threatening then it would make sense to go that way.

Cheda 16th November 2005 11:43 AM

About to say the same thing Cheda ;) Also like to add if he’s had this problem for a while he could come back even better than before  That’s a bit mind boggling!!
