The Good 'ol US of A
Guys
Not wanting to put anyone's nose out - BUT - can those people who post US related information do so under this thread....... No offence intended (Saratoga, Xanadu, Brave Chief et al.), it just keeps some order.... Thanks Yours In (Australian) Punting Stix |
yea sorry bout that stuff, i understand you'd want to keep that thread clean.
maybe management can trim the fat off the blackbookers thread for ya. |
Great idea Stix! and I wondered how long it would take til someone said something. But keep in contact on there as it may come into play on Breeder's Cup Day. How much interest is there in the BC in OZ? The time diff hurts the exposure in a way. But if you get ********ed and stay up all night it could be great! LOL Lots of VALUES that day!
|
Trim the fat off the black book absolutely.
|
Unless of course it concerns ALINGHI kicking our ass or KEEP THE FAITH kicking mine!
|
Maybe managment could add an international forum
|
Nah , Shaun. I think it's better to keep it under the USA thread on this forum, that way all us over-worked and under-valued horse players can minimize our time constrictions and more efficiently lose money at the track. LOL But seriously, it does save time to keep it on here. Wonder why there aren't any Europeans on here? And they call US dumb yanks!
|
I have to ask sorry if this is annoying anyone to but are you an NFL fan Saratoga I have been a Chicago Bears fan for about the last 15 years or so and was hust wondering you would be surprised how many times I ask americans about this and they come out and say they support either the Packers or the Vikings terrible really :)
|
Raw Oysters, Yes I am an NFL fan. I like ice hockey the best and play in a an adult league and coach kids. So the NHL is my favorite sport. Hard to bet in regular season; but can be a great bargain in the playoffs. I'm a 49'ers fan and have been since about 1974 when i was 9 years old. They stunk back then. Worse than now if you can imagine. Check out the old records if you want to get a laugh. They actually went 0-14 one year I think. I know they at least went 2-12 back when thye played only 14 games.
I have not liked the Packers since they started to win about 10 years ago or so. The Niners had such a rivalry with them I couldn't BEAR it. LOL Now that they are average, I kinda like Brett Favre. He's such a regular guy who has had real world problems and doesn't whine like all these other sissys. He was really worried during the Hurricane when they couldn't find his family in Mississippi, but everybody's alright. Plus the Packers are owned by the people of the town in Wisconsin. Only team like that in the NFL. I hated the Bears in 1985 when they had the Fridge and all that but now they are ok with me. The team I route against now is my home team- Philadelphia Eagles. They used to be such a blue collar team with no prima donnas; but now they are lame. and i can't stand Andy Reid- he's a self righteous Mormon (I trust I won't offend anyone on a gambling site by saying that. political correctness is for hypocrits) His first order of business when he took over as coach was to ban facial hair and cursing by the players, Yeah right Andy! That might happen. Ya ever been to the states Raw? and how about Chi-town? |
I must admit I was never a big fan of the fridge when I 1st started watching just looked like a fat oath to me, Sweetness is my favourite player and I never got the chance to see any of his career just what I have managed to get hold of on tape. Never been to the states would love to one day just a matter of getting the cash together to go I guess. I am with you on the Eagles I hate them the Packers (I simply have to hate them), Vikings, Ravens and Redskins.
|
We do think alike! I hate all those teams, too. and BAltimore is only an hour away and is our other home team. I can't stand that murderer Ray Lewis. I understand about the Packers. It has to be done. LOL! I've been to Soldier Field for the very last Grateful Dead concert, a month before Jerry Garcia died, but never for a game. I did go to Wrigley and Comiskey for baseball. We'll pool our money and meet halfway, say Hawaii for the Pro Bowl, since I don't have enough money to get down under. Maykbe I can get my brother to fly me down since the ************** will be loaded with cash for moving to Perth on Monday and having all his living expenses paid. I knew I should have paid attention in college instead of hiding in the back reading the racing form LOL
|
hey saratoga,
when I was in Vancouver a couple of years ago I went to a Bruins ice hockey match....whoooh! what a game! I am sure that if we had a different climate here in Oz everyone would be a fan. The hype and the action certainly gets the spectators involved although the $75 cost for a ticket made us blink(ie. when converted into our "pacific pesos")! There are only relatively minor competitions here in Australia but I can catch some games on FoXSports. I'll have to think about betting on some games in the future. Cheers. |
Excellent X -man! The Bruins are the rivals of my favorite team in all of sports-The MONTREAL CANADIENS!!!! My dad's cousin played for them back in the 40's and was the MAN! He was a goalie( "A" goalie?-like saying PHAR LAP is "A" horse!) He won six Vezina Trophies for Best Goalie in NHL outof seven years!!!!
He didn't start playing until he was 27-in nhl. SO his career was short, otherwise alot of hcokey experts say he would have been the best of all time! He still was ranked #36 best hockey player in the history of the NHL by the hockey news!!! He's in the hall of fame and all that..... His name was "Big" Bill Durnan. He was quite an odd ball! LOL Put his name in the computer and check him out..... I always get stuff on E-Bay.... I'd love to check out Aussie hockey. I know a professional Aussie figure skater named Gary Irving who lives here in Delaware and now teaches skating. His wife is hot!!! |
I used to really like the NHL there a few years back but because of the strike and the lack of coverage over here it is hard to really keep up with it all that well. I know I could go to the website but it isn't the same as seeing the games. I was a Blackhawks fan guess once I started following the Bears I adopted the Cubs & Blackhawks I cannot stand basketball so I would never have been a Bulls fan but I was a Michael Jordan fan he was a freak. Worst part is my history of following sports teams obviously none of those have won anything since I have been following them I amnot that ************ old. I have been a Tigers fan in the NRL here and have managed to witness them lose 2 gand finals 16 years ago and they haven't been back since. Liverpool in the English Premier League are the only team to win anything 1 FA Cup 1 European Cup and 1 Champions League, The later was ther greatest though that was an awesome game.
|
CELTIC!!!! Raw CELTIC!!!!! Ooh ahh up
|
Did you get anything on Shasta , raw.
|
No mate backed it on the nose pretty ordinary ride I thought it should have won but hey you get that.
|
I don't want to tell you waht the 3-12 exacta paid over here.
|
Quote:
At least your Premier League team have won something while you have supported them, i started supporting Newcastle United in 94/95 when i was 14 and i don't need to tell you what happened the following season!!! plus any season after that especially the start of this season, sorry about stealing Owen away from ya's :D I really hope the Tigers do it for ya this year Raw, i'm a Penrith supporter have been since i was born, and you guys remind me so much of us in 2003, sorry about last week :D Oh yeah by the way guess which NFL team i support, yep thats right Green Bay, go the cheeseheads!!!!! Besides that i support the Swannies in the AFL, hopefully we can knock of the Saints this week. So anyway Raw not going much better then you with supporting teams, Penrith 2 premierships in 25 years of supporting, Newcastle United zilch in 10 years with 2 F.A Cup losses, Swannies zilch in 10 years with 1 grand final loss, and Green Bay with a few Superbowl wins in 10 years. |
Testa, your cheeseheads are on at 6 am monday from what i hear (on tv).
Talk about an old school black and blue NFC matchup (Detroit and GB)! I really love Brett Favre now eveb though used to route against him (49'ers fan!). Down to earth Mississippi boy who's lived the blues and can tough it out. Love that guy! |
Another Southern fella that I like is Carolina's Jake Delhomme from Louisiana. the panthers play the new "Americas team" the N.O. Saints who obviously want to win for inspiration for their ravaged state, but so does Delhomme, and he doesn't have as many distractions as the Saints. pick---CAR -7 (Chi+5) (under 37 Mia-Den) (under 43 Minn/TB) (KC -3)PS I was at a concert in Philly last year when Jake and his crew came in the night before the playoff game with the Eagles. (North Mississippi Allstars --the baddest band around!!!) Jake is obviously a fan too. Well, the crazy Philly fans started a big fight with them and they had to leave. Idiots!!!
|
Those Eagles fans are a very different breed aren't they Saratoga they might actually make the Raiders fans look normal.
|
Aw Man, RAW! Even you, down under, knw that! I can't wait to call WIP(610 AM) and bust the Eagle's fans chops! LOL Philly's only about 20 miles from here. I gotta hear it all the time.... I used to route for them a little but now i can't stand them. THe Flyers either(DESPISE THEM!!!!!)hockey
I'm thinking about going to the 49'ers game at Philly next week, but last time I went to a SF game there on a monday night, the fans were brutal. I didn't catch any grief, but alot of Niners fans did. In the old days when the EAgles were an underdog working man's team it was alright to be crazy like that, especially when DAllas came to town. Man do the EAgles fans hate DALLAS!! Do you want to know what that Shasta ex paid? I wasn't there. |
Mor Bottom Feeders...
Repost:
Evangaline Downs 31/08/05 This Man's Darling won by 17L unextended after being pressured in the lead from the 900m mark. Obvious but a huge win. Worth watching this replay if you can get a hold of it Kara's Cat Was trapped 4 wide around the clubhouse turn, found the lead then pressured by both the #6 inside & #9 outside to the 600m pole. Still managed to fight on & only beaten inside the final 100m to run 3rd with a 4L gap to 4th. Crawfish Etouffee Led in a fast pace, being pressured by the #9 to boot. After doing all that early work, the jockey took off before acceptances at the 700m mark & was 4L clear at the 400m. Tired final 200m but that was expected. Winner had a cold inside run & was suited by the early speed. Hoosier Park 03/09 & 04/09 Gold Brick was at big odds & ran a bottler. Led in a very fast CT lead, found a small break on the HT & kept fighting to the 150m. Was a sitting duck to the late closers. Look for a slower pace & or positive jockey change. The times at Hoosier Park over the 2 meetings I saw were very, very slow, so I guess they are the lowest of the low there?? Princess Teresa From gate 10, sat outside leader, no cover in a cut-throat lead, with a 6L or 7L gap to 3rd early. Strode clear in stretch unextended & untouched to a 5L win. Had speed & handled pressure so surely this is one that can step up in grade. |
Thanks Brave, I'll mark those and let you know if they come up and how they do. But I must say, no horse named CRAWFISH ETOUFFE knows anything about acceptances and 700m! He's a doggone Cajun, mon ami! LOL! Hoosier is brutally bad but I hit a tri there last week by just watching the horses as they came out on the track... .................... You know what they put in gumbo and etouffee?
Anyting dat run too slow or fly to low! LOL Great old Cajun saying that not many people know about. Bon Chance et Bon vie! (Good luck and good life) |
ok what did the exacta pay mate.
|
Sorry Raw, my deown unda mate! $1800! THe quinella only paid 300 and the tri paid like 700. Ya just never know over here. I always try to play a couple of weird combos in the later races. Here's another weird one. King ALfred #2 on Sunday paid $13.80 to place and I bet win and show trying to outsmart the pool before I left the turf club. The horse was 1/5 when I bet him to win. I thought the best he would be was, POSSIBLY, 2/1! He only paid $3.80 to show.
On another note, my brother and sister-in-law are on their way to Perth. They are moving there for my brother's job in mining. And when I wake up this morning, I hear an AL Quada operative here in US has threatened Los ANgeles and AUstralia. What the f!!! IJ just got done telling everybody how well like Australia is and all that. Only those dick wads could dislike Aus. I can even understand them hating us, but what the f!!! Australia! When they bombed that club in Indonesia or whereever that ********ed me off, as much as the WTC. At least they warned us. I get a little worried, because my brother will have to travel to Indodnesia for work. Weird bunch those guys...... |
I think I'll pass on the gumbo...
Would I even want to know what they put in gumbo & etouffee?? :p What I don't know won't hurt me.
Entries: Crawfish Etouffee.....Evangeline Downs 14th.....race 2. Gate 1. so this race comes down to speed. Will he be pressed? Can he take a sit on the fence? I loved his run though, looks superb value at 10/1. This Man's Darling.....Evangeline Downs 15th.....race 6. Should be odds-on, so no bet. Kara's Cat.....Evangeline Downs 15th.....race 7. Gate 4 this time, not gate 9. Once again will just depend on the value. |
Who dat train dat horse? Iz dat dat Keith Borgeois or Samuel Breaux? I love those Cajuns man! I wonder what will happen with Mardi Gras?
|
Damn: 2 winners from 2 today
Of course they win when I forget to post them :(
Capt Spaulding. won @ $16.40 at Finger Lakes. Cielavia won @ $7.90 at Fort Erie. After last weeks poor showing, I didnt bother posting these here because I was thinking that the class was just too poor to trust. Still, a few of these havent raced since. Love is Kind i jotted down today from the 15/09 Penn National meeting. Very "interesting" ride, not ridden out but was gobbling up leader late. Your Virtual StableTM Captain Spaulding Sat 3 wide outside leader in a very fast pace! no cover from gate 10, stuck on OK but worked very hard. Cielavia Sat outside leader, no cover in fast pace. Has accelleration & was used too much. Sitting duck in stretch today. Closing Argument Great run in Derby, showed enough speed, trapped 4W the trip, had cover, hit lead beaten final stride. Under-rated? Crawfish Etouffee Led in fast pace, pressured, jockey took off at 700m, 4L lead at 400m, ran 2nd 4.5L beaten final 100m, winner had cold inside run. Gold Brick (JPN) Led in fast cut-throat lead, pressured constantly, found a small break on HT, held on to 150m Kara's Cat 4W CHT, found lead, pressed all way by 2 horses, found a break, beaten final 100m Love Is Kind 2nd in MSW, beaten 2.2L, beat 3rd by 5.2L. Lacked speed over 5 1/2F, but has depth, unextended final 100m, still took good ground off winner. Wants 7F +. Mr. Question Raced 3W no cover on pace from gate 12, no vigour by jockey, 2nd beat 3rd by 4L Princess Teresa Gate 10, sat outside leader no cover in fast CT lead, 6L gap to field, won unextended in stretch by 5L Sea Patrol Worked very hard & won well with gaps. Sat outside leader in fast pace, had Capt Spaulding on his outside pressuring, dashed away on turn. Seattle Schifty Good early speed, raced 3W no cover, made move on leaders at 700m, strong final 200m with 7L gap to 5th This Man's Darling Led in solid CT lead, then cantered away, won 17L unextended final 200m Tiyourselfon Raced 3 wide no cover behind leader, some accelleration, beaten 0.2L with 4.7L gap to 3rd. 3L in front at 100m. Gold Brick, Crawfish, Kara's Cat & This Man's Darling all unplaced last week. Haven't heard anything about Closing Argument since the Belmont or Preakness. I dont get to see the good'uns. |
Penn National 16/9
Unflawed In driving rain, sat outside leader in fast cut-throat lead. Lost about 3/4L at about the 600m when slipped in the mud, got going again, reeled in the inside horse & showed some dash to kick clear into the stretch. Had a riderless horse run straight towards him here & didn't shy away. Knocked up final 100m after working very hard. Excellent run, unsuited by the pace.
|
Hey there Brave, Sorry to hear ya missed those 2. My friend has been watching one at Penn National and he's in tonight. PYRITE IN FLIGHT has some back class and won easily 2 back at a big div. Last at Charlestown, PYRITE was 4-5 wide the whole trip so throw that one out. Should get decent effort from the 1 hole and hopefully a good price. I think it is the 2nd race. I am going to Black book all those horses you put on the earlier thread so I don't miss them, especially the Penn Nat. horse below.Must have been a crazy race. I have been keeping my night forms so I can look at any of the black bookers you might have. Thanks.
|
Remington Park 17/09
Run of night was Carl. Again this horse sat outside leader in a fast pace, had a break of about 6L to the rest of the field after 800m. Took control, led field into stretch & showed a bit of kick. Knocked up only final 100m. Did a lot of work & was a siting duck.
|
Brave, MR. QUESTION is in tonight at Retama in the 7th. HE IS THE 9 horse stepping up to the next condition. Morning line is 4-1. He looks good, even at 6f with Ramos back on board again. The race goes in about 20 minutes. Sorry to be so late. Also, UNFLAWED ran in the 2nd at Penn National, but i didn't see how he did, Gotta go now and bet the IPSWICH SPEED!!!
|
Cheers SS
He ended up paying $13.00. Good spotting SS.
Unflawed ran 4th, Princess Teresa finished well back but may have been caught 4 wide without cover early. Tyourselfon was due to race yesterday but the meeting was cancelled. Small profit for the week, thanks to Mr Q again :) |
MR ????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Hey there Brave! He's a game horse right now, isn't he Brave? I didn't see he race but my friend told me he won just like the race before. He also said to watch "CORDILLERA" who ran in the 6th Retama and was steadied a FEW times because of the jockey (Omar Rodriguez) running her up into horses tails more than once. She should break maiden next out.
|
Love is Kind is entered in R5 at Philly Park on 2/10 over a mile. Hit the line hard over 5 1/2f last start.
Tiyourselfon is entered to run on October 2, 2005 at WOODBINE in R7. Isnt Woodbine in Canada?? Last raced at Fort Erie & was a big run. |
All times are GMT +10. The time now is 11:12 PM. |
