Stix 2006 Tips
 

I thought I'd keep a running total of the tips I post this year ....... hopefully we have another successful year and keep the wife happy..... ;)

I am not a straight out WIN punter - like a number of the members out there - I do like the 1x2 or 1x3 way of punting..... I just don't like 2nd's and 3rd's when only on for a win..... not that may of us do. :mad:

I'll post my tips with my early assesment of of staking (which of course may change dependant on price i.e. might be posted as 1x3 but then due to price I might end up going straight out 1x0 / 1x1 / 1x2 or no bet.... yatta yatta.

Anyway that's the plan........ see how we go..... ;)

Well what a poor day to start my 2006 tips campaign........ Oh well (under my own sufferance) - I've come up with the following selection:

Good luck for the year, Stix. May not be a bad start looking at its strike rate. Agree, however, that it is a long way to go for a bet :)

Ended up going 1 x 3 as it was a shorter price than expected and I was never 100% confident, but needed something to start the ball rolling......

A mate's of a mate has a mate who's house mate's cousin's (twice removed) ;) .....has a horse intoday also in race 10 - No.10 Crown Kingdom (won it's last two and goes up to class 3 today.... around $8 - so maybe worht eachway)

Also thought Miss Lyrebird was a good bet in the second but was too late in tipping sorry :(

have you thought about giving the place the flick and just putting your 3 Units on for the win? I have played with place betting and can't seem to get it into real good profit territory... without staking... The takeout kills it in the end i reckon.. But good luck with it you are doing well :)

I have thought about it, but as I said in my first post on this thread...... I hate 2nd's and 3rd's...... I like a collect ;) .... granted my POT would be substainially better, but "easy come-easy go"..... not to say I don't ever go straight out... it's just a suggested bet.... hope someone out there has gone the nose on the tips so far...... maybe if I prove to myself for a bit longer and get some "cream" under my belt - then I might have a "crack" at the snoz !!

Notice you have a few high raters today (12 > 25pts)..... I usually take these with a couple of others in the exacta's and A2...

Have a follower for today (not included in usual tips - although could be a roughie tip) and is of interest.

SADISTIC BALLARAT R5 No.8 (1200m)
Should have won debut, ran 7th to the "mighty" Wenceslas Square before Xmas and not that far away last start at Colac. Worth a 1x1 bet..... perhaps.... not overly confident..... (just posting for interest sake) ;)

Have to get you to define your tips a bit better, Stix. You said this about the races for last Tueday --- and counted them in your results; but on other days you indicated a betting strategy (2x1, or whatever). Do you count the 'roughies' like today's tip? 1x3 you have indicated somewhere. Just a bit confused.

But I do appreciate your efforts --- and success is all we wait for!!! Thanks.

Don't think many people would have been able to get on Bust Up yesterday! Miss Bridport was certainly good though.

The one's I post - I back !! plain and simple.... I don't pretend to preach how others should bet....... I see what your getting at, but I only post what I, "at the time" of posting, think "I" will bet i.e. 1x2, 1x3... etc

I didn't have a chance to clarify the Finlayson/Beach Cookie post.... but at least I posted (and backed) them !! ;)

Sadistic today is just a speccy - and is a "follower" rather than a tip - i.e. a horse that is of some interest to me and "maybe" of some interest to others and is not included in my "regular" tips...... hence posted seperately. Miss Bridport was a late posting as I wasn't going to include roughies (not that rough in the end :confused: ) in the regualr tips.... and may keep a seperate register of these.....

As I said above - what I post, I back - and today Sadistic will be a small bet as it is a speccy..... People can make their own minds up how to back them if they choose to have a go at the one's I post.... please don't hold me to ransom or "rely" on what I post - I try and post what I think should give us a return - and touch wood - we are travelling alright..... perhaps I'll just stick to posting horses and not betting suggestions or summaries.... i.e. Sportz/Mav & co.........(much less work - eh!? :D )

Well, I don't really post betting suggestions or summaries either now. I probably should as it would be a better way of describing how keen or otherwise I am about particular horses.

It's tough tipping every day of the week, when some days are just not very inspiring at all. Yesterday was one of those days. Only one race I really liked, but I gave 5 tips, because I thought it would look silly just tipping one race. Today's much the same. I'm not really keen on a lot today.

Hey, what's going on? Why are you leaving?

Don't leave! I enjoy reading your tips, and although I do not comment, I take up your picks and analyse them with the form guide. Your tips are very valuable and it gives me a pointer or two on who is racing well in those eastern states (Im in Perth) races.

This forum has been great as we get limited form here, so to here the views on races is great, especially those I will follow very closely...like this saturday's Flemington Lightning Stakes meeting. All the group one meetings from the eastern states I listen very carefully, so to read other peoples tips is great.

I just wish people post their tips for the meeting on the Friday (morning) before the race card.
