Web Servers in Australia
Moving to a place in Europe for a longish time where access to Aust. betting is not allowed.
Anyone knows a server service here that could provide access for me from overseas? Please no suggestions about VPN or hide identity it don't work we tried! Most reputable betting agencies are smarter than they look and don't let you log in. Some take your bets but no payout. Have no relos here to help me out by running my own server. Thanks |
Have you looked at Amazon
https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/?hp=tile I run one of these, you can set them up in different parts of the world, mine is running from Sydney, works just like logging in using Romote desktop, can install applications, i am running a windows server with Gruss and Office installed to use excel. |
Thanks for that Shaun, will try.

Hi Shaun
I mainly just want to log in and place bets manually no robots of any kind + watch some greyhound races on Sky mediacentre, what sort of a setup would you suggest I need? |
I currently use a T2 Micro server, that is the smallest, is very easy to change to a higher grade server if that doesn't suit you after testing it, have never tried watching any racing from it but will give that a go today.

thanks, let me know how it goes, probably will be watching no more than 6 to 9 races a day as I'm very strict with race selections. |
Don't know how you'd go with vision as most servers have 2mb or 4mb inbuilt video. Not the best quality :(

I just had a look and doing via remote desktop won't work for watching but would for placing the bets, watching racing i would use Hola attached to chrome, i have use this to watch direct race streams that were only on pay tv for Aus races but sent over seas, another option is maybe you could set up your own stream redirect from the server, am sure there would be an app that could do this so you would just use your own browser to connect to a web browser running from the server.

Placing bets is the important bit, I assume you knew you could place bets already? Just out of curiosity, why need a server if you live here, or are you using it it place bets overseas? If I have a browser installed on the server and open up sky wouldn't the race video play then on that browser, or sky won't be fooled by the servers's virtual position? I take it it's not physically located in Sydney? Sorry to ask so many questions, I know a great deal concerning computers and programming but in a narrow field, never got into server side of things. Wished someone from overseas could try this and verify if it works or not. Thanks for trying Shaun |

Found an Australian site, checking it out now, they may just have what I want $20 with 100GB of traffic month, more than enough for my needs. Thanks for the help. They also have cloud servers even a free one. https://www.serversaustralia.com.au/virtual-servers.php |

I will check that one out myself also, ty The reason i use a server is because i can access it anywhere, until a month ago i was also reliant on wifi for my internet, running a server all day to place bets would use up the allowance, i also like to have it all set up and just walk away and work on other projects, running multiple excel sheets became an issue so it is just more for convenience than anything. I tested watching the races as you described but it was just slow, i am sure there are other options. Yes i believe that server is physically located in Sydney, so if you were running a Bot for UK races and wanted the fastest access you could have one set up there with everything running, just for those that might want it, honestly don't know if this would be an issue with Betfair and an Australian account. |
