If I had a million dollars for gambling

Id be smart enough to put it all on NZ to BT Scotland in the Rugby Union at $1.01. No doubt they will get thrashed. But by how much. Handicap is set at -34.5 Im predicting the scoreline to exceed this by far bigger. However $1.01 interest sounds safe for me. I wonder if banks would let you borrow this much. hahaha

I hope you wouldn't have put your million on aussie to beat bangladesh in england this year ... might have been a million short !!!

Sportz 26th November 2005 05:26 PM

If you had a million dollars, you wouldn't need to bet.

"If you had a million dollars, you wouldn't need to bet."

You would if betting is how you made that million ;)

Risk 1 mil to win 10k? No thanks.

downbylaw 26th November 2005 07:52 PM

I think the show paid him, or was going to at least cover the losses.

Mr J 26th November 2005 08:12 PM

10k?? If I had a mil that's an hours work. Risk it all or do an hours work?? Hard choice. Actually I lied, it'd be around 3-4hrs work.

darkydog2002 26th November 2005 08:13 PM

Not true SPORTZ.
Heaps of high rollers around.
Kerry Packer love a bet.

No I wouldnt been keen to back cricket..Only game Id be willing to back at really short odds is union. Well ive just earned my 1% interest. nice dream. BTW if i did have a million lying around for sure Id have a bet,for the excitment of watching the game. But with a million its harder to walk away with a $1000 win, unlike if i had a starting bank of $10k

"Only game Id be willing to back at really short odds is union"

I actually agree with this. I just think it's one of those games where 'luck' isn't a factor in a highly mismatched game. I wouldn't agree with it in this case (nz vs scotland), but I'd definately back nz vs say the US, japan, georgia etc. There's just no way a top team is going to lose to one of these teams. In 100 matches, a team like the ABs will NEVER lose to a low team, there's just too much skill involved, and almost no luck. The things that can go wrong still won't stop a top team from running over a poor team.

Sportz 29th November 2005 01:04 PM

Yes, but as I said previously, the odds for that will be about $1.01 OR the bookies may not even offer any odds because it's a forgone conclusion.

Mr J 29th November 2005 06:32 PM

$1.01 would be value if you could get it.

A lot of the favourites in matches against minnows in World Cup 2003 were @ $1.005.
