Sportz,

FORGET the experts.

Last year I subscribed to many EXPERTS, I still get their info but don't actually bet their selections, just follow them.

If I had bet all the selections I would be in the poorhouse.

From what I have seen your methods are better than all of them and I am not p++++++
in your pocket.

I am currently doing my own thing for my main bets and playing around with yours, and quite happy as on most days you give a nice little extra earn.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers

Well done Bruce. Yeah, there were some pretty obvious winners at Caulfield today. How were you feeling when Alinghi was second last on the turn though?

Thanks Kenchar.
It IS one of my biggest problems that I always seem to let the 'experts' influence my punting decisions.

Raw Instinct 21st February 2004 07:40 PM

Work this one out then I didn't pick Reactive on here but I liked the horse perfect draw and fresh was always going to get the run of the race.

Ohwell atleast I backed it myself and wegot the triffecta pitty we didn't have a shot at the first 4 would have goe very vey close it only paid a measly $230,000 up here.

Shaun 21st February 2004 09:42 PM

well as the only one to actually select Reactive on here i will claim that nice little $5x $17.70 piad in UNITAB and because True Glow was scratched i only invested $45 for a return of $88.50 and a profit of $43.50

puntz 22nd February 2004 01:46 AM

Perhaps there are many ways to cut it
on the punt, this is one of them
on selections posted for the comp.
==================================

OK. just a few teething problems, but overall, off to a flying start.

Answers to quires that came up :

'No Perth Uni-tab prices' [?]:

Perth Uni-tab prices from race 1 winners are [ from AAP site ]: 4.30,7.00,7.40,6.20,5.40,16.70,12.40,4.60

And for this week only-
Rosehill: 6.10,4.40,2.40,5.00,5.00,4.90,13.20,3.90
Caufield:
2.60,1.40,1.20,2.50,1.40,17.70,2.00,6.20,
2.40
Eagle farm:
6.90,4.90,7.00,2.90,5.00,5.00,4.40,11.10
Cheltenham:
3.90,4.30,1.60,8.90,16.90,10.40,11.90,3.10

'if you want to, I think you can put your tips in for the races that are still to run'.

Rule 9. Closing time for alterations is by official starting time of first tips race.

You can put tips in only up to your first tips starting time. Meaning, ALL your tips [ and any alterations to later tips ] must be in by the 'official' start time of your first tip [ to rule out an early tip being altered during a change to a later tip ].

This comp. like the last one, uses an honor system. The rules are designed to avoid major temptation only. Any obvious deliberate cheating will probably be spotted by someone somewhere.

The honor system applies to doing your own calculations of your banks weekly profit/loss standing and checking of Uni-tab prices for your winners as there is no hired help here. If you are wrong, someone will probably point it out.

Results should be edited into your tips post or added to this thread, so there is some record of your progress somewhere [you'll probably need to refer to it next week to work out where you are ].

A recorded time of editing results will show on the bottom of the page [which won't affect the time at top of page that notes the time you put in your tips ] and should be done after all races have run, not race by race [ for obvious reasons ].

Chuck,

The time you put in your tips was at 15.43 which by the rules would disqualify all your tips, as your first race, Caulfield R/6 started at 15.30 !!

However, as you noted this and as it is the first week, I vote your tips be allowed from R7 [ a win ] unless there is an objection [?]. Race 6 counts as a $10 loss [ credits are only for late scratchings of tips and not for unspent amounts from weekly $50 ].

The forum clock seems to be 8 min. out. So next week we will all allow for that. I vote that Sportz's 6min. late bet stands for this week [?].

My standing would have been $0 profit/loss, but as I changed my first bet R1 Melb. to a long shot [what the hell], I stand at $26 loss.

What a blue blood !! Did anyone take Alinghi for the big Diamond/Golden Slipper double ?
After his outstanding effort in the Diamond [ heart in mouth stuff yesterday for the big punters ] and the fact Freedman has already won 4 Slippers, what price Alinghi now in the Slipper ? The double was last achieved about 15 yrs. ago but I can't remember the horse [?].

*note: A new thread will be started for next Sat.28.02.04 on the Friday, or earlier if time obligations make it necessary . The thread can be put up by anyone.

Cheers.

Thanks Crash,

Yeah, I made sure that I put my tips in before my first race and then I was shocked to see the time on my post which suggested that I didn't. Anyway, the query about Unitab prices was actually for Kembla Grange. Unitab doesn't bet on NSW provincial meetings on Saturdays, so what will we do in future if someone picks a winner in one of these races? Use NSW divs?
