Punters' Graveyard
Well it seems that the betting public will never learn:
AR3(26.11.05 2:17p.m.E.S.D.T.), a small field of 7 starters, the topweight was odds on and was to be ridden by a 3kg apprentice and the horse was the subject of an intense media "push." A true recipe for disaster and the poor suffering betting public are the ones to pay for it again! Of course the favourite didn't win - it ran third but NTD due to the number of starters. Cheers. |
The 'public' also voted for that little Johny 'fascist' Howard. I have no sympathy for any of them. They get what they pay for.

Crash,
Take it easy mate! I suggest you have a little talk to gazman who will explain the benefits of a good merlot. Cheers. |
Anyone who loves flooding their system with sulfur, deserves a merlot. Straight up spirits thanks. Preferably a good sour mash Bourbon or a good single malt Scotch [politically correct peasants] :-)

makers
maker's mark is the sour mash i drink crash and as for the wine its a bit ,,you get what you pay most of the time....but if you only drink a few glasses you might not get so **********???????cheers........gazman.........

Oh ****** hell Gazza, I live on the largest waterway in Victoria [outside my door in fact]. I would kill to catch what you did mate. They stuffed this place up by damming the Thompson river.
I spent many years of my life as a [once famous] custom rod builder. From split cane fly rods to Game fishing rods [colour coded for their boats] up in Cairns. Gees, you might start to think you have got a handle on who I am if you really know your fishing [I wrote for Fishing World for many years, especially about game fishing off the rocks [sothern NSW and VIC border area in the 70's early 80's]. Cheers. |

Crash, I used to read stories about Green Cape back in the early 80's and drool. Managed to visit those hallowed rocks once, but not to fish...the place was deserted, except for a boat drift fishing about 100m out. |
i once brought a barra rod from a old bloke in melborne in the mid 80s (Private)and he was selling all his gear becouse of ill health,he was selling two slit cane rods made by the same person(15 peice i think)and he told me they were cheap at around 800 each and im pretty sure the name on them was not ozzie sounding the name sort of reminds me of a certain melbourne bookie.....gazman....

Your way off the mark Gazza, but boy-o-boy w924 is so close he's scary. Green cape is just up the road from me. A few mates and I pioneered that place [a lot of others too]. Kingies a plenty and believe it or not, a couple of the big swords themselves that I was involved in capturing. I took the some of the pictures covering that incident. Didn't write the article though.
Did you read [Fishing world] about the poor ****** fool with a 80kg. game rig and harness on the Green Cape rocks who hooked into something gigantic ? A very quick mate with a knife saved his life as he was sliding toward the briny, hopelessly and totally rigged up to follow that monster. Funniest thing I have ever seen [after we all settled down with a few coldies] !!! |
hey crash
do you no any of the ness boys..........cheers.......gazman.........

Crash, I do recall that story..scary stuff..would have been the first OZ death of its type I would imagine...? .another reason not to fish alone off the rocks. Cheers |

Hi Sportz..you got a point there.... apologies. I'd rather read your selections and racing comments any day. All the best |
Well, the pitfalls of backing apprentices on topweights was reinforced today:Gosford R2 the topweight was ridden by a 3kg boy.
NB. Please no comments if you are a member of that fishing club. This is a racing site! Cheers. |
MR4 1 Lucky Diva, to be ridden by a 3kg claiming apprentice was the subject of constant media "push" and guess what?......it was beaten by No3 Laura's Charm($5.6w$2.0plNSW) which I was on, although I did couple the two in a box exacta.
Need I say any more....if the punting public continues to support topweights ridden by 3kg apprentices(especially when there is a media push for that runner, ie topweight) will end up eating crackers and milk for their evening meal while others are feasting on lobster. Cheers. |
When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it must have been about the Gold Coast on Magic Millions day!
|
Yeah Sportz,
It has been a tough day so far but just follow the market/money(NB. I know that I do not have tell you this...no disrespect/offence intended). BR6 13 Gold Edition was the only "nibble" that I detected early. Similarly, BR2 Illuminates($3.0w$1.4plNSW) again , I also detected a nibble for this well-fancied runner. I have also secured several other well-priced place-getters paying reasonable place divs. It can only get better for we punters later in the day. Cheers. |
I said it in post22 and I reiterate it: be very wary about supporting any topweight ridden by a 3kg apprentice:
MR1 1 Lucky Diva missed the start and was never a real hope in the race although it did finish well but I thought it was due mainly to it's own touch of class. Cheers. |
