Try Try Again 20th April 2009 09:26 AM

Hi Two Dogs,

I do like horses that run on the pace in preference to horses coming from behind as they are less likely to meet with inteference.

I do not have the information available to check back over my neural selections to see if some horses could have been eliminated due to their running pattern.

Thanks for the interest.

It's very difficult for back-markers to win unless there is a genuine pace, especially in races of more than 1100-1200m. A 'genuine pace' is a race that is run within 2 sec. [12 lengths] of the track record for the conditions on the day.

Unless a race has at least 2 leaders [preferably more], a single leader will put the brakes on and turn the race into a jog and sprint, making it almost impossible for back-markers to wind up and run down the leaders.
Leaders or on-pacers generally win these races and accounts for most races above 1200m nowadays. Working out what the race pace is going to be is no easy task without the right info. Also, sectional times are useless unless the race concerned was truly run.

Hi Reded & Twodogs,

Sorry for not putting the selections up on Saturday but family commitments meant I just didn't get time. I appreciate your interest in the neurals.

There were 7 selections with just one winner (and one other placegetter - paid $1.20). I guess this was fortunate for me (and unfortunate for anyone following the selections) as the winner was Ladies In Luck which paid $12.20/$3.80.

As I will be away for the next 2 weekends the rules are given below.
  1. Only consider Metropolitan races on Saturdays
  2. Set Neurals to 3 for CF, TIM, CRS, DIST, $
  3. Set WT to 0 for Good/Fast, 1 for Dead, 2 for Slow and 3 for Heavy
  4. All other Neural setting are set to zero
  5. No Sydney races
  6. No Heavy tracks
  7. No equal rated races
  8. Only consider WFA, Open, F&M, Mares, C,H&G, 4yo+, and Class 6 (Note that the Class 6 is "open" Class 6 races and not "restricted" Class 6 races for F&M, 4yo+ or Mares etc.
  9. Qualifier must have both CF and TIM >=10 except for distance races where the qualifier must have CF >= 10 as no TIM is given for distance races
Results since 26th July 2008 are:-

255 bets
70 winners S/R 27.5%
129 places S/R 50.6%
Win bank $141.00 POT% 55.3%
Place bank $23.04 POT% 9.1%

Best of luck with all who jump aboard the Neural train and may it continue to throw up winners!
