As you can see most of my tipping revolves around the round ball game, however threw a couple of NRL games in the mix for some fun and it almost backfired on me.

Had my heart in my mouth this afternoon with the roosters almost blowing it for me...

And to think I was gunna take the Arsenal v Tottenham match as a draw (3.90) instead of roosters v dragons, could have paid triple. My previous best collect was 8/8 when i picked the whole first round of the european champions league, which you would appreciate is probably the most difficult competition goin round from a tipping perspective.

Anyone who would like to discuss sports multi-betting please get in touch as I would like to share my knowledge of soccer and learn more about some other sports.

Ambivalent1 25th April 2006 06:28 PM

Hey that is very impressive.

Im assuming it was on centrebet as I have an account on there too and I like to do multis as well. Although admittedly I just stake huge amounts on teams im confident of.

I specialise in AFL and soccer myself.

We should share info!

Looking at your multi-bet I agree with all of your soccer selections except I hate betting on teams away from home. I just took bolton-portsmouth-newcastle-ipswich town-kaiserslauten (championship and bundesliga) pick 5 for $50 which paid $890.

I also have a pick 3 on at the moment which was stg first try-collingwood under 39.5 points-aston villa. What are your thoughts on aston villas chances? I dont like them now, looks very draw-ish to me.

classiconi 25th April 2006 07:08 PM

Thanks Ambivalent.

Indeed it was placed on centrebet however I have numerous online accounts and after searching for good prices, 2.25 for Valencia was way over odds, I don't care where they were playing, they are gunning for a place in the champions league and nothing was going to stop them. In fact, it was my shortest priced option Real Madrid who were playing at home and had to come from behind + score in injury time to secure the points. Funny game this soccer is but if you do your homework tipping can be pretty cruisey. I steer clear of one league in particular and never bet on this competition because there is so much corruption in it, but apart from that I will bet on anyone as long as I give them a more than excellent chance of winning.

Its good to hear that you specialise in AFL because I am keen to have a dip in that market, and betfair has been quite kind to me in recent weeks (+46.5 points for Richmond @ 1.92 LOL). Great tip on the pies I am very keen to share tips with you in this sport.

Aston Villa v Man City... hrrmmm a real jammy in general I would steer clear of this sort of match but I would have to say Villa is probably what I would have taken, both teams in ordinary form but Man City seem to be suffering from the loss of Joey Barton in the heart of midfield. Villa are desperate for the points because another loss could spell real trouble for them as Portsmouth are charging up the table, while Man City have an extra game in hand. In saying that, Man City are on a killer losing streak and the law of averages suggests that some sort of result is headed their way.

Ambivalent1 26th April 2006 06:39 AM

You were right Classiconi, Man City got up 1-0 to defeat my multi. I was never confident on that match.

What are your thoughts on tonights champions league/EPL matches?

Barcelona v AC Milan - Leaning towards Barcelona or the draw as Barcelona only need to protect their 1-0 lead.

West Ham v Liverpool - Draw or Liverpool, not sure, this one is tough to pick. West Ham can be difficult to beat at home and Liverpool have been playing a lot of matches lately (albeit a very impressive FA Cup win over Chelsea).

Mr J 26th April 2006 04:46 PM

Heh very nice ;)

classiconi 26th April 2006 07:00 PM

Hey Ambivalent AC Milan are my team so my opinion may be biased however I don't think they should be written off at all for this fixture. With proven goalscorers Shevchenko + Inzaghi up front, Kaka and Seedorf feeding ball and Cafu giving them width on the right, I can't see Milan not being able to score a goal in two consecutive champions league matches against a backline which I would only regard as satisfactory. Marquez and Puyol are on yellow cards and I can see them being quite tentative especially in the opening 30 minutes. On merit Barca deserve to go to Paris for the final however the best team on paper doesn't always win. I would definitely have Milan amongst the goals and as such my tip is 1-2 with Milan going through to the final on the away goal rule.

West Ham v Liverpool - On any given day Liverpool are a 3 goal better team than the hammers. I played against Reo-coker and Ferdinand as a Spurs youth team player and do not particularly rate them. All their best talent (Carrick, Cole, Ferdinand) end up at bigger clubs and West Ham are stuck with scraps. Liverpool are a day fresher and have a full squad to select from, so my tip is 0-2 in favour of Liverpool.

I know you won't find these tips appealing Ambi as you don't really like backing away teams but I do give both teams realistic chances of winning.

There are not enough midweek fixtures atm so I'm keeping my wagering to weekend fixtures, any upcoming fixtures you fancy? Im quite happy to discuss fixtures in all sports.

Ambivalent1 26th April 2006 07:49 PM

At the moment I really like richmond to beat carlton and melbourne to beat the kangaroos. I think they are certainties. Both should be close, tight matches so <39.5 is a good value option. I will wait and see the team sheets first before doing anything as I know carlton expect Waite and Fevola back.

Also an early glance at this weeks rugby league reveals a HUGE value pick. Melbourne underdogs vs St George at home! They are in sparkling form and are a high scoring team. Manly also present as logical winners over what I consider to be a highly-overrated Parramatta side.

Floydyboy 26th April 2006 08:52 PM

I like liverpool tonite..... The chance of changes in the side worries me a little......and Ive thrown FC Zurich into the equation as well (another away team).....I thought Liverpool might try to Hammer the Hammers tonite to soften them up mentally for the encounter in Cardiff ...but obviously not if raph is going to rest players .....although they do have some depth and they have played a fair bit of football of late as has west ham

classiconi 27th April 2006 06:01 AM

Barcelona v Milan 0-0

I kid you not though Milan were robbed, the goal which was disal???ed was perfectly legitimate, I can't believe the ref awarded a free kick to Barcelona, this was a champions league semi final not amateur grade.

West Ham v Liverpool 1-2

Yeah went pretty well how I thought it would, Liverpool cruise home in 3rd gear.

Ambivalent1 27th April 2006 06:20 AM

Yeah I took the Draw-Liverpool double on the back of everybodies analysis and my gut feeling.

lol reo coker scored!

In tonights UEFA Cup I think Middlesbrough will choke against Steaua Bucuresti and I cant split Sevilla and Schalke.

Floydyboy 27th April 2006 04:14 PM

I only seen the last 20mins and it didnt look too cruisy to me ...That Sheringhams an oldy but a goody

classiconi 27th April 2006 04:46 PM

teddy probably the most clever player of his generation, was not physical or very quick, however made up for it with his wits.

And btw, Liverpool dictated the game opening 30 minutes, it seems after that they did just enough to get the result, cruising if you consider they made 8 changes to starting line-up from previous match.

classiconi 27th April 2006 09:01 PM

Ambi I haven't had an opportunity to assess the UEFA cup matches but on a whim I would say Boro to win and Schalke v Sevilla draw, not much in them at all.

Floydyboy 27th April 2006 09:19 PM

Its never cruisy when my money is under seige haha no matter whos playin ....:)

Floydyboy 27th April 2006 09:26 PM

Shaky Shalke ......One on my teams to avoid list along with the whole Italian and Spanish leagues......Id rather rely on stats alone and bet in the Czec 2nd league than bet in Italy or Spain........Been burned too many times

classiconi 28th April 2006 06:13 AM

Floyd Italy or Spain are the most competitive leagues in europe thats why you have been burned, there is nothing suss about them at all in my opinion, theres really only one team in Italy to be very careful with and thats Roma, and if they fix a match you can almost guarantee its gunna be a draw.

BTW

Boro v Steua 4-2

Sevilla v Schalke 0-0 (82nd minute)

I should start listening to myself more often!

Floydyboy 28th April 2006 06:13 AM

Thats not a bad effort by Boro 3-0 down (5-0 with away goals)after 24 mins .
Nice comeback
If Id have got up to watch it I would have gone back to bed after half an hour

Floydyboy 28th April 2006 06:20 AM

Oh I wouldnt disagree about those leaguess its just that I cant pick em..... and the part of the game I dont like ,get a goal and defend and defend some more..
Adios ...........Im off to work

Ambivalent1 28th April 2006 06:46 AM

Another easy double! this is beautiful. Although I was nearly right, Middlesbrough did almost choke after going 2-0 down.

Oh and what does everybody think about the Chelsea v Man United game on saturday night. Should be a terrific match. I think Chelsea are a bit out of sorts atm though and Im leaning towards a draw or a Man United upset.

classiconi 28th April 2006 07:48 AM

Hey Ambi I will provide my specials tonight, can you let me know your specials in the other codes.

Anyone else reading please feel free to bounce off ideas and I am more than willing to provide my opinion, a lot of sport this weekend should be able to put together a nice multi.

NKXIII 28th April 2006 08:11 AM

just been reading about all the multi's and i must say you guys are pretty good. been backing some multi's myself, but been struggling. if you get a chance guys, post your bets before hand.
anyway... my thoughts for this weekends action is as follows.
AFL:
Carlton <39.5@2.65
Melbourne <39.5@2.40
Geelong straight up @ 1.80
Essendon straight up @ 2.40

EPL:
Man U @3.50
Liverpool -1.0 @2.15
Arsenal -1.0 @2.00

perhaps into a multi, this would be paying $400

classiconi 28th April 2006 10:12 AM

Hi NK,

Appreciate your input, like I said I'm trying to learn about the other codes as much as I can.

I am not a big fan of taking teams -1.0 goals, I prefer to take the lower odds in case the team only manages to win by 1 goal.

I really don't know how Essendon will cope without Matthew Lloyd, he has been a key player for them.

Ambi Carlton have named Waite and Fevola, do you think this could have an impact on the result?

NKXIII 28th April 2006 11:47 AM

yeah Essendon will cope ok without Llyod. He was good, but their structure upfront is pretty good without him. They have been unlucky the last couple of weeks and are due for a win.

Carlton with Fevola back in and Waite, should do the job against the tigers who have travelled from Perth back home over to Brisbane in the space of 5 days, surely the will struggle.

Floydyboy 28th April 2006 05:25 PM

I think it will be a good game to watch and not bet although ManU arent often paying $3+.......this end of the season could be a look in
Ive never seen a team create so many chances as Man U and not be able to convert ......Im an unabashed Rooney fan ......He can be a bit hot headed but hes only young .

Ambivalent1 28th April 2006 05:45 PM

Classiconi I still like Richmond to win by <39.5 points. Their advantage is in their forward power. Carlton lack quality defenders.

Interestingly, there has been a huge plunge on Carlton. I am certain its because of Waite and Fevola being named.

I also agree with NK about Melbourne, Geelong and Essendon to win. Although I would not risk Essendon.

In the rugby league as I said I like Melbourne storm to beat St.George and Manly to beat Parramatta at the line.

Floydyboy 28th April 2006 06:09 PM

too early in the season for Rugby league for me and I gave up on the afl about a season and a half ago ......... although I did have my mandatory $5 double on the lions and the broncs got odds of over $7 this week ...go you lions haha........................

OOOO and before I forget ...It will probably be their deth nell but Jeez I think Bolton will beat charlton ...they havent done much of late on the road but they had some nice wins away earlier in the season ,.............from memory charlton started the season well but have slipped a bit of late ..........maybe Im just a sam fan

classiconi 28th April 2006 06:32 PM

Floyd you are about a week behind with Bolton v Charlton, I actually had that result as part of my winning multi last week! (refer to first post of thread)

Here is a quick multi for tonight, paying about 85 / 1

AFL
Carlton to beat Richmond.

French Championnat
Bordeaux to beat Le Mans

Greek Division One
AEK to beat Apollo Kalamaria

Italian Serie A
Inter Milan to beat Empoli
Juventus to beat Siena

Portuguese 1 Liga
Porto to beat Guimaraes
Sporting Lisbon to beat Rio

Spanish Primera Liga
Getafe to beat Villareal
Atletico Madrid to beat Mallorca

Please note for both Spanish matches I have taken the draw no bet option.

Fellas I have had a look at the NRL and Super 14 not very keen on any fixtures (might get on knights if Johns plays) but I will post another mutli tomorrow and probably throw some AFL on taking your tips into account, considering you guys seem pretty confident on Melbourne and Geelong.

I'll be on most of the night if you wish to discuss this weekends fixtures.

Floydyboy 28th April 2006 07:38 PM

Ha ha sorry how my brain crossed over there I dont know .....I started off talking about Blackburn or meaning to atleast........... Nuff Said.......Must have a bigger soft spot for the big boofheaded northerner than I thought.

Floydyboy 28th April 2006 08:23 PM

Two Paper favs for tonight
Austria 2nd league..........
Rheindorf Altach SC - Kapfenberger SV
Rheindorf Altach SC $1.37
French 2nd league
Caen - Chateauroux..........
Caen $1.40

Floydyboy 28th April 2006 09:01 PM

A question if I may no inferences intended
Why would Cagliari be $1.47 favs to beat Parma
Home advantage?
Trying to climb out of the relegation zone?(a nothing match for Parma)

The figures look odd if you just go by the basic stats.

classiconi 28th April 2006 09:17 PM

Floyd interesting that you point that fixture out as I have also taken notice, apparently Cagliari grind out results at home whether they be wins or draws, however 2 weeks ago Parma was 6.00 to win away from home and our very own Bresciano popped up in injury time to score the winner. Cagliari have four draws on the trot but Parmas form has been quite good the last 6 weeks. Keep your eyes on any fluctuation but I might keep away from that one this week.

Alas the multi I put up before is dusted before it even started. I shoulda listend to you Ambi well tipped for Richmond to get up although Carlton did charge home in the final 15 minutes.

I'll have a good go at it tomorrow got some soccer specials lined up.

Floydyboy 28th April 2006 09:30 PM

Might be one to get ON lol
Last season towards the end I thinkit was there were 2 instances of Italian 2nd league matches heavily bet on for the draw (and thats how they both ended) The dogs were barking ,the money went on, and the chickens came home to roost ....gotta go EPL preview on fox

classiconi 28th April 2006 09:35 PM

Quite possibly Floyd but I'll make my final assessment tomorrow.

There are 2 fixtures in the Serie A which are odds on for the draw this weekend, Sampdoria vs Udinese and Treviso vs Ascoli, someone once told me any fixture in Italian League which has the draw rated at odds on, you should put your house on it, but Im really not that comfortable backing these fixtures for a draw at present.

Floydyboy 28th April 2006 11:12 PM

Me either ,wouldnt touchem ,I was kidding about getting on .
I have no problem leaving things alone .
Realistically theres enough football(soccer) daily to keep me occupied .One good bet a day single or double is a better recipe for me than trying to back a squillion winners .....last year I had a big multi about $80 then realised Id left one out so I had the multi again and with the inclusion it was $135 they won ....I had $1 on both of them haha but I was happy with the result

classiconi 29th April 2006 03:43 PM

Fellas you all still keen on Essendon to beat Hawthorn? Please advise bout to lodge my multi.

Ambivalent1 29th April 2006 03:53 PM

I wouldnt reccommend betting on Essendon although I have tipped them.

Too much of a danger game.
Geelong would be a better bet.

classiconi 29th April 2006 04:49 PM

Hey there Ambi, what about with +24.5 worth considering?

Ambivalent1 29th April 2006 05:23 PM

Yes +24.5 start is ok. That probably makes it 50/50.

I rate Essendon a far better side than Hawthorn, however I think they will be tired from the Anzac day match as their players have ageing bodies.

classiconi 29th April 2006 05:35 PM

Ok I have posted my multi for this weekend.

French Championnats
Bordeaux to beat Le Mans

Italian Serie A
Juventus to beat Siena
Inter Milan to beat Empoli

Floydyboy 29th April 2006 06:32 PM

Heres my few shorties for tonite ....subject to further scrutiny but theylll probably be the ones I play with
