Newcastle Gold Gup - Early betting move
Money has come for Zumanity in antepost betting in the Cup.
Not without its merit either. When you analyse the weights, he is the best weighted horse in the race. Stormhill is weighted awkwardly (and gives 3.5kg to Zumanity) and Carael Boy gets no favours giving Zumanity 3kg. Zumanity also has a 1.5kg turnaround on Men at Work. Devastating and High Cee appear to be class (and perhaps distance) queries, maybe they are up to it but maybe not. $8.50 is still available for Zumanity but I suspect not for much longer. Good value though for a real chance. The other well weighted horse to respect I believe is Dancing Daggers. My roughie trifecta (leaving out all the favourites) is to box Zumanity, Dancing Daggers and Carael Boy (who is great value at $26.00 for such an honest horse in current solid form). Good luck all. |
I think High Cee will smash them. Its last 2 runs have been ultra impressive.

Here are my ratings for the race

High Cee is the bomb!!!! He's gonna smash em. He's The REAL DEAL!!!! I've been waiting for him to step up and run at the higher levels. Now, if only I could bet him. The infamous Turf Club is only taking up to the 6th. Go get em! Ya know High Cee is gonna win now LOL

Newcastle Gold Gup - Early betting move
It was a very open field today. I couldn't go past the Wyong Cup winner Carael Boy today at 20-1. If only..........
A big heart goes a long way!! Having said that, High Chee is the one to follow........... |

Well, you were half right. It was a dead heat between High Cee and Carael Boy. |
Please take note of my post a few days ago RE carael boy. He has pretty much vindicated (again) what i wrote. I also said don't leave him out of multis in his next run (or something along those lines) so i hope everyone had him.
|
Ahh yes, I had him in multis, but didn't back him for the win. But I agree with you. He doesn't know how to run a bad race these days.

I took Carael Boy at $26.00 and $5.00 the place with an online bookie last night.
I got $13.00 the win and the $5.00 the place. I did also have some $ on Zumanity and Dancing Daggers but made 4/1 on the race anyway. What a great kickback from Carael Boy in the last 50-70m of the race. You really like to see a horse fight on like that. As for the "hype" in this thread about High Cee, well he is not the real deal. As much as I like Carael Boy he is not 'real' City Blacktype Class and if High Cee can't beat him after making him work so hard to get to the lead and having the inside sit on him the whole race, High Cee won't go on to be a star. The Pud |
if high cee ran straight over the last 75m it would have been a different story i think. read in the paper today it doesnt like the whip and that was why it ran sideways.
|
Wait a minute Pud. I didn't CEE the race but it sounds like HIGH CEE went to get a hot dog in the stretch and it cost him the win. (well, almost!) It was a dead heat, right? That's not bad, no matter the class of CAREAL BOY . How clear where the top two of the rest of the field? And it sounds like HIGH CEE is still running on pure, RAW INSTINCT and talent. When they teach him some things and he gets use to the whip, he will be the REAL DEAL!!

Gday All
I am back from the newcastle cup.... what a great day.. My top rater ( and as you blokes know, one of my fav horses) wins the big one... well had a share of it anyway... the other local horse storms home to win the country cup ( I wasnt on him, but look for him in the Port cup I would think) I backed him (Carael Boy) at 21 with oncourse bookies... but settled for 10.5.. As for Carael boy being a "hot dog"... I am guessing that means a horse that sets up a lead and gets run down by swoopers... now I am only guessing about that.. but you only have to go back to his great win at Wyong.. (again a gr3 cup race) and he led them a merry dash and a very good performer in Irongail could not run him down... As an aside, Irongail is now with Freedman and running around in Melbourne on Sunday, and has a real good chance in the race it is contesting... it was much the same sort of race... The only thing I can say about Hi Cee is that geez i wish he had bumped the ol fella close to home... he came out probably 3 or 4 horses under pressure in the final 100 m.. and we would have got the whole race on protest... What I think we are missing here is that Carael Boy was 20/1 and the horse that could not catch him was 5/2.. I think that says enough about the quality and the guts of this great country galloper... Where to next with him? I dunno... but where ever he shows up, he is bound to give his absolute best, and show the guts and determination he showed yesterday... I yelled myself ho****, cheering him the entire length of the magnificent Newcastle straight... I can barely talk today...I thought Carael Boy was magnificent, but then again I have thought that for a long long time... AS I have said more than once on this forum...keep an eye out for Mid North Coast Horses when they are away from home... they do win more than their fair share... |
