BJs BlackBook

Ok, so a few of you know that I bet to a system, and am really not a form man. I bet race to race, and am watching the races as they happen. Sometimes I even need to check after the race which one I was actually on... :)

I decided after reading a few blackbook threads on here, to start my own, and after a couple of weeks of writing down horses names, I get my first starter tomorrow.

I will not provide any comments, I think it is pretty obvious that I chose these horses from eye catching runs. That simple. I have tried to steer clear of the shorter priced horses, but there have been a few sneak in.

At some stage in the future I will have a serious blackbook, and will confidently punt on them, but until then I will begin my adventure into the world of the blackbook very tentatively, basically as a time filler inbetween the serious parts of my day.
I will not have any money on these, so I expect nobody else to either (you know what I mean).

Anyway, here is my list so far.

Dovecote Lad
Danish Prince
Our Peaceful
Mr Kiseki
Regal Cat
Orrong
Abbasianne
Azzamethyst
Frisco's Vision
Pharsna
Navajo Code

Have one tomorrow.
Canberra Race 4 Number 6 Dovecote Lad.

ps are you going to keep a running account of it all?????

Chrome Prince 24th November 2005 11:52 PM

Best of luck BJ, it's a thrill when one gets up at good odds.

I have it all set up through aap, so they will notify me of any runners. I can only really access sky channel, so alot are midweek runners in country events, and there will only likely be 1-2 running on any given day, so I should be able to keep track of it. Probably won't have any more than about 20 in my book at any time, and will probably dump each runner after their first run for me. ( I haven't really decided yet, but if they fail, they are no good to me, and if they succeed, then they probably won't be very good value after 2 good runs in a row. Will work all that out as I go along...)

As I said, most will be pretty good odds, so I am really not expecting a very high strike rate. I will keep a tally of runners/wins/places. (If any.... :))

While I am in here, I have another running tomorrow at Eagle Farm.
Race 8 Number 9 Orrong.

Yes, it will be some sort of a thrill. But my system bets which I will actually have money on will be running around in the same races, so hopefully my black book doesn't have too high a strike rate.... :)

BJ 25th November 2005 02:14 PM

Dovecote Lad.
Dropped back from 1100 to 1000 in a higher class race. Dropped back to last on a track that has seen every winner in the leading trio on the fence. Got cut off about 300 out and lost a bit of momentum, and ran home reasonably well to finish 3rd (NTD), all over the top of 2nd.
Will keep this one for another run. I think needs the 1100-1200, and to be ridden with more consideration for track conditions.
I don't think I have embarrassed myself too much with my first run, and since my money was on the winner, I could care less.... :)

It's scratched.

BJ 29th November 2005 09:58 AM

Taree Race 8 Number 4 Danish Prince....

BJ 1st December 2005 09:36 PM

Well Danish Prince was obviously outclassed. Ran on for fourth, and wasn't too bad a run, but never was a winning chance. Will keep it in for another run, it was a $15 pop after all...

A couple of runners that I have received notification about for the next few days. Haven't checked fields so not sure if they are definate starters but here they are.

2/12
Wagga:
Race 6 Number 1 Our Peaceful

3/12
Eagle Farm:
Race 3 Number 6 Orrong

Race 5 Number 1 Good Timing

4/12
Traralgon
Race 6 Number 3 Pharsna
.....

Now a couple of these should be well in the market, and I would show a bit of confidence about them.

I have only ever given 1 tip on this forum, and that was for Pharsna. (Wasn't my tip, but ended up in my hands so was happy to spread the word.)
Got up and paid $6.60. Seems like a pretty special horse, only problem is it doesn't like getting out of the gates. Has failed at the start every run so far, but storms home. Missed the kick by 3 lengths last start and ran home for a nice win at good each way odds.
Steps up in class again this race, but if it gets a reasonable start, I would be happy to be on it. Would be equally happy to call it my 2nd tip, and will have money on this one.

I am a stubborn **************, and am going to see this thread through to at least my first win. Have been busy exploring a few options of late, but I won't quit until I can claim at least some bragging rights, and then I will probably be happy to continue anyway.

Chrome Prince 1st December 2005 10:22 PM

Stick with it BJ, go down with the ship if you have to!

I'm in the same position, I'm way down too with one winner paying $1.20.

I plan to go down with the ship too :(

I reckon we're both going to have one winner at odds that gets overlooked in the market and spurs us on to continue :D

Best of luck, I did this in the 80's with some success, but I note that the information and video replays make it hard to get good odds these days.

As I said, I am not actually putting any money on any of these (well there will be 1 or 2...). If the ship goes down, then hopefully the money I have saved by not backing them will keep me afloat.... :)

BJ 5th December 2005 10:28 PM

2/12
Wagga:
Race 6 Number 1 Our Peaceful MEETING ABANDONED

3/12
Eagle Farm:
Race 3 Number 6 Orrong UNP

Race 5 Number 1 Good Timing UNP

4/12
Traralgon
Race 6 Number 3 Pharsna 3rd $1.5

Well I got my first divvie... And wouldn't you know it was favourite. Didn't hear the race, forgot it was on so didn't have any money on fortunately.

Running total.. :(
5 runs
0 wins
1 place

$1.5 return on place.

Something good around the corner. Maybe it will come from........

Mackay Race 7 Number 8 Mr Kiseki

BJ 7th December 2005 12:18 PM

Nope... but a 3rd at $1.75 is better than nothing...

2 today.
Gawler Race 9 Number 6 Abbasianne

Eagle Farm Race 2 Number 9 Frisco's Vision (Was one of the best backed last start, and ran like it.)

BJ 10th December 2005 11:21 AM

Seems I finding some very good lays... Wish I had this much luck on a Saturday night.... :)

Anyway, some for today. Haven't checked scratchings yet.

BJ,

Thanks for the tip on Friscos Vision. Saw it in your blackbook and decided it was worth a shot. Got up to win easily.

Thanks again. and keep posting them.

BJ 20th December 2005 01:09 AM

10/12

Azzamethyst 1st $7.3 and $2.9
Orrong 2nd $2.4

15/12

Pharsna 2nd $1.6

18/12

Frisco's Vision 1st $3.3 and $1.9

I have been a bit busy so have just been posting my emails in here. Have left out 1 of the runners, due to its last start win. Forgot to remove it from BB...

Total Starts --> 17

Wins --> 2
Places --> 6

Win Div Total --> $10.6
Place Div Total --> $12.05

BB should be updated now minus the 2 winners. Have plenty of longshots running around for me, now I just need a couple of them to get up...
