Haradasun V Miss Finland

A lot of hype going in to tomorrow’s race between these two. What are everyones thoughts?

I query the opposition that Haradasun beat the other week but his sectionals are far too good to dismiss! With Haradasun sitting just off Miss Finland with a slow pace I think he'll be able to sprint past here?

Fancy Miss Finland myself ;)

wesmip1 1st September 2006 03:16 PM

I prefer Miss Finland as well ... but could go either way.

woody 1st September 2006 03:46 PM

Due Sasso.. 3rd..

Rudolph 1st September 2006 04:36 PM

Due Sasso an upset win?

I know how much BMF rates him, and is now fitter.
Be there for a long way.

Horse Whisperer 1st September 2006 04:49 PM

im with haradasun to beat miss finland, especially first up.

eagle1 1st September 2006 11:05 PM

Not much in it. The boy (haradasun) a nostril, to the girl (miss finland)

spinoff69 1st September 2006 11:29 PM

Miss Finland keeps the blinkers on here for a first up win.
I'm as big a Haradasun fan around having collected nicely from his first two starts, but with the wraps on him and the talented filly he is up against, he'll be under the odds for mine tomorrow...
Will be a great clash though, Lectrice leading, Due Sasso sitting on her outside, tactics will play a big part in this race me thinks ;)

Good luck guys.

go4it 2nd September 2006 06:36 AM

Haradsun is a good thing if you go on his sectionals last start, and given that Slipper winners do not come up as 3YO and the fact that he is race fit and she is first up,and the old adage that a good colt will always beat a good filly.Just hope that she is heavily backed so as to create a better price for the winn

cheers

YoungBuck 2nd September 2006 07:18 AM

Can't see Haradsun getting beaten. I'm big on times, and for that reason he should give them all wind-burn.

Sorry to maybe put a spanner in the works, but this is not a match race.
The only time we have a match race is when there are just two horses in a race. On my understanding there are another four horses in the field, including three last start winners and Due Sasso which has had two runs in and should be much fitter third up. If most punters just focus on Haradasun and Miss Finland then there just might be REAL VALUE about one or two of the other runners.

Goldcoaster 2nd September 2006 10:08 AM

Well i dont think either will win...my money will be on Zupaone

goldmember 2nd September 2006 11:38 AM

I'm leaning to Haradasun, backed him both starts so far but only watching today as the caulfield guineas his his main aim, if he was set for this race he would have 4L on Miss Finland.

mv2040 2nd September 2006 12:34 PM

Absolute cracker! Neither will loose any admirers, but for me Haradasun let that one slip.

Cox plate odds will shorten i think???

xanadu 2nd September 2006 12:42 PM

In the after race interview Nash stated that he had ridden worse and was really copping it from disgruntled punters.
The question is.......will he retain the ride?

Cheers.

No doubt, Vasil wont ditch him for 1 bad ride.

Chuck 2nd September 2006 01:22 PM

it was an absolutely shocking ride though

Makes me laugh when the punters get upset with the jockey.

Yes they have a job to do (like most of us) and yes, they make mistakes and have good and bad days - just ask Craig Williams.

But surely if you are putting your hard earned on a horse race (and it equalls the amount you are willing to lose ) then surely you could reaonsably expect to have that happen to you......... have look at your betting (risk) profile, move on and load up again..... don't take the easy option and bag the Jockey.....

Then again I might be built differently to the other punters...

For the record I lost on Haradasun, but did get the exacta a "few" times.....

boxhead 2nd September 2006 05:00 PM

Maybe, just maybe, we have seen a slipper winner that will go on.
cheers

go4it 2nd September 2006 05:23 PM

Worst ride I have ever seen in my life.

Should have won by a minute.

Nuff said.

topsy99 2nd September 2006 07:40 PM

no doubt that williams ride on miss finland won the race but maybe at the end she had his measure.
also i thought the ride of the day was the jockey on newton's rings.
very intelligent ride.

maverick1993 2nd September 2006 09:32 PM

I think its pretty simple when you are on the best horse in the race...
"Give the horse room "

He could have come to the outside and won this on his ear...poor Zapaone got smashed a couple of times by Nash trying to get out...he might be in a bit of trouble i reckon...

still a good race and agree its good to see a Slipper winner going on with it....
(Dance hero wasnt hopeless though)

Interesting to hear Hayes say that Miss Finland will be better over more ground.,,,she doesnt seem built for it for mind but how can you argue with him...

I dont see why Shinn was trying to box Haradasun in, the horse was going backwards at that point in the race!!!

i dont agree that it should have won by a minute. yes it was a bad ride, but miss finland had the momentum and haradusun found the gap and went past and then just stopped. i dont think haradusun would have won, even when it got clear it should have kept goin, but it seemed to peak on its run. thats just my opinion anyway.

Real Deal 3rd September 2006 08:55 PM

Totally agree whisperer. Haradasun didnt know what to do once it got past Miss Finland and imo stopped or ran out of juice. The burst that Haradasun has would have seen it kick 2 clear of miss finland had Nash of got the gun ride but i am unsure wether he would have held on.

In a way i think Getting boxed in for a while helped Haradasun by leaving his run so late. I am still positive he got out with plenty of time to win the race.

Raw Instinct 3rd September 2006 09:48 PM

I usually try to stay away from these things and am seriously losing interest in horse racing these days however Nash Rawiller deserves every critisism thrown at him for that ride it was pathetic the horse was 3 lengths last at one stage about mid race at that point you make sure the horse gets a nice unimpeded run at them not hope for the miracle gap to appear, As far as saying Miss Finland would have won anyway no way in the world I am going there we are talking about a horse in Haradasun having what it's 3rd race start he has so much improvement to be derived just from race experience right now that was the first time the horse has suffered any major bumping duel in a race tell me that wouldn't have taken the wind out of his sails, Ofcourse it would have I think with a clear run he wins by about a 1/2 length but it is hard to tell.

One thing I will say is for the wraps that Nash constantly gets he is a terrible jockey to watch he has no control at all over his horse when trying to ride hands and heels if you don't believe me watch some film he lost a Doomben 10,000 a few years ago on Our Egyptian Raine because of his riding style and IMO he is a major reason why the horse didn't manage to get home in a few more of those close finishes his hands are all over the place, sure he is pushing out strongly but the way he does it it's like the horse resents it more than anything.

Chrome Prince 3rd September 2006 10:59 PM

The class horse of the field won.

I find it quite puzzling how often some horses make their own luck and other horses run into no end of trouble.

Yeah it was a poor ride for sure, but he saw Miss Finland go to the outside and thought he'd take the shortcut home, which turned into a barrel of trouble. Let's not forget that it's drummed into these jockeys..."Take the shortest route home". Had he got the split without interference he would have been labelled a Boss-like genius. Superior horses bullock their way out with dominance, he struggled and finally got clear.

In my opinion, if he lines up against Miss Finland again and gets a clear run, he still won't win, she has the class edge.

Look how many horses we see that were "unlucky" and should have won, yet still get beat when things go their way.

Luck's not a lottery. ;)

Certainly should have won by a good margin. At the 200 when Miss Finland was at full tilt Haradasun was about half paced after being crunched between 2 horses.

It is simply not possible for that horse to regain its momentum and go past a quality horse like Miss Finland in that space of time!

but it did. and then it clearly peaked on its run and miss finland got it on the line.
