Vinnie roe
any one keen on Vinnie Roe in the cup
I missed out on $10 then $9 in Fixed odds(unitab),now $8 He ran very wide last year and ran a strong second cant see why the Quinella from last year wont be repeated whats he carrying 58kg against Divas 58.5kg Cheers |
If I had to make a pick right now I don't think either of last years quinella will fill the trifecta this year just feel with the likes of Railings, Leica Falcon & Eye Popper all being in there with a fair diefferential in weights and all being on the improve they will prove hard to beat for sure. As far as the english horses go I thought Distinction might be there best chance of success was a great run behind Westerner a few months back and I think it is fair to say if Westerner was here he would atleast be an equal favourite.

I backed Distinction last year and he didnt like the wet track although he finished a creditable sixth. Its funny the pull this race has on us
There is 23-24 runners over 3200m the track usually is rain affected but we all want the winner, when on the day there are probably 80 races to bet on some with fewer than 10 runners and probably one or two chances but still we want want to win on the cup cheers |
Out of interest what sort of weather is around in melbourne at the moment I had heard that it was supposed to be good weather leading upto the cup. As far as picking the winner in the cup it is something everyone in Australai wants to do it is that huge here.

Vinnie Roe's coat is very dull this year....beware.
|
i saw vinnie roes run in the irish st ledger and i thought it was crap. he died off at around the final 200m, and that race is a 2400m? or something lyk that.. not quite sure. i feel vinnies only chance is rain affected ground, and if that be the case makybe will run and vinnies chances will then be gone. railings i lyk but am not sure... an extra 2 kg penalty may come into play. leica falcon had magical run, but in experience can come into play. if makybe runs my money will be on her no matter what, but if she doesnt then i got some work to do because it will be one tough race to back the winner. eye popper a big chance on a dry track.....
cheers... |

But I don't think he's trying to win "Fashions On The Field". :D |

As you can see in the thread "Makybe Diva WILL win the Melbourne Cup", I had a chance to back both Makybe Diva and Vinnie Roe at $21 back about 10 weeks ago or so. Well, I only put a piddly little $5 on Vinnie and NOTHING AT ALL on Makybe. You can't help stupidity! Anyway, I've since put a few other bets on the cup which look okay including $20 in free bets thanks to IAS. :) |

Hehe true Sportz, but the condition of the coat is a very big indicator of overall condition. A dull coat means stay away. |
Has anyone else got an opinion on Distinction I rate him a real live chance this year but there doesn't seem to be much talk about him at all.
|
i was under the impression the irish st ledger is over 2800m. just what i thought though, done no research.

Vinnie Roe had good form leading into last years race; coupled with a track rated as dead, (which suits), he was entitled to run a decent race, and did. Form is slightly harder to get enthused about this time around, and with the track expected to dry out leading into Tuesday, don't like his chances of winning. ( Place at best on dead or worse ground ).
Distinction caught my eye when 2nd in the Gold Cup behind Westerner earlier this year. Was strong throughout the entire race and only run down by a superb finishing sprint. Liked his run 12 months ago; huge horse, similar to Persian Punch who performed well in this race on more than one occasion. Got him ahead of Vinnie Roe at this early stage. dundas lane ............ |
Yeah i'm with you Raw with Distinction, tipped on top in the early bird tipping comp and just put it in my Fantasy Stable plus backed a while back at $26, thought it was an excellent run in last years cup and has better form this time around plus the experience.

distinction $26 on uni tab,not bad

I do like looking at a horse's coat big time! If I see some dappling in the hind quarters, the horse is in a good state. The Europeans always come over here for the BC with their wintter coats already growing and get KILLED in the warm weather venues, but you won't see anymore FLA BC's because of this. Not a problem this year though. It's about 50 degrees F midday and about 38 degrees F at night with wind. CHILLY october north east weather. Winter's coming!
