Reported in the press this morning that trainer Dermot Weld will not risk Vinnie Roe if the track at Flemington is not rain affected for Cup day, and that they could delay a final decision until Cup morning itself.

Work has prevented me from studying form this year.Im thinking media puzzle if it can reproduce 2002 form.Can anyone tell me if it still run in that sort of form.No-one seems to be mentioning it in their thoughts.

Think just the 2 runs this prep.

5th beaten 2.75 lens over 1800M on 8th Aug at The Curragh (IRE). Settled near the rear & battled on well. Good track.


7th beaten 9.5lens over 2800M on 18th Sep behind Vinne Roe at The Curragh (IRE). Settled at the rear (13th) & ran on fairly. Firm track.


On that form you might dismiss Media Puzzle as a real chance this time around but I'm sure in private the work has been put in, to have this gelding as fit as possible for the cup.

Jim Cassidy has been booked to ride NZ mare Lashed in the Cup.

Reported that connections of Elvstroem have had a change of heart and have now decided to by-pass the Mackinnon Stakes on Saturday and run Elvstroem in Cup.
