Spring Tipping Comp
 

Okay, I'll be starting up the Spring tipping comp in a few weeks time, and I'd like to know who wants to be involved. As I said previously, it'll be run along the lines of a league, with each person going head to head against a different tipster each week. We'll have a points table just like the AFL, NRL, S14 etc and at the end of the preliminary rounds, the top 8 tipsters will go through to the finals conducted over the week of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

If possible, I would really prefer a total of 14 tipsters because that would fit in just perfectly with the spring carnival, but I am willing to have more than 14 if there is a lot of interest. BUT please remember that you must be able to tip every week. If you don't think you'll be able to come onto the forum every week between the first week of August and the first week of November, then please don't take up the spot of someone else who can.

If a lot of people want to have a go, I will give preference to the usual tipping comp regulars. As I said, I would prefer to have 14 in the comp, as that would fit in perfectly with the spring carnival.

PS. I do not regularly check this site at the moment, would i be right in guessing the comp will not be starting till early to mid-august?

No worries, Raw. You've got about 3-4 weeks to rest up before you have to worry about it. :)

I've noticed that your tips haven't been doing that great lately, but if I know you, that just means there are a couple of BIG winners around the corner.

No, I can have more than 14 people in the comp, Chuck. It would just make it a bit easier to run with 14 (or perhaps 16).

The funny thing is Sportz I haven't been going badly myself haven't lost since Stradbroke day and before that it was a month or 2 before that just seems every time I tip something on this website it falls in a heap. I have done exceptionally well off of Hillston Exchange backing it for a place it's last few runs at Flemington and it always runs a place at around $5 for the place it is ridiculos. On the weekend my best 2 bets were Iceland who I tipped in the tipping comp and Bella Arena who I kept to myself trying not jinx it both got up and really had a good day because of that would have been great if Maloose had of gotten up in the last at Flemo worst part is i looked at Diamond Masque the night before and disregarded it on Saturday just thinking that I really liked Maloose.

I will be away from the computer during the vrc carnival as planning on going to derby day and melb cup so if you want i can be 1st or 2nd emergency.

Are you absolutely certain you wouldn't be able to tip during the Cup carnival? You could get your tips in for Derby day nice and early before you go, then you have three days between Derby day and Cup day to find some way of posting your tips.

I'd like to get the list of tipsters sorted out pretty soon, so I can organise the competition. At this stage, I think the first week of the comp may be July 29.

Looks a class field lining up for this quality stayers event...Umrum is coming off a solid win in the teams tipping challenge....though crash and stix came home late and should appreciate the distance rise.....ijuandaQLD is another coming into this with a 1 against his name - winner of the recent Group Tipping comp which shows he is no mug when it comes to long distance performance....panther is venturing to the racing side of things following outstanding performances in the sports punting comp, wonder how the change of racing direction will affect him...another making a rare venture over is none other than the wily rabbitz, though it appears he only has one motive, albeit a long way out of range - maybe hes just needing a solid track workout before the 2nds comp?....jim curran and raw instinct were unusually disappointing in the teams tipping challenge and will be out to seek redemption...the consistent sportz has being doing an andrew johns lately just picking and choosing the events he will go in, the officials are letting it slide as the lack of match practise may get to him....also the man of the moment Chuck will be looking to win his 2nd Spring Tipping comp, after a demolition the record 46 strong field of contenders back in 2004......and of course there is the Maverick, one who will be looking to reproduce his form in the brisbane racing threads into here....and thats about it for the field wrap up sorry to those that didn't get look in :p
