Dennis (trainer) was very pleased with the run. Working & eating well since.

The late West Coast Eagles champion Chris Mainwaring will be honoured with a memorial race at Geraldton next Sunday, October 14.

In conjunction with Geraldton Turf Club, Chris’ brother Brett has organised a race to honour the popular champion’s memory.

The race will carry the title of “The Chris Mainwaring Memorial”.

Brett is a former amateur jockey having ridden for many years at Landor, Kojonup and Carnarvon riding numerous winners in the process.

He last rode at Landor in 2003.

The memorial race will be held the day after a planned candle-lit vigil at Greenough Oval Geraldton on Saturday night.

Greenough Oval is the home of Rovers Football Club the first team that Chris played senior football for.

West River Charley looked back to his best in winning the Birthday Stakes on Saturday.

Was also impressed with Beat The Storm’s first-up effort. I’ve rated BTS performance as a PB.

I reckon the connections of BTS had a few quid on WRC,.... definitly should have lost the race. (even though it was a Partypoopers Plum Mover)

Yeah, amazed me no protest. As it turns out Staeck outed for 23 days causing interference to Stormed Out same race!

imo BTS had every chance..,,wasn't good enough on the day..,,agree good run in any case

partypooper 9th October 2007 05:37 PM

Chenille Prince, BTS every chance yes, lack of race fitness in the end I think, but if you view the head on it was carried off the track just about, I was certain that there would be a protest. Anyway one to follow there, do you agree?
