I would be leaving Malcolm right alone after that run very average I thought against very average horses for the most part, he was entitled to get alot closer than he did there and certainly didn't do a great deal IMO, Dream Ballad was as good a run as it take what you like out of that.

Raw Instinct 26th August 2006 04:42 PM

Well done Breadman you absolutely kicked my ass the only horse I really liked all day long was Carael Boy but the fact they were racing on that piece of crap Kensington track for the first 4 races put me off of it still won a bit off it but didn't tip it here.

I have to ask why the hell did they race on the kensington track it is a woeful track shouldn't be used to even race coackroaches on let alone horses just a ridiculos decision IMO.

breadman 26th August 2006 05:05 PM

thanx raw,

i dont know why they did that. i know they are having awful water problems there and they are blaming the high rise buildings. but imo thats just crap. i think they really need to get someone from england over here to give them some advice on this matter after all they have all the experience in the world with conditions like this. lets face it too the worlds climate is changing. had a great day on the punt here too. which is always nice too. also cleaned up on the nfl and baseball too so its all good here at the tweed. cheers breadman.

Actually Carael Boy's race was on the course proper, Raw. Races 2, 3 & 4 were on the Kensington.

You've been so damn unlucky in this comp so far, Leroy. Your luck has to improve soon.

tell me about it!!
i'll keep plugging away, my luck has to change soon, does'nt it ?
it's all good fun though.

Raw Instinct 26th August 2006 05:52 PM

According to the Best Bets it was run on the Kensington Track if it was on the course propper I will be ********ed off it cut the bet I was going to have on im to a quarter of what I was going to.

crash 26th August 2006 06:11 PM

A hard day at the office.

I tell you what though Sportz, your scoring system has quickly encouraged punters to stick with the very short priced favourites. There is no incentive to take risk, just stick with the real shorties and get your win bonus points added on to their price [every shorty has a huge overlay].
Hard to miss a winner or two [almost 3 of them in Brisbane today]. Points should be SP only, win or place.

Sportz 26th August 2006 06:55 PM

Yeah, I realise now that I should have used a slightly different scoring system. Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time, but I have to admit that it does reward short priced runners a bit too much.

Does anyone have any complaints about me making a change to the scoring system at this stage? It won't have any effect on previous weeks' tips.

Raw Instinct 26th August 2006 09:18 PM

No worries here mate won't worry me the way I am tipping anyway.

breadman 26th August 2006 09:24 PM

Your the boss sportz. Im sure it wont worry anyone especially me. The idea is brilliant and lots of fun and thats my opinion anyway. Maybe the points are a bit wrong especially with me being in the top 4. hehehe.

Stix 26th August 2006 09:24 PM

Hi All

My apologies for being absent from the comp, especially to Sportz as he does a really great job putting these types of comps up for us.

Good Luck to those involved....

Great idea Sportz.
IMHO, a $3.70p placegetter should be worth 37 points and $1.50w winner should be worth 15 points. It rewards risk accordingly. A certain amount of points for winning a round added as a small bonus would be all that's needed and would scuttle any possible scoring bias. It also reflects the real world of punting [not football].

Cheers to all the winners this week [short priced FAV, HUGGERS] :-),

u guys are all gone now!!!!

Panther 27th August 2006 12:20 PM

Maybe instead of just giving points on basis of $10 win, you could try $10 each way. Whatever changes you make is fine with me.

umrum 27th August 2006 01:24 PM

Congrats sportz,

A rule change wont bother me none...

Oh I see, some here want a handicapped event [rent a wheel chair]!

ijuandaQLD 28th August 2006 06:53 AM

damn whingers. im last..... leave it how it is.

Sportz 28th August 2006 08:58 AM

Well, I've decided that in future, we'll do it this way:

We'll simply base the points solely on the $ returned from $20 win bets or $10 Each way bets. There will be no extra bonus points awarded for wins or placings.

I should have done it this way from the start, but never mind.

You'll have to tell me in your post if you're tipping a horse each way or win only. Simply put (Win) or (EW) next to each horse's name (including all your reserve selections as well). Or if you're having ALL of your selections for the win or ALL of them each way, then just tell me that in your post.

By the way, please remember that if you're tipping each way on a race with insufficient runners for a 3rd dividend, then you will obviously get no points for coming 3rd in that race.

who cares if you go a 101-1 winner, from the get-go the comp wasn't set for those situations, so............... live with it, might as well allow changes in posting times while your at it

Ok, I'm blind folded, hands behind my back..... fire away !!

Raw Instinct 28th August 2006 05:41 PM

I couldn't care less to be honest I am making up the numbers anyway. Upto Sportz as far as I am concerned it is his comp I will just play along see what happens.

Sportz 28th August 2006 06:43 PM

As I said, I think the original points system was a case of "it seemed like a good idea at the time". It had became clear that it was just too much of an advantage to pick short priced runners. I think this new system is fairer and I wish I had used it right from the start, but that's the way it goes. As for Stix's comment about changing the points system now, I think that's better than keeping it the same all the way through when you know that it's flawed.

leroy 28th August 2006 08:16 PM

Sportz comp, sportz rules, he does the work to put comps like this on.
Keep up the good work Sportz.
Lets just get on with it, its a good fun competition.

im sweet with the change in rules. just think they should be changed between seasons but i guess this isnt the nrl or afl and we may only play one.

12 PERFECT PROMISE (SAF) - Lee Freedman - C Newitt 2 55.5
13 BRINDABELLA - Tony Vasil - B Shinn 1 55.5

Well, the choice of feature race was a damn tough one this week. Although the Golden Rose certainly has more prizemoney, the Memsie is actually a higher graded race. And it's a WFA race as opposed to a 3YO SW race, so I've decided to go that way.

----------

Remember this week, to put either (Win) or (EW) next to all of your selections (including the reserves). Or if you want to have ALL of your selections win only or ALL of them each way, then just say so in your post.
