Eagle Farm Discussions

Race 1.
Looks a race for Cool Scene..he'll be short though..i didnt mind Jachaze's last run against a smart one ...the mile might suit, he drops weight and if he's running around at 9's or more he might be a nice e/w value..
Katsidis is in hot form as well..but worried about him riding at this weight so quickly after a break..but he had today off so should be refreshed..

Race 2.
Throw a dart here..the toppy looks the class here..but Navarro's last 2 runs are good ..he's got a good barrier and Jockey..in a open race looks good to me..
I liked the way Sea Artist fought against Rear Admiral last time..the extra distance suits and is fitter ..
will back both if the odds are right..hopefully they all come for the toppy and Atruims.

Race 3.
Not overly keen here..thought Step Right in had a good show here..another open race.

Race 4.
Keen on Counter Agent here..is just flying at the moment....Mathew Palmer has been riding him a treat lately,,very patiently ..if Pengally does the same he's right in this....would want better than 5's though..
Forget Lawler's last run..nothing got into that race..he'll be in this from a good barrier.

Race 5.
Cant find any reason not to back Thorpe here..fantastic run last start..tricky barrier but he gets back anyway..

Race 6.
Consular here...already have taken the 8.50..but if he gets above that tomorrow will have another go at him..
i think the tempo here will suit him..Mitani and Grab the phone will go pretty hard..
Consular strugled with the weight in the heavy last time ..but was still close up against a bunch of muddy's..will carry the weight better tomorrow and is super value at 8.50..
thought Show Biz and Lamond were the main dangers..

Race 7.
Been a fan of Algorithm ..this is the right race for him..havent agreed with his prep at times..and really dont think much of his trainer..
But should win this ..the only danger i can see is Zoe Lad who flys fresh..

Race 8.
Think Countess Bathory here..but doubt will be any value...
thought maybe Yubi flying late could be the only danger..
hope i'm not after a get of jail card free here..

Unlike me not to have a longshot running around on a day like today..weird but couldnt find one...maybe if i like the look of Cafe Francis in the 3rd i might have something on her e/w..this horse has the ability to surprise at times...

Sydney
Like Fangio here..always underated this horse..might get 6's..
Another Adam , Crown Princess and Square One.
Melbourne
Omaru Storm looks to tuff here..but if the weight stops him King Robdon has been racing very well and right in this..
Quintenella and Stratton Place look to good as well..value ?
Adelaide.
Glory March , Pride Of Archway and Tuscany Boy.
Gold Coast.
Parameter.
Geelong.
Captain Spalding

Good Luck all :)

Might add a few thoughts on eagle farm myself :)

Race 1 - Agree that Cool Scene looks good, two others that i thought might be thereabouts are Our Montague and Flying Dollar. They look an even bunch outside Cool Scene, though.

Race 2 - Can't get enthused about this race at all. Maybe atriums from the 1 from Image of Reality who'll enjoy this class.

Race 3 - Even field, but i like Learned Leo. Good win last time and from a good gate won't be far off. Step Right In has finally drawn an alley in a suitable race and can figure, Navajo Code might improve second up.

Race 4 - Can't believe I like a horse from an outside gate from the 1800 at EF, but Maizy May looks ok to me. Has performed well in the past here and at the distance and will be on pace, so at 20-1 i'm happy to be on her. Lawler and Motivate other good chances down in class.

Race 5 - I Like He's So Cheeky in this race. Has shown good ability in town before and it doesn't appear to be a strong race. Agree that Thorpe is a big chance and Electric Rory for a place also from the good gate.

Race 6 - Mitanni looks the goods to me here. Shouldn't be trapped deep here, judging by the runners inside him, and so should be able to produce his best. Consular will be thereabouts, as usual, if he gets the right run and Kreisler's Jewel for a place if there is enough speed.

Race 7 - I can never figure these 1000m races out, but i thought Zoe's Lad is a big chance fresh with adequate speed (which there should be). Imprisoned is a nice horse who could also race well fresh with Malta maybe improving on his first up run.

Race 8 - Not the greatest race to finish on, but i thought Casual Chick could improve back at the 1200 here. I've just got a niggling doubt about where she'll get to in the run. Countess Bathory the obvious danger, big effort last time at Ipswich - the longer straight should assist. Murray Downs a chance too, inside barrier in the big field a plus.

Best bet is probably Mitanni with the best roughie maybe Navajo Code for mine

Good luck everyone

Sven

Race 1: Cool Scene did get alot of favours last start and is going up 1.5kgs to go with barrier 14 maybe that is enough to make him a bit of a query. I probably won't bet in the race but I think Jachaze might be hard to hold out looks as though it will relish the rise in ground aswell as the bigger track also thought Stamos Pro Siadnow for some reason might be able to run on into a place there isn't alot of depth in this field though.

Race 2: I think Image of Reality is a pretty good horse but whether it can carry 58.5kgs and win this is another thing. Not sure if there is any rain around in Brisbane now if the track is still a bit wet then Argyle Lass might be a bit of a chance here after that Lust for Victory and Argenterie look to have solid claims.

Race 3: Hard to knock Hard to Catch but the weight is a worry Loughnan looked pretty solid across the line and will appreciate the step up in distance. Decibeel and Step Right In both look to have solid claims aswell Navajo Code might be one at odds having his 2nd start in Australia that could improve dramatically it happens so often with those kiwi horses.

Race 4: Not particularly interested in the race if I was to back anything might go e/w on Lawler.

Race 5: Once again not really interested in the race but I don't mind Tearinupthecountry and Electric Rory.

Race 6: Consular is always a chance in most races he contests certainly any he contests in Brisbane the weight won't worry him as long as the track is no worse than dead if it is even wet I wouldn't have a clue if it is or not. after that there are so many chances in a very good race which I imagine will be won by the horse who gets the most luck in no particular order I like Show Biz Kid (Great in the Straddie) Kreisler's Jewel (watch him rattle late) Lammond (should be ready to win) Mitanni (no need to say anything here) and River to the Sea (good run on unsuitable ground last start). in saying all that I will concentrete on probably Lamond and Kreisler's Jewel they both have great claims here I feel but I think that Lamond might be able to settle a bit closer today might be enough to get him home.

Race 7: Algorithm has a great record at the track and distance and has probably saved his best runs to date here aswell. Panzer might be a bit of a hope but dropping back from 1200 won't be the best thing I don't think. Shysu is weighted to be in this upto it's eye balls just a matter of whether it can get in from the wide barrier.

Race 8: hard to go past Countess Bathory here but she falls short quite often to, St.Nicco, Canadian Shuffle and Twanged all look to have good claims aswell. Thought San Franfrisco could win but the 22 barrier might have something to say about that.

Mav i was on CA too.
There is a million ways to get beat, but I think we just found another one.
Did you see the race? Brad Pengelly was sitting up on it like one of those jockeys/riders that used to race in the trot races with no sulky that you see in old American footage from the South.:)

maverick1993 9th July 2005 04:36 PM

Woohoo

Race 1.
a no bet race here..Cool Scene was always to good but to short for me..
Race 2.
Navarro had his chance,,dissapointing..;;a loss here
Race 3.
Nice win here..never liked the odds but needed the action..nice tri as well
Race 4.
Rider rode Indian style ...unlucky Jose...would of been more confident with Mathew on him..but thats racing.
Race 5.
Thorpe was alot closer than usual here...didnt have that sprint he usually has because of it i think..
Race 6.
Celebration time..great win..tri and 1st 4 ..biggest bet in 6 months and easily one of my best collects.....always going to be setup for the backmarkers..

another huge win for the punters club as well...if i told you the record we have with this club .you wouldn't beleive it..
it all started with Merlot Now and Sparkling now ..lately Top Marc ,Verb and Consular theres 5 of us and we started with $250....i'm to embarrased to tell you what we've won..but it makes my percentage look shocking..
and all we do is sit around on a thurday after work ..beer in hand and vote on what we'll bet on for the weekend....we are looking at racing one ourselves now..
i'll let you guys guys know all about it and we can follow its progress on here..might be fun..

Race 7.
Algorithm dissapointing again....just cant catch this horse..
whispers about a change of trainer ...thank god .
Race 8.
Countess Bathory is always going to be like this i think...she'll be flying late..will win like a champion here and there ..just enough to suck you in for another go..

Sydney.
A loss in Sydney..
did manage to get Jeteye..finally.
thought i had it with Crown Princess....Another Adam hit a brick wall..and sqaure one did well but not good enough..
Ironic how i dumped So Assertive and then he wins...should of known...
Melbourne
Stratton Place here....nearly but no cigar..
King Robdon..still running ?
continues my shocking record in Melbourne..
Melbourne is my only negative state on my percentages...
Adelaide.
Pride Of archway..great run almost there..
a loss in adelaide ..

a few tris here and there and some e/ws but if Consular doesnt get up i'd be singing for my supper tonight..
but he did so off to the Casino tonight..

Hope you guys jagged a winner :)

maverick1993 9th July 2005 04:38 PM

well done Svenslad ..some nice winners there .. good work.

Svenvlad 9th July 2005 04:45 PM

Thanks Maverick, was a good day - mainly from Hes So Cheeky though...:)

Hope you had a win too

Sven

Raw Instinct 9th July 2005 05:16 PM

I didn't bet much at all today I did go after Lamond pretty hard in a race it looked thrown into yet it put in yet another disappointing effort I think I can officially say it is sacked for good that damn horse promises so much and delivers nothing to often. Twanged was the other I went after in Brisbane only to be disappointed again atleast he was a bit unlucky unlike Lamond who simply isnot good enough.

Now for the biggest blunder of the day got off of Ascana today it was either him or Twanged and I took Twanged well that worked out well didn't it and missed the first 4 in Brisbane thanks to Grandway Shogun wasn't to disappointed with that as I just didn't think it was good enough proved me wrong yet again.

In case you haven't already worked it out I had an absolute shocker today and at the moment am wondering if I shouldn't just put the cue in the rack for awhile wait for the spring we'll see.

maverick1993 9th July 2005 08:56 PM

its a hard time of the year Raw..you'll come good..during the week i was 0 for about 8 at one stage...
and if i take Consular out of the equation today i'd be suffering a big loss..

can't tell you how nervous i was today about Consular ...alot of good judges were'nt giving him a chance at all..some were rating him 25's ...this after i'd already backed him on Sportsbet....

Must admit i'm better with the horses than at the Casino..blew $500 in an hour ....

jose 9th July 2005 09:25 PM

Good stuff Mav, hope you won a bundle.
The ride on CA by B Pengelly didn't seem to worry him much, he came out and rode the next winner.
I'll bet he a bit sore though. ouch.

maverick1993 9th July 2005 09:48 PM

Good Horsmanship though..can you imagine being out in front of the field like that ,,,,scary as hell...

have a few bookers running tomorrow that i'll share..
Saranac, Meteorite, Listen Pal , Statice .

like the big race at the Sunny Coast tomorrow..Active Combat, Omnitrader and Promising Joy look the 3..
Active is also nominated for Grafton..wonder where he runs ? .will maybe give us a pointer..

Meteorite's last run has to be seen to be believed...this horse can run..is facing a big jump in grade and distance..but i like him...

Statice is a funny horse..had 2 years off before this prep..didnt like his last run but the runs before were good...i'll give him another chance..

Listen Pal ..if its wet he'll be in this..

Saranac..last couple have been good...hoping for good odds though e/w.

maverick1993 10th July 2005 04:22 PM

another lucky day today..Meteorite and Saranac :) both winning

Saranac was ridden a treat today..great win..nice tri to :)
I like this Meteorite...he's still learning and does a few things wrong but looks promising..hasnt beaten anything yet and not sure if 2000m is his go..didnt have his usual finish today but still good enough.....
Promising joy good odds and nearly got there..
Listen Pal and Statice ??? dunno havent seen the video yet..

been a great weekend.... hope you guys jumped aboard..dont know how long this will last...

will see if the flukey run continues tomorrow...
Petrol Head ,,,good horse whos been very unlucky lately....lets jump on and enjoy the ride ..

jose 11th July 2005 05:27 PM

You are on fire Mav.
I haven't backed any of 'em but will start to take a bit more notice now.
Keep up the Brissy posts for Saturdays, I think they are great reading.
It also gives a bit of an idea of how other punters sort out a race.
Are you in Brisbane?

maverick1993 11th July 2005 07:34 PM

Hi Jose...yep in Brissie and usually on course most times..
fingers crossed the run continues..
some nice races tomorrow that i'm trying to work out...

Sportz ..Xpt or anyone.
Have you looked at Townsville races yet ? have been trying to work out the big one Race 9..i have 3 bookers running in it..Undenied, Unite n Prosper and Don Sequalo...but alot of the horses in this race have been running in the bush ...and some at real good time...almost to good which makes me wonder if the times are truely acurate at those bush tracks,,******************** seem to rate the times highly ,, but with the weight some of them have been carrying ..its seems just to suss...
hard to rate the race,,Raid n Rule ? orrong ?? King wells ?
any thoughts you have on the race would be much appreciated .
and this Dianne Jones ..do you know much about her ?

William has Don Sequalo rated in his top 4 ...i have him rated on top so far..
but i'm still refining..
Help ? :)

maverick1993 11th July 2005 10:21 PM

Too hard. think i'll stick with Don Sequalo..has been good to me and races prominent and will atleast give himself a chance..

other bookers running tomorrow..
San Vitale, Lady Viv , Rebridled and Monte Bianco..

Good Luck all :)

Franskter 12th July 2005 09:19 AM

Maverick. I will try and add some of my thoughts to the Brissie thread for this this Saturday. I picked up some nice e/w money on Wolfman (sharp improver) and Desert Flight. I was reading your thread and thinking that Consular was a no hope and forget He's So Cheeky. To add insult to injury, the NSW Tab DFS ratings had Consular on top in the time ratings and He's So Cheeky was a stand out.

Jeez, if we had gone wide on yours, Svens and my pics for each race.....we would have taken out the entire card.

maverick1993 12th July 2005 03:54 PM

Woohoo :)

Wow Don Sequalo ...couldnt believe the odds ... had him rated at 5.50 lol ..

was 0 for 3 with San Vitale, Lady Viv and Rebriddled (dumped from my stable) all losing ..

I'm glad i stuck with my ratings even though i was in doubt...

Hope you guys jumped on board .. the magic continues :)

Look forward to your comments Frankstar this weekend....we've been doing very well of late ...and how Consular slipped under the radar is a bit baffling but it does happen....thought Don Sequalo today was the same..

gazman 12th July 2005 03:56 PM

gooooooooooooood sh-t

hey mav, allways liked the don but you put me right into yes mode.,,could not beleive the price and the more he blew the the more i threw(is that a word ) ..im going fishing now(i live 400ks north of perth on the coast so catching tea is a peice of ********) hey i also enjoy your brisse talk it my favorite place to punt for me it allways seems to have the best value..cheers gaz.

jose 12th July 2005 03:59 PM

Mav I have just got home from work and seen the divvy for DS. in Townsville.
Hope you got stuck into him.
I try to get to the track in Bris. myself (mainly for a day on the drink with the boys), but a missus and 2 kids put the kybosh on it most weeks.

maverick1993 12th July 2005 04:00 PM

Thanks Gaz.....Brissie and Adelaide have been the best for me ....
Fishing on a Tuesday night...i'm envious :) ..i'll be stuk in front of the video and computer trying to work out the races tomorrow..

Cheers .

gazman 12th July 2005 04:12 PM

more sun

hey mav it would be hard to find a better place in the world than here and now days with all this elec tek its no disadvantage...hey i allso have family that work inside the industry and agreed with you with what you said about old spyman and to tell the truth i think the closest he has come to turkey was at mums last xmas..cheers gaz

maverick1993 12th July 2005 09:37 PM

Better list my tips for tomorrow..seems to be lucky and dont want to jinx it..

Grafton
R6. Have been on Admiral Spy but the weight he's got ??? Raadisi meets him way better in the weights than last time ...but Admiral Spy has carried weight before and has come back better this prep..
Will back both..
the dangers Anjolino and Bavossa.
R7,. Umatrick and Poetic Papal.(see Ramornie thread)

Eagle farm
R4. Abu Simbel has ability...this should suit..he'll drop out the back and storm home..has been dissapointing of late ,,but will take on trust.
R6. Cortigana . will be on top of the ground this time..ran time before and hasnt much to beat here..
R7. Brissie Lions...a bit of a longshot here..this horse can fly late ..there will be heaps of speed here ..hopefully he'll storm home and jag a win at good odds...e/w

Melbourne.
Dont know why i bet here..always a shocker..
But the 1 shining light down there is Saladare for me..so i'll be loyal ..
also think at odds Thomas Henry will be a nice e/w

Not really confident on anything tomorrow..so i'll need all my lucky charms i think..

maverick1993 13th July 2005 04:03 PM

Summary

The weight was to much for Admiral Spy ..Raadisi ? dont know ..
Umatrick ran on well..just got to far back..Poetic PApal had his chance but the 1200m was alittle risky trying to repeat it and was proven...
got 1/2 the tri in this race ..dam For Valour knocked me out of the 1st 4....

Melbourne ?? why bother ..lol..i'm cursed down there ..had an e/w on Thomas henry and a win for Saladare..poor things never had a chance ..lol.

Brisbane..
Nice winner in Abu Simbel ..i'm glad i had atleast 1 win for the day..
Brissie Lion ..what the ? i thought he'd be 15's ...no value at all so no bet at all....another race where i would of layed the fav..Betfair here i come ..

Still not a shocking day thanks to Abu Simbel...so will keep on keeping on..
Tomorrow..
Grafton
Miss Belatorie (won with this horse exactly this time last year)
Dancing Daggers in the CUP (the speed up front will suit)
i like Empyreal as well won a crap load for me last start...can lead or take a sit ..and is flying .
best to back both i think..
Hipwell ..(loves the track loves the distance)
hopefuly it doesnt rain..

Wencelas Square at ballarat !!! has to win this one ..hopefully will be better than the 2.50 in the paper..this horse can fly ..but never has any luck...the best maidener running around Oz.
Nasarlo in Brissie ...will lead this..and at the odds will be a nice e/w.(i think)

Good luck guys,,

gazman 15th July 2005 06:07 PM

take home cash

hey jose,,,if you take home a pocket full of cash she'll let you out every sat and you can come home ********ed as you want..cheers gaz.

jose 15th July 2005 06:39 PM

If only it was that easy Gaz.

Svenvlad 15th July 2005 09:48 PM

Doomben thoughts....

I might add a few of my doomben thoughts for tomorrow...

Race 1 - I think Crystal Wit might be the way to go here. If she can return to near her best from Melbourne, she'll be very tough to beat. Yubi must be a chance also (with a better trip than last time) after the good win on the wet 2 back. Mr Tibula isn't the worst fresh, either.

Race 2 - This is a raffle. Any of them could win (save a couple of the emergencies). I ended up with Socialist, fitter after the 1st up run and is drawn to get a reasonable run behind what seems to be a hot pace. I liked the only run of the first emergency Sleek Repeat, where it nearly nailed subsequent town winner, Bold Sequalo (admittedly, giving it a few kilos). The two Webb runners are also hopes with the speed on.

Race 3 - Don't know. These 3yo's are a pretty even bunch. Maybe Learned Leo over Hard To Catch and Caffe Francais, who seems to put in some good runs at this track. Back em at your own peril, though :)

Race 4 - We Can't Say That here. Improving staying mare with no weight (as opposed to Desert Flight) and on pace. I think she can beat Desert Flight, the weight might tell in the last 100m and Crimson Gown a chance for a place.

Race 5 - I like Carolina's Boy. Back to the 1000m suits and can run good times. Levante gets conditions to suit here and can figure from the 1 with top jock and Nessuno for the place. Just think he's a risk coming back to the 1000.

Race 6 - Throw a dart. Maybe Shakespearian at nice odds, but i don't muchly care for the race.

Race 7 - Imperialism should win this. If he reproduces the run 2 back, i think he's a bit too strong. The 1666 was too far last time but back to the 1350 with the good alley.....yea, he'll do fine. If theres not much pace, Road To Heaven and Kanes Crossing are chances also. Little Punc is a money muncher so i refuse to put him in - he may win, but i've found its more profitable to leave him alone.

Race 8 - Not the greatest race to finish on, but i like Grab The Phone at around the $6 or $7 mark. He'll be on pace, and hopefully won't get pressured much during the race. Hoofer and Yukon Pride are chances aswell. Hoofer can put in a good one here and there and Yukon Pride has been racing consistently lately.

Best is probably Imperialism with the best roughie Caffe Francais,

Good luck with whatever you wager on tomorrow...

Sven
